It was by definition a "boutique hotel" so yes it was small, but definitly worked for the 4 nights we (2 people) were there. This hotel was right in the middle of downtown and right around the corner from tons of nightlife (bars, clubs) and great resturants. The nightclub that is attached to the club gets noisy at night, and even the staff says is overpriced.

you would expect more. central location but tiny rooms, little light, could get quite noisy. service is average. not adapted for business or families, maybe a short stay, touristic weekend. globally next time, I'll choose another one

You can walk everywere ... so a great location near Market Street, Union Square and Chinatown. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpfull. The rooms are small but sympa with everythink you can need for your stay. The bathroom was good with plenty of towels and toilet products. The very light continental breakfast was the worst ... very basic and simple; to drink only coffe, tea and juice and no milk at all.. Even so this is a great hotel to stay and enjoy the city. No doubt that I will use it again as it have a very good value for money

Yes, the location is great, near Union Square. And the website pictures entice. But the room had hardly space to walk around the double (not queen) bed, the window was screwed shut to the very noisy a.c./heat unit, so it was either stuffy or a.c. noise and blast. They wouldn't let us move to another room. No microwave. Weak coffee option. Fridge full of what they wanted us to buy and "well just put it all to one side" in a room with no spare sides. Plus side: cleaning service was excellant (we tipped accordingly). Security seemed good. Close to the start of the SF marathon, which is why I picked it.

If you want a cheap, clean, good location then this is for you the staff are very good and the rooms are comfortable and clean.location is on ELLIS ST which is not far from all the sights and waterfront is about 30 mins brisk walk but transport is cheap and close by bus and tram tickets are$14 per person and that is a multi ride ticket that lasts for 24hrs lots of places to eat but prices are on par with u.k.taxi rides are dear, cost us $42 to get from airport one way 30 min trip,

The skinny-wonderful idea, poor execution. This hotel needs more to be ranked among more worthy hotels.
Service is fine at Hotel Fusion and the staff does anything within reason to accommodate guests needs. 24 hour reception and service.  It is intended as an Asian/American blend and the lobby pulls it off well. The room was handicap accessible, leaving the possibility that all rooms are not as spacious. There was No Air Conditioner in the room. The staff sent up a portable  A/C unit. It wasn't enough with temperatures in the mid to upper 70's in the bay area. Also, though the room was very clean, there was a baby roach on the portable A/C. This was the only pest activity noticed. There is a refrigerator (overpriced snacks and minibar), safe, fan,  iron and board, and coffee maker in the room. No Microwave. Many trip advisors mention outside noise being a problem. This was non issue on the fifth floor. A room key must be used to operate the elevator. Breakfast is served in a cramped room on the top floor with bagels, fruit (be early for anything besides an orange), juice and coffee. It is a mediocre continental breakfast at best but is something to get the day started. Fusion has arrangements with a Town Car for transport to and from the airport. The price is around $50 which is comparable and more comfortable than a taxi. There is valet parking that costs around $30 per night. It requires around twenty minutes for retrieval once parked. Hotel Fusion is just around the corner from trolleys, Union Square, SOMA, and lots of food and shopping. Location is prime and for a bed and roof the hotel will suffice for a short stay.

Our assigned check-in room was really small to what I envisioned. I asked for a change of room if possible comparable to our travelling friends. The desk personal (manager? as he was in a suit), checked and came up with another room and asked us to go see if it is suitable. This room is the same as our friends. It has the vanity outside the bathroom, which is very handy. The bathroom also has a tub. The room is spacious. No A/C but there is an overhead fan. The temperature is warm, but with the fan on, it cool down very well. Had to turn it off after about 20 minutes. The free breakfast is on the 5th floor. It must a been a storage room converted. It has real orange juice, various danishes, cinnamon rolls, flake cereals, and fresh oranges as well as the coffee and tea. Need to take the tray of food to your room to eat. The location is great with no vehicle. The BART station, Union Square where all tour buses seem to stop, transit bus stops are all with 2 - 3 blocks. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Elevator is room card operated. Although close to Market St and Powell St, the room is quiet. There is a room safe, fridge - be sure it's on, and use of bath robes, Oh - they also provide turn-down bed service with chocolates. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Dear Kim E, Thank you for staying with Hotel Fusion on your recent visit to San Francisco, and many thanks for your detailed and descriptive review. Your feedback and input are greatly appreciated, and I am certain that our future guests will truly appreciate your review as well. I am glad to hear that the room transfer worked out for you, and I am relieved to hear that the ceiling fan sufficed on cooling the room. We will be getting a facelift soon, and air conditioners will be part of the project. Thank you for trying out our complimentary continental breakfast; Hotel Fusion is one of the few amongst our competitors that still offer complimentary breakfast. Our upcoming renovation will also include a banquet room with seating for all of our guests, and we can offer more varieties for breakfast. Thank you once again for being our guest, and giving us an outstanding review. Looking forward to your next visit!

The first thing to mention is that the hotel looks NOTHING like it does on the website. They have obviously employed a photographer with a really wide angle lens and slipped him a few extra dollars. Its probably a good time to mention that the owners ought to look up the word 'boutique'. In fact it is better described as a hostel.. So let us continue with our review of Hostel Fusion..

