Released in 2014, Facebook emojis were not only used for the social media platform, but also for Messenger in Web and Android. However, Facebook for Android and iOS use the native emojis of the corresponding platform.
As of 2019, Facebook has included the Transgender Pride Flag in its emojis.
Facebook currently supports reaction to posts which are known as 'animated' emojis. They do not necessarily correspond to emojis in the Unicode standard, but rather only resemble them.
