Shortly after arriving in Vernworth to prove your identity as the true Arisen, you will help Captain Brant by completing errands to improve public opinion of yourself as the true Arisen. Of course, your deeds don't go unnoticed by the opposition, and you soon notice someone spying on you. Below, we'll take a look at how to find this spy and what you should do with them in The Arisen's Shadow quest.

How To Start The Arisen's Shadow Quest

The Arisen speaks with Brant about Disa's Plot, Monster Culling, and The Magistrate.

The Arisen's Shadow quest will automatically begin after completing certain objectives for Captain Brant after you arrive in Vernworth. Most likely, this will be after you finish the three Monster Culling requests and report your results to Brant.

If the quest still doesn't start, try completing more of Brant's requests, or spend more time in Vernworth.

How To Complete The Arisen's Shadow Quest

The first step to completing this quest is to locate the person trailing you. You can do this at any time of the day in Vernworth. Occasionally, while running around, your Pawns may comment something about how there are eyes upon you, or they feel like they're being watched. When this dialogue triggers, stop and take a look around.

You're looking for a person named Bermudo wearing brown leather clothes with a hood covering his head. Sometimes, he might run past you. If you stop and watch carefully, you should be able to spot him.

You may have to get creative to find and catch Bermudo. Try waiting for him down a long alley, or jumping on him from a second story.

Now that you've seen Bermudo, you'll need to chase after him and grab him to pin him to the ground.

Should You Apprehend Or Release Bermudo?

Once you've grabbed Bermudo, you will be given two options: refuse to let him go, or demand compensation first. If you refuse to let Bermudo go, a fight will ensue. Similarly, if you demand money, and then refuse once Bermudo offers you gold, you'll have to fight him.

On the other hand, you can accept his offer, take the gold, and let him go. This will reward you with 5000 gold.

If you fight Bermudo, you need to be sure not to kill him. After a few moments, Captain Brant will appear and break up the fight. At this point, you will speak with Brant, who will tell you that Bermudo is a spy from Battahl. Brant will tell you to wait for a few days for him to get more information out of the spy.

After waiting a few days, return to Brant and the quest will be complete, rewarding you with 4000 gold. However, Brant will also tell you that they are keeping Bermudo in custody and that he'll let you know if he learns anything else. You can then return to Brant on occasion to get updates.
