Donovan Marine announces three acquisitions

Donovan Marine said it acquired V&V Marine, Southern Marine and Houston Marine and opened distribution centers in Paducah, Ky., and Chicago.

The Louisiana-based marine supplier, which celebrated its centennial last year, said Southern Marine adds one of the strongest management teams in the industry to the company. The new management capacity allows the company to reorganize to increase efficiency and customer service while enabling it to better concentrate its efforts in each of its major market segments, Donovan said.

Separately, the company said Alden Heaphy will manage its saltwater division, Rick Willis will manage the freshwater division and Steve Garver will manage the commercial division.

Donovan said each division will make its own decisions, including product selection and sales and marketing strategies, while coordinating with the other groups, taking advantage of the company’s expertise, volume and efficiencies.

Donovan said it has more than 325 employees, 19 regional warehouses and a 35,000-item inventory.
