The 49ers are going to be without Elijah Mitchell in Week 11 versus the Jaguars, meaning Jeff Wilson Jr. will get the start at running back.

The San Francisco 49ers are going to be without one of their best offensive weapons in Week 11 on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Running back Elijah Mitchell, who was such a big part of the Niners’ Week 10 Monday Night Football win over the Los Angeles Rams, namely the part where San Francisco rushed a whopping 44 times, is going to be inactive for Week 11 because of a broken finger suffered during the game. That injury ended up requiring a minor surgery, and while there was hope Mitchell would be cleared for Sunday’s road contest against the Jaguars, he’ll officially miss the bout.

Additionally, fellow running back JaMycal Hasty will miss the game with an ankle injury.

49ers Week 11 inactives vs. Jaguars

The 49ers listed the following players as inactive for Week 11:

  • RB Elijah Mitchell
  • RB JaMycal Hasty
  • DL Maurice Hurst
  • OL Colton McKivitz

McKivitz is the lone player who isn’t dealing with an injury, as Hurst has been dealing with a calf injury for much of the season.

Jeff Wilson Jr. to get the start at running back for 49ers

Already down two running backs for the game, the Niners are likely to insert veteran running back Jeff Wilson Jr. into the team’s starting job for Week 11.

Rookie Trey Sermon also figures to see an uptick in carries after being scantly involved in the offense in recent weeks.

Wilson, who made his 2021 season debut a week ago after suffering a torn meniscus during the offseason, rushed for 28 yards on 10 carries. Last year, however, Wilson was asked to start three times and managed to produce two 100-yard games of those three.

The hope will be for Wilson to have yet another top-quality game against a Jacksonville defense allowing an average of just 3.9 rush yards per carry, one of the few areas in which the Jaguars have performed well this season.

Kickoff between these two teams is at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 21 from TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida.
