What travelers are saying
- NemoTravelerAarhus, Denmark697 contributionsThe museum is located in an industrial area in the northwestern part of Dessau with ample free parking available in front of the museum. The large restored industrial building is the actual site of the former Junkers Aircraft Company.
Hugo Junkers was a German engineer and inventor with important ties to Dessau, where his career began in a company producing gas heaters. Junkers is probably best known for his pioneering aircraft design such as the first practical all-metal aircraft, the J 1 from 1915.
After 1933 the Nazis took power and requested Hugo Junkers to assist in the German re-armament. As Junkers declined this he was placed under house arrest and he died in 1935. The Nazis took control of his companies and during WWII a number of combat and transportation aircraft were produced here.
The museum has a large number of exhibits, including gas heaters, which was also produced in Dessau after WWII. A fully restored F 13 and the large JU 52 are among the highlights of the museum and it is actually possible to walk inside the JU 52.
It is also possible to book a virtual flight to the moon or try a flight simulator (additional fees).
The museum was established in 2001 thanks to local sponsors and the support of the state of Sachsen-Anhalt, and it is definitely worth a visit.Written September 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andrew PGuildford, UK61 contributionsThe small park has a most charming house and some simple but noteworthy follies in its grounds. Go on a Sunday when a local quintet can sometimes be found playing classical music in one of the arbours. Easy walking and easily photographable.Written September 29, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

I have visited Dessau again in 1986 - it was still a Ruin!
On my last visit in 2009 I experienced the fully restored Johannbau in it's former Glory!

- Adventuress117Sevenoaks, UK14 contributionsThe Tierpark/zoo is located just a few minutes' walk from Dessau railway station. it is well-laid out and is located in a tranquil and attractive setting. The animals and birds are housed in spacious enclosures. We really enjoyed our afternoon visit to the Tierpark.
Due to the effects of Covid-19, the zoo is short of funding so, if you are in Dessau, please do support it.Written September 5, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was built around 1907 and recently restored. Really worth entering to enjoy the interior. For a 1 hour swim, you pay only 3€. You get a token that's needed for entering the place, using the wardrobe and to get out. Whirlpools have been added. It's very clean inside. The pool is rather small and not too deep, maximum 1,80m. Olympic swimmers can better go for an alternative. But if you prefer a swim in an art nouveau setting, this is a must. Opening hours are every day a bit different, in general from around noon to 6.30, 7.30 or 9.30pm during the week. The swimming pool opens and closes earlier in the weekend. Exact hours can be found on the city web pages.
Its original name was City Swimming Pool, but nowadays it's promoted as a Health Bath (Gesundheitsbad).Written May 23, 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
