Well for starters let me say that this was the only time when we knew right at the start of filming that it was indeed our final season and that we were not coming back. Every other season, we didn't know what was going to happen both at the start and at the end of filming. With that in mind, it would explain the killing off of the majority of characters as the season went on. As I read my notes that I jotted down while re-watching this season, it seems like a lot happened but at the same time, not. Perhaps a little anticlimactic? I know I have heard a lot of people with the same sentiment of the final season not being as good as others or that perhaps the writers were grasping for new ideas? Having said that here are a few things that stood out for me, will keep it brief.
Loved how each episode highlighted a dead character of the past to help Hill with the narration. McManus with his maze on the gym floor to help people think things out I thought was a great concept that came in handy for so many of the characters. Finding Hills manuscript and wanting to publish it was a nice thing to have his story told. Said was the obvious person to take on that project, of course not without a hitch and ultimately Said's untimely death right when he was going to start on this endeavor. Arif to take over the task. Thoughts?
Timmy Kirk on death row was poetic justice and then of course he thinks he is Satan :-) That doesn't stop Jaz Hoyt from wanting to kill him and ultimately gets his chance when they have the Maxim photo shoot of inmates on death row and bye bye Kirk!!!!! Winthrop no longer wanting to be the Aryan agrees and ultimately kills Beecher's dad to prove himself. Felt bad for Beecher and there goes another dead man!!!!!
From a Telemarketing Company to a publishing company, how did we feel about all of that? I see where it shows McManus trying to get the inmates to do better, but will it really change people and did it fit into the overall OZ experience for the viewer?
Robson becoming Cutlers bitch and figuring out a way to get out of it, thus ending Cutler's life. That of course after Cutler introduces him to spooning, wtf? :-) How realistic was the fact that he would have been hung to death by a pair of pantyhose? I know that the fetish exist but as big as Cutler was and the positioning off of the top bunk just didn't seem feasible to me. Poor Cyril with the electro shock therapy, but love all the tender moments of seeing how much Ryan really loves his brother as well as his mom.
Busmalis seeing Norma pregnant and finding out that she got caught in the snowstorm the day of their wedding. Rebadow falling for Stella. Want to keep this ne short and say that my overall favorite thin was having 3 Broadway legends; Betty Buckley, Patti Lupone and Rita Moreno all on at the same time. That to me was the most brilliant of this season and I happen to get along with all 3 of them beautifully and am fortunate and humbled bein gin their presence.
The body count continues as the show draws it's conclusion. More to come with the final episodes. Thanks for always being here with me, til the next time..... :-) xoxoxoxo
