I really can't tell if she is white or latin. Her name being Zatanna is throwing me off.
Zatanna
Character » Zatanna appears in 1676 issues.
A good stage magician and daughter of magician Giovanni John Zatara, Zatanna, the Mistress of Magic, after her father vanished, kidnapped by an old foe she delved into his library and learned about her ancestors, Zatanna taught herself how to get access to her power by speaking her spells backwards, and became one of most powerful magic-users in the DC Universe.
Is Zatanna white or latin?
@teerack: DC Wikia mentions she is related to Leonardo Da Vinci and Arion an ancient Homo Magi of Atlantis. If it´s true, she has a Latino side on her family. But none of that matter because it´snt what makes her cool and unique.
@cattlebattle:Latinos arent caucasians.
I always got the impression that she was Italian. Which is, of course caucasian, but I mean by heritage.
@cattlebattle:Latinos arent caucasians.
Then what are they?
@rustyroy: A miscegenation of Europeans (Spanish, Portuguese, Italian), Indigenous Americans, and Africans.
And Zatanna is Homomagi. She's not "human" as you or I understand it. We're basically cavemen in comparison.
The fact that people think ITALIANS are latin is baffling.... they are the very definition of latin. They bloody invented it.

Cool, although they usually look Caucasian to me.
@rustyroy: Latinos
Given that her father's name is "Giovani", I believe her family is probably from Italy, but as someone stated above, Zatanna is a Homo magi, a different species from Homo sapiens sapiens.
@rustyroy: Not a race but ethnicity.
@rustyroy: Well we aren't. I should know.
@rustyroy: Well we aren't. I should know.

@jonny_anonymous: I assume you're talking about the Roman Empire and the fact that resided in what it is now Rome, Italy? Knowing some Roman empire history I wouldn't say the Italians today invented Latin but the people that lived on their land a couple thousand years ago did. After all, a lot of invasions (especially Germanic), deaths and other tribes seeking land invaded Italy, hell a lot of people were "Roman" and or Latin I guess in the same sense that a lot of people were once "British" too (I'm talking about the Empires). It's too bad though the Romans made education only available to a small class of rich people while everyone else spoke the vulgar (common) language that would eventually evolve soo much so that it wouldn't even be like written latin at all..

Latin/Latino is a blanket term covering anyone from a romance speaking country. I mean, Argentina is a Latin country and they're like 90% European descent? I assume you mean the Mestizo and Mulatto which I think a lot of people probably associate Latinos with. Now that gets confusing as my parents have told me that a lot of Latinos may have at least one recent Native or African ancestor due to all the colonial stuff and shizz that went on but then they aren't really called nor do they fit the definition of Mestizo/Castizo and Mulattos in the first place so Idk.
Anyways, I think she's Italian pretty sure Zatara was Italian or something but as a whole she's a Homo Magi. Technically though if she was say from Argentina or Brazil and spoke all the language and culture she'd technically be Latina.
Sorry I was browsing through the forums and got bored.

@jonny_anonymous: Ooh I know that but Latin/Latino/Latina tends to be a term to refer to someone from a Latin American country. I don't really hear it being described for Romance speaking Europeans.. In fact the first google definition refers to people from Latin America.

I always thought she looked Italian or some other mediterranean type thing like Wonder Woman yeah.
And Hypeman is exactly right. It's funny when people say''Latin people aren't white'' or referring to Mexicans as Spanish people, I bet actual Spanish people probably get upset about that a lot. people refering to people not even apart of their country as Spanish just because they speak Spanish.
I'm like you guys realize Romans were the first latins, and through them all latin languages descended. It's prepostrous to insist the people who invented the culture are less representitive of ''Latin'' than their colonies. That would be like Americans or Canadians taking British identity just because they speak English.
South America is literally no different from North America. There's no ''Latino'' race just like there's no North American race lol. South America has Europeans, Africans, Arabs, East Asians just like North America does. Over 50 million Brazilians are whites, and a large chunk in other Latin American countries are too.
Half of those Brazilian super models you see in the media like Alessandra Ambrosio, Gisele Bunchen, Evandro Soldati, Lucas Malvacini, Rodrigo Santoro, Rafael Lazzini, Lucas Bernardini etc are usualyl straight up Italian and Portuguese descended Brazilians with the occasional Germans. Hell Ricky Martin was also basically European descent.
All Latin Americans aren't partially Amerindian or Mullatto just like not all North Americans are. The USA has over 40 million African Americans, does that mean all Americans are black?
I blame this misconception on the Anglosphere, making latino synonymous with Mestizos from Mexico. And also the popular belief that anyone who isn't English speaking or super blonde and blue eyed is not white.
Lol how can you possibly say latinos aren't white
Is t an American thing? Because in Europe they would consider themselves white
I'm just gonna pull a wild card and say she's Gothic :)
The Ostrogoths lived in Italy and the Visigoths lived in Spain, and the overall debate here seems like it's Latino (who speak a variation of Spanish) vs Italian, so... she's a Goth.
(I'm probably totally wrong here but whatev -__-)
@thepreface: So are you saying that aren't full european descendents on Latin America? Did you go to school?
I hope to clarify your doubts
the real Latin countries are the Europeans
The Latin countries are mainly :
Italy
Spain.
Portugal
France
Belgium (Wallonia)
Switzerland (Italian Switzerland, Romandía)
Romania
Moldova
Greece
Andorra
Monaco
Latin Americans are mestizos: Spanish people - Native Americans
being Latino is not about a race or an ethnic group maybe it is closer to an cultural heritage

If you are Italian, you are very Latino
( translated from Spanish Castillan of Spain by the google translator )
@zubatcarteira: Do white people even exist? I think they’re something the government made up to keep the working class down.
@lil_remains: Nah, since humanity came from Africa, everyone is technically black.

True story, I got a really good tan this summer an was able to fill out "African American" on an insurance application ;)
@cattlebattle: A classic.
@cattlebattle: Couldn’t you have filled that out regardless? The insurance people don’t really care, AFAIK.
