WoW SoD Melee Hunter Talents & Runes

Choose the following talents and runes as a melee Hunter for the Phase 3 raid Sunken Temple at level 50:

Note: only one Hunter needs to use Heart of the Lion for the raid. If there are multiple Hunters in a raid, the second Hunter will use Master Marksman. Learn where to find each rune in our guide Hunter Runes in Season of Discovery.

WoW SoD Ranged Hunter Talents & Runes

Choose the following talents and runes as a ranged Hunter for the Phase 3 raid Sunken Temple at level 50:

If you’re comfortable to play without Hawk Eye, you can increase Improved Hunter's Mark to 4/5 instead. If another Hunter in your raid is providing Improved Hunter's Mark you can invest your points into Improved Arcane Shot.

Best Hunter Pet in SoD

Hunter Rotation

The rotation for a Hunter depends on whether you play as ranged or melee Hunter.

Melee Hunter Rotation

Use the following priority list as a melee Hunter:

Use Raptor Strike if it’s available.
Use Flanking Strike if it’s available.
Use Wing Clip to fish for Windfury procs

Since the patch on February 27, stack management is obsolete. To optimize your DPS further, you can use Bestial Wrath when your pet has full resources, e.g. at the beginning of a fight or phase transition.

Ranged Hunter Rotation

Use the following rotation as a ranged Hunter:

Cast Serpent Sting, if the debuff is not active.
Cast Explosive Trap.
Cast 2x Chimera Shot.
Cast Aimed Shot.
Cast Multi-Shot.
Cast Frost Trap. If mana is not an issue, cast Freezing Trap instead.
Cast 2x Chimera Shot.
Cast Aimed Shot.

To increase your DPS further, you can pre-cast an Aimed Shot before the boss gets pulled. Pay attention, that you don’t have 5 stacks of Sniper Training while pre-casting. Additionally, one Hunter should always keep Hunter's Mark active.

Hunter Raid Consumables

The following list of consumables can be used by a Hunter in Sunken Temple:

Dense Sharpening Stone / Shadow Oil ( melee only)

Atal'ai Mojo of War

Don’t use Dense Sharpening Stone or Shadow Oil on your main-hand weapon, if you have Windfury Totem or Wild Strikes in your party. Always use it on your off-hand weapon, if you’re dual-wielding.

To get Atal'ai Mojo of War you need to get one Flask of Atal'ai Mojo from Sunken Temple. Head over to Stranglethorn Vale at 15.2 15.6 to buy Atal'ai Mojo of War.

* Greater Arcane Elixir is a DPS increase for ranged Hunters. For melee Hunters it slightly increases the effects of Dragonbreath Chili and Shadow Oil.

Electromantic Chausses and Electromantic Grounding Sabatons are viable as long as you don’t break the 2-piece set bonus. If you get better boots you should swap legs and boots.

As a Hunter you want to prioritize gear with the following stats:

Hit Chance (up to 6% against enemies 2 levels above you like raid bosses in Level Up Raids)
Crit Chance
Agility
Strength ( melee spec only]
Attack Power ~ Ranged Attack Power

After having a 6% hit chance when fighting against bosses in Level Up Raids, Hit Chance loses some of its value.
