This unnamed American woman was the former one-night stand of Azami Nakiri and the mother of the infamous Asahi Nakiri who died for unknown reasons prior to the beginning of the series.
Appearance[]
She was a slender white woman who was once attractive with waist-length black hair and light-colored eyes.
Being an alcoholic, this woman rarely looked after her appearance and often appeared in dirty rags.
Personality[]
This woman was on the promiscuous side and she could be awfully stubborn that one of her former drinking buddies described her as "a shameless gold digger who would get in the pants of every good-lookin' guy with money she came across". She was not a good mother to Asahi Nakiri, as she did not care for his well-being, subjected him to domestic violence and said terrible things to him (possibly due to her progressive alcoholism). She also seems to have held a lifelong grudge against Azami Nakamura for abandoning her in the past, but it seems that she initially liked him very much, as she gave their common son a Japanese name in honor of the nationality of Asahi's paternal side.
Biography[]
Much of this woman's history is unknown. At the age of 18, she met a tipsy young Azami Nakamura and they spent the night together. At that time, Azami was experiencing a severe depression after Jōichirō left their academy and nothing bothered him, so he quickly finished his business trips in America and went back to Japan, never again interested in the fate of his accidental mistress.[2] From this fleeting affair, the woman gave birth to a son named Asahi Nakiri.
This woman lived with little Asahi in a very poor neighborhood in the northern part of America where she did not care much about the fact that her son was in unsanitary conditions and at some point she became very addicted to alcohol. When Asahi got in her way or tried to give her water instead of booze, she tried to kill him (for example, drown him in the sink).[1]
When Asahi was 7 years old, his mother died for unknown reasons and he ended up in an orphanage.[4]
For many years, no one came to this woman's grave except her former drinking buddies and acquaintances and only on the anniversaries of her death. Asahi also did not like to think about his mother, and only once told Erina Nakiri about her in honor of their future wedding, which he dreamed about a lot.[1]
After losing the BLUE, Asahi, trying to find his new life path, visited his mother's grave for the first time since the funeral. After overhearing a conversation between her former drinking buddies about the alleged father of her child, Asahi finally decided to find out the identity of his biological father, who turned out to be the notorious Azami. Around the same time, Azami briefly told his daughter Erina about his American ex-mistress. In the end, father and daughter together went to New York to find Asahi and accept him into the Nakiri clan, which they successfully managed.[2]

- Throughout the storyline, this woman has remained nameless.
- However, her name was listed on her gravestone, but Yūto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki didn't give fans the opportunity to make out the small print.
- In the manga, her face was visible in flashbacks, but she only appeared from the back in the anime.
- She is the second mother who is deceased prior to the events of the series, with the first mother being Tamako Yukihira (Sōma Yukihira's mother).
