Worst place for families ever! Elevator is not working, you have to carry the stroller up and down the stairs every time. Essex House itself does not have a pool anymore, but as a hotel guest you can use the pool at Clevelander next door. However, there are no kids allowed at the Clevelander pool and pool area, so if you are a family travelling with your kids, there is no hotel pool that you can use. You do get to pay the resort fee though. It would have been nice to know that there is no pool before check in, we would have never stayed there. If you don‘t want families to stay at your hotel, please say so on your homepage!
I finally get the extreme reviews. As I walked in, a nicely dressed young gal was walking out saying, I refuse to stay here, it’s disgusting. Rightly so at almost $500 a night when next weekend is $199. People paying that kind of money want a nice place. These average hotels cannot jack up the rates and expect good reviews. If you are paying $150 a night here and want to be near the action, want to get drunk and pass out through all the neighborhood noise, slamming doors, loud cars, early garbage trucks and an air conditioner that sounds like a cross between a leaf blower and a semi truck, then this place is perfect. The staff is nice. The room is cute. Great location. If you are paying $500 a night, thinking you’re getting a $500 a night place, I feel you may feel like the gal…
Great Hotel ( Art Deco boutique hotel)very convenient to everything In South Beach from the restaurants, clubs, shops including Walgreens etc. Friendly and accommodating staff, clean rooms . Refrigerator and microwave included upon request and availability.
We booked three rooms at this hotel for one night prior to cruise departure. Nice hotel, but the staff is all young and customer service isn't their strong suit. Biggest problem we had is one room had no functioning toilet and maintenance never came and they had to live in toilet water on the floor the whole night. Literally my son had to come use the restroom in our room. We asked for a credit via Expedia and the hotel wouldn't even answer the phone for hours to speak with them. When we intervened and got a second number, they refused and made us pay everything except $28 per room which is the local fee. This hotel is old and falling apart. Please do yourself a favor and run. Far away! Music also goes on until 5 am and our room faced the street. You can take it from…
I stayed one night at the Essex Hotel with my husband and son. The location is great! One short block from Ocean Drive! The decor however, should definitely be a priority, and we did see a sign announcing the property is being upgraded, although nothing was happening in the lobby or room areas that we could see. I can appreciate that it’s a retro boutique hotel, but the style is no longer attractive or charming. Our room was ok. It was clean and quiet. I do have a pet peeve about double beds in a hotel room, as I feel they should be queens, but that’s not exclusive to the Essex. The covered porch area is nice & great for relaxing & people-watching. Breakfast is served next door at The Clevelander, which is a sister hotel. The complimentary food was simple (bagels,…
I had a wonderful stay at Essex house in Miami Beach. It´s just a beautiful hotel! Rosemary at the reception was kind, helpful and patient with all my different questions about Miami Beach. My room was super comfortable, clean and quiet! I was given a complimentary drink which I had at the next door hotel,Clevelander on their Latino night. I saw a nice crowd having fun and the DJ was amazing! Breakfast I had at the Essex restaurant which I can tell is a very popular spot. It was packed! Food was great and service very attentive. I'm really glad I chose Essex House for my short stay in Miami and would definitely stay there again. Gracias Rosemary for your kindness, I can tell you really enjoy your job and it certainly adds up to the great experience of staying at that…
After a long week, we arrived at South Beach. We were hot and tired and found an oasis at the Essex House. The staff, especially Christine, Rosemary and your male staff member with the dark wavy hair, made sure we had everything we needed to include a recommendation for an awesome Nail Salon. Thank YOU!!
Stayed here for part of a birthday weekend with a friend and would definitely come back. Art Deco building and lobby, nice bar staff and front desk staff were chatty and gave great local recommendations for Cuban food. Close walk to the beach and rooms were clean (nothing fancy but comfortable and modern).
Thankful and grateful for Carl at Essex of Clevelander. He was thoughtful and understanding and took care of me and my friend during our visit. I got the pleasure of being assisted by a young attentive professional who was very diligent about solving any issues that we experienced. I would definitely have to say that this was the best experience so far.
Title says it all, rooms were not clean, various parts of the room were very old and not taken care off. Staff seemed more interested in policies then helping people. Loud music played from attached restaurant. Would not recommend
