Translation[edit]

Im not sure how to translate Entlastungsgerinne. I believe it's a side channel built parallel to the Danube that is used to help control the river's height when it begins to fill up... Not sure what that would be in English! -Grubber, 25 June 2005

Name is Donau City on Vienna's website[edit]

This is Donau City in the German language on the Vienna city website wien.at at http://www.wien.gv.at/stadtentwicklung/donaucity/ yet that was a redlink until I just created the redirect here. Is there even any reliable source for "Donaustadt"? Or are there slightly different things involved here, different government entities or whatever? Gene Nygaard (talk) 10:44, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Okay, in looking more closely at the article, I see:
"In addition to these eight territories, Donaustadt also contains a ninth area, Donau City (officially part of Kaisermühlen), which is between the Alte Donau ("Old Danube") and Neue Donau ("New Danube")."
In any case, the redirect here is still appropriate. Gene Nygaard (talk) 10:48, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Created[edit]

The article "Donaustadt" was created by German-speaking occasional user Grubber on 25-June-2005 as a short article (never a stub), who also added the infobox on 13 July 2005. The article had only minor additions during the next 4 years, but was listed with WP:WikiProject Vienna for expanded translation. On 25-Dec-2008, some sections were added with translations for Geology, Culture, Area museums, plus References. -Wikid77 (talk) 00:16, 26 December 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Reader interest[edit]

25-Dec-2008: According to automated stats in 2008, article "Donaustadt" was read about 690 times per month (23 times per day), although some might have been robotic bot scans (rare articles are read 1-7 times per day). Meanwhile, article "Vienna" was read nearly 100x times more, averaging about 2,500 readings per day. -Wikid77 (talk) 00:16, 26 December 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Layout[edit]

25-Dec-2008: The layout of the article was copied, in December 2008, from the German Wikipedia. I have been modifying the infobox to specify parameters for a more narrow display, with image_coat_width=110px and marginleft=0.7em allowing wider text outside the infobox on the leftside. -Wikid77 (talk) 00:16, 26 December 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Expanding history/space/references[edit]

25-Dec-2008: I am currently expanding text for History, and Population, noting translation from German Wikipedia. In 2008, English Wikipedia continued to have unscreened articles, so verification is heavily dependent on listing the references, which are intended as "the source" of reliability for readers. -Wikid77 (talk) 00:16, 26 December 2008 (UTC)Reply[reply]