Next we were given our room and found that not only was it dark and dingy but it overlooked a tiny courtyard making the room unbearably hot. Here's we we discovered there was no air conditioning..!! On the first night we were struggling to breathe in the tiny room by 3am so I went down to see about the possibility of borrowing a fan, oxygen mask or changing rooms.

Next problem.. The Staff...!! Not only were they slow and incompetent but they gave the impression that customers were complaining about the same things daily.. In fact when we did complain they shrugged it off with 'I agree' It comes to something when the staff have no confidence in the place they work..

There is no real complaint about the breakfast as it is free which is great if you like cake and orange squash - (kids party anyone?) The strange thing is that it is served in a bedroom on the top floor which is a bit random..

If after reading the reviews you do decide to pick this hotel the Italian opposite is okay and the Irish bar round the corner is fine for a drink. Apart from that everything is very spread out in San Francisco... For a decent meal head 10 mins down market street, avoiding the tramps, to Zuni Cafe...

Hotel Fusion???
More like Delusion....

I would prefer Alcatraz over this place...

Dear Chrisyb1981, First, thank you for staying with Hotel Fusion on your recent visit to San Francisco, and thank you for your recent TripAdvisor review. We always take the time for each of the reviews to be personally reviewed by management and we make sure to share your comments with the appropriate department heads. We understand you may have experienced a room related issue while staying at Hotel Fusion. I am sorry to hear that the ceiling fans and box fans that we have in the rooms were not adequate on cooling the room and providing you with proper ventilation. I am also sorry that due to a sold out situation, we were unable to accommodate you to our Deluxe Rooms which are equipped with air conditioners. We will be undergoing a facelift soon, and we will also be adding more air conditioners to our rooms including our standard rooms. Our goal is to recognize we may not have met your expectations and we want to make it right. Please accept my personal apology for the inconvenience we caused you, and I do hope you will contact me directly for your next stay in San Francisco, and allow us to show you the best Hotel Fusion has to offer.

Location: Unbeatable. Two blocks or less from BART, MUNI, and a cable car line. No dragging suitcases onto a street car.

Service: Speedy check in, very nice staff. As I had a conversation with the front desk clerk, he told me that apparently some travelers are not aware that a hotel (any hotel) will put a temporary authorization on your credit card before the final bill is tallied. This is a common practice of hotels and rental car agencies world wide. Welcome to the 21st century. Enjoy your new BetaMax.

Cleanliness: No grossness to report. Yes, I checked for bedbugs: none.

Room fixtures: Everything in working order: lights, tv, etc.. Shower water became hot quickly, in room climate control was nice. I stayed in February so I cannot confirm whether or not the room had a/c.

Security: Room locks were sturdy and worked well. The elevator requires room key activation and the stairwell is near the front desk with camera coverage.

The View: I had room 429 with an inside view, i.e. a view of the other rooms right across the corridor. Otherwise, this hotel is between tall buildings with no real view to speak of. San Francisco is one stunning scenic view after another, so you will not suffer for lack of scenery. If you insist on a skyline vista out of your window, walk on by.

Breakfast: Nothing remarkable, but nice. Pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, etc. Just enough to get you going and out. Breakfast is on the 5th floor. The ice machine is on the 4th floor. Request a high room.

Size of the room: Yes, the room I had was very small. There was no more than 3 feet of space between the bed and the wall in any direction. I had to store my suitcase in the surprisingly large bathroom. I did not object to this, but I was disappointed to discover no traditional table or desk with a chair in this room. The room was just too small for any more furniture.

Noise levels: With an inside room on the 4th floor, I had absolutely no night club or street noise. The walls were a bit thin, so I could hear my neighbors' activities. If you honeymoon here, you may see an admiring crowd giving you a standing ovation when you exit your room.

Overall recommendation: Absolutely yes. Despite some mild issues mentioned above, this property is a great option for those looking for a home base from which to conquer San Fran but still want a real, grown up hotel.

Dear 285 Hryvnia, First and foremost, thank you for your recent TripAdvisor review, and for choosing Hotel Fusion as part of your San Francisco experience. I especially would like to thank you for posting a candid and a very entertaining review! Your feedback is greatly appreciated. We understand that you may have experienced a bit of an issue - breakfast and room size. First, room size: our building was erected in 1926, and due to structural challenges, all of our rooms vary in sizes. We have some rooms that are furnished with a desk and chair, and some do not as you experienced. On your next visit, I would welcome you to contact me directly and I will handle your reservation personally. Second, breakfast: we will be undergoing a renovation construction that includes a banquet room with ample seating for all of our guests. Once renovations are completed, we can offer more breakfast varieties to all of our guests. Thank you once again for posting a review on Trip Advisor, and please do keep Hotel Fusion in mind for your next visit to San Francisco.

The location was great and the staff was friendly. My room was extremely small - as was the twin bed - however it was just me staying there so it wasn't a big deal. I thought it was a good enough value for what I paid for the room.
