Juan Pedro Lopez won the 47th edition of the Tour of the Alps. For the second time in the history of the race organized by the G8 Alto Garda, a Spaniard is on the top step of the podium, after the success in 2016 of the Basque Mikel Landa.
Giving Lopez a hard time in the Trentino stage, 118.6 kilometers which opened and closed in LevicoTerme, were the Dutchman Wouter Poels and the Italian AntonioTiberi. The 22-year-old from Lazio finished third in the general classification, 42 seconds behind Lopez and also behind the Australian Ben O'Connor, second, 38 seconds behind Lopez.
"I'm happy and excited. I think of my family, my friends but above all Luca Guercilena who isn't having a good time. This victory is for him - said Lopez in the post-race conference, dedicating the success to his team manager -. We knew from It would have been tough at the start, but today my team demonstrated all its value, displaying great competence on the climbs. Compared to 2022 when I wore the pink jersey at the Giro, I am a stronger rider."
