It’s never too soon to be planning for the holidays, it seems. And in this case, a lot of big planning is needed.

Union Depot in St. Paul has started its search for a 50- to 70-foot-tall evergreen tree for its 2021 Hub for the Holidays events. The evergreen, which is placed near the front entrance, is the centerpiece of the depot’s annual holiday festivities and is lighted with more than 15,000 lights.

Here are the requirements, according to a Union Depot news release:

  • It must have overgrown its location or have other reasons for removal.
  • It must be in good condition as the tree will be viewed from 360 degrees on the North Plaza.
  • It must be within Ramsey County.

Ramsey County residents who might have such a tree (and would like to have it removed free of charge), should email their address and a photo of the tree to info@uniondepot.org or call 651-202-2702. The deadline for submissions is Aug. 31.
