Reign of Giants
Who would be the best character for a relatively new player? I have Reign of Giants and have so far, Wilson, Willow, Wolfgang, Wendy, and Webber. I do like Willow, Wendy, and Webber for their fire, ghost, and spider abilities respectively. Things I usually look for in a character: A person who has some resistance, has a better stomach and can eat most things, good sanity, and somebody who can befriend monsters easily. Should I stick to a character on this list or should I try to get a new character and stick to that?

The best character is the one you enjoy the most
The strongest character(s) in RoG only are Wicker, Wolf, and WX
The strongest character if you have the other DLC is WX by a long long shot

A few things.
A. Water doesn't actually damage WX that much
B. Even if it did lightning heals you
C. Overcharge for days is an understatement. Overcharge for literal years
D. You want gears? SW literally throws them at you.
E. Poison immunity is a strong perk for an already strong character.
F. SW has 100% wetness resistance items that don't provide lightning immunity
I've enjoyed trying all of them at least once since they all come with different limitations and abilities. I think that way you can find one you really like the best

I also love wormwood, but wormwood is in hamlet, not RoG or the base game...
You can have wormwood in RoG with the sky thingamagig
For a new player, willow, early game lighter helps a lot, and fire immunity in late-game for fire farms, but we'll only count the early game because you won't survive for more than 1 year. Wendy is really good against tiny crowded enemies, but she's bad against big bois because doesn't hits very hard. And webber, I won't recommend him, he's just too different from the others, but he's almost the perfect character what you wanted. Can eat monster meat, so easy food, can befriend spiders, who are the commonest mobs in game, but his sanity is just 100, what's the lowest of all. Actually, I recommend wendy, she kills spooders and bees easily for food, has a follower, and lower sanity aura from darkness. All what you wanted for early game.
Edit: and abigail will tank you, resistance is done too.
Wendy if you want an easy time, Abigail helps a LOT
Wigfrid. Carnivore diet but she is a beast so it’s not a problem.
