Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is Australia's proudest royal export.

Since joining the Danish Royal Family in 2004, Mary, 51, has thrived.

She and husband Crown Prince Frederik are parents to four beautiful children and have shown dedication and commitment to the royal family, not to mention devotion to each other.

Crown Princess Mary has written a note to her late mother Henrietta as she officially opened the National Bereavement Centre in Vejle on August 22.

Mary, 51, spoke about the importance of being open about grief, stressing that "no one, regardless of age, should be left alone with their grief".

"Studies show that many children and young people feel lonely when parents become seriously ill or die," the Crown Princess said.

The new centre has a special focus on nature which includes a 'Memory Tree'.

Mary said the tree was "a symbolic and ritual place where you can both express, reflect and process your grief".

"As part of the dedication, I would like to put a greeting on the Memorial Tree for my mother, whom I lost many years ago," she added.

Henrietta Clark Donaldson died on November 20, 1997, following complications from heart surgery.

Crown Princess Mary is patron of the National Bereavement Centre and the Danish Heart Association.

On the second day of their official visit to Denmark, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife Olena Zelenska were welcomed to Christiansborg Palace.

Queen Margrethe II was joined by Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary as the monarch hosted a tour of the palace in Copenhagen on Monday August 21, 2023.

The special guests were treated to breakfast inside the Queen's library before posing for photos.

The Danish royals and Ukraine's President and First Lady toured the Great Hall inside Christiansborg Palace, where official banquets and special events are regularly held.

The Queen also presented the visiting couple with a painting of a tree she did in the 1990s, titled 'Tree of Life'.

On Sunday August 21, soon after the Ukrainian President and his wife touched down in Denmark, Crown Princess Mary and the First Lady attended a mass at Haderslev Cathedral.

Ukrainians living in the area, together with the Danish congregation, were invited to the service to mark the close ties between the two countries.

Crown Princess Mary visited the LEGO Charity on Monday August 14, 2023, to help assemble backpacks for children in need.

The backpacks are given to children who arrive at crisis centres with their mothers and contain essentials including toys, books, crayons and practical items such as towels, a toothbrush and clothes. 

Since 2015 The Mary Foundation, the Ole Kirk's Foundation (named after the founder of LEGO) and charity LOKK have distributed more than 30,000 backpacks to children.

The visit on August 14, in Billund west of Copenhagen, was Mary's second for the day after returning from her summer holiday.

Crown Prince Frederik shared a throwback photo of his wife Crown Princess Mary and their daughter Princess Josephine for Mother's Day on May 14, 2023, which was also their wedding anniversary.

In the photo we see Mary, 51, sharing an ice-cream with their daughter when she was a toddler.

The caption, which has been translated from Danish to English, reads, "My wife and I have our wedding anniversary today. A very special day for both of us, which we like to mark - preferably with our four children.

"This year the day coincides with Mother's Day. Therefore, a special loving greeting to you, Mary, as a spouse and as a mother.

"At the same time, I would like to wish a happy Mother's Day to all mothers around the country. ✍️ H.K.H. The Crown Prince."

The couple mark their 19th wedding anniversary this year, having wed in 2004.

Frederik's tribute has been shared on the Danish royal family's official Instagram account.



Princess Mary and husband Crown Prince Frederik made their way to Westminster Abbey for the coronation of King Charles on May 6, 2023.

Mary opted for a regal purple coat dress and a matching headpiece.

Mary wore a turquoise brooch and matching earrings that belong to her mother-in-law, Denmark's Queen Margrethe.

Mary also wore the earrings at daughter Princess Isabella's confirmation for the first time last year.

Crown Princess Mary has not let jetlag get in the way of her official duties.

Just hours after flying home from Sydney, Australia, the Danish royal was at Copenhagen Cathedral on Sunday April 30, 2023.

Mary was there to mark 75 years since women were allowed to be ordained as priests in the Lutheran church.

Australians were treated to a special visit by Crown Princess Mary on Friday April 28.

Mary spent the day in Sydney, the final stop of her tour of the South Pacific focused on green energy and sustainability.

Later, Mary toured the six-star green rated Quay Quarter Tower which was designed by a Dane.

The brief visit was Crown Princess Mary's first official appearance in Australia in 10 years.

The Danish royal spent two days in Vanuatu on Sunday and Monday, before moving to nearby Fiji (pictured here).

Her week-long visit to the region was focused on consequences of climate change to island communities.

The islands of Vanuatu and Fiji belong to the group of small developing states that are increasingly experiencing the consequences of global climate change.

Here, Crown Princess Mary tours the Vanuatu island of Pele, which was badly affected by the two cyclones and two earthquakes that have recently hit the region.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark visited the Presidential Palace on the third day of their tour of India.

The Danish royals took in the sights of the building, known as the Rashtrapati Bhavan, in New Delhi on Tuesday February 28.

The Crown Princess wore yet another wardrobe repeat of the tour so far, a colourful silk duster coat by Italian brand Etro, which retailed for just under $3000.

The palace was completed in 1926 and was then called Viceroy's House when India was under the control of the British Raj.

The building was renamed in 1950 following India's independence and is now the official residence of the president.

Here, the Crown Prince couple lay a wreath at the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, 75 years after his assassination, in New Delhi.

While at the memorial, the stylish royals swapped their shoes for white disposable slippers.

The unusual footwear was a requirement as they laid a wreath at the site.
