Best documentary I've seen in years.
biggahoolefan19 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Dinesh D'Souza nails it again with this brilliantly narrative that exposes the Democratic Party for what it truly is - intolerant fascists whose racist history is shown simply by naming the facts.

The story of Sophie Scholl alone is enough to watch it. She was an extremely brave woman who stood up to the Nazis and was ultimately executed for it. She was only 21 years old.

I strongly recommend this film for anyone - yes, that includes anyone on the left who supports free speech, because they do exist. Don't believe one word of the negative reviews. It's all leftist lies.

A great documentary
fapt-065155 November 2018
This was a great documentary that presented very credible sources regarding the subject matter in it. I have only seeing extremely negative things said about this movie, but I have not seen a single person debunking anything from what is said in this movie, only angry Democrats. 10/10

Excellence in intelligence and direction
davidepsteiniphone11 August 2018
The concern the director acknowledges is the conditions of the people being in power who will validate his concerns is the people taking care 1. Have not come to position in a direction taking care of their self and 2. Must only take care of people weaker than their self with less help than their self.

Perhaps in the situations of preserving, protecting and defending an individual's independence, I think to leverage is the key to success. After all, not being dependent is independence and the others' opinion can't ever trump self autonomy of the people taking responsibility for their actions.

The difference is in the experience in executing plans to get what is necessary to be in a lifestyle capable of taking care of yourself. Unfortunately, one side allows for a conservative approach after goals are achieved and another takes away what is earned and distributes to those who you are trying to protect yourself from in the first place.

Constitutionally, a matter of opinion should always be acceptable. A matter of choice should be too if it's legal.

Historical Facts are Hard to Deal With Sometimes
portside-9363911 November 2018
If you've been fed a narrative by your professors and leftist media in America and aren't open to historical facts that fly in the face of your ideology, you will like 37% of the people in this country, hate this movie. If you are open to what history is teaching us so we can develop as a people and change the way we conduct our business then you will appreciate this film. Its easy to read the reviews and determine who certain people voted for because like all leftist, they attack the quality of the film yet none can attack the content and prove any of it incorrect. That's the side of history i prefer to be on personally. I spent 40 years of my life having real propaganda fed to me on a daily basis. I was horrified with myself when i learned the truth about what i was supporting. This film as well as Hillary's America opens your eyes in big ways. I show these movies to as many people as possible. Don't let the reviews here scare you off, just watch and decide for yourself.

Some people rather live a lie then see reality that they are not the good guys.
dancollege16 November 2018
Movie simply state facts but too many leftists who didn't watch the movie or watch it with hate instead of see reality. Today's left are 1935s germans who only woke the hell up after being forced to see evidence of their actions of evil. It sad how some people's ego and blind hate instead of seeing truth. Watch this movie with open minded, yes that includes you so called open minded Democrats.

Warning: Spoilers
I was fact checking this along the way as I was watching it. The two hour film took me 4 hours to watch because there were a lot of things I was not aware of. It checks out, although the 25 point NAZI program also has similarities with Republicans and Democrats.

Discussed in the documentary is the fact that the KKK was an extension of the Democratic party. Slavery was an extension of the Democratic party. He addresses the "The parties switched sides!!!" myth. Which members of the Democrats became Republicans? He answers.

Watching the interview with Richard Spencer was highly informative that goes against the mainstream media's narrative equating him to Trump's movement. Spencer open says he is for socialism and national healthcare. Spencer also names the best presidents in his opinion: two Democrats. Very surprising.

Good Lincoln line shared in the movie: "You work and toil and earn bread, and I'll eat it."

Overall a very educational documentary.

This movie tells the truth
iceman888693 December 2018
This movie does an outstanding job of describing exactly what the left was, is and what their true goals are, even if they don't know it themselves. It shows that the downfall of the United States will be the left's doing, if they are not stopped.

Accurate history, but ends with a strong partisan slant
steveew6 August 2018
It's amazing that everyone is just reviewing this based on their politics and going either 0 or 10. I have my own politics, but I'm trying to view this as a documentary -- and like all documentaries, it does try to make a point.

D'Souza likes to point out the hypocritical claims of politicians (Democrats in particular) about their history that just aren't true. He rightfully points out that to the extent the tenants of 1930's Nazism apply to any party ... they now overwhelmingly apply to the left/Democrats. Not mass-murder/genocide, of course, neither party promotes that -- but the concepts of government managing all business with all wealth and important societal features controlled by the state.

Of course Nazism was national socialism, whereas Democrats are more global socialism ... but calling Republicans Nazis makes no sense anymore. It was based strictly on the fact that Republicans tend to be more nationalists, which is a part of Nazism, but that's where the similarities end.

I think many of D'Souza'sother movies that cover the same subjects are much better put together and more interesting, and this one is rather like a really interesting history lesson that then turns into a Republican party cheering session at the end, but still worthwhile. If you only want to see one D'Souza movie, I'd suggest 2016. But this one is interesting if you're trying to figure out the Trump era and why so many people voted for him/like him.

A thorough history of fascism
i_hijump9 August 2018
D'Sousa goes into great detail and provides clarity to the history of 20th century fascism. He also shows how the racism of the Democrat party never went away, never "flipped" to the Republican party and exists today just as it did 150 years ago.

You must see this film. If nothing else, it should cause you to go to the library and pick up an old history book that might not have the "revisions" you find on the internet.

Would Legit Be Such A Good Satire
vaultoverseer_1520 August 2021
Death of a Nation is another one of D'Souza's movies that is so poorly made that it has no chance of persuading anyone who isn't feverishly in love with his opinions. I don't like writing about politics on imdb, that's not what this platform is for, but to me this movie is just so poorly made that I don't even need to talk about why his points are bad and wrong. That comes down to two issues.

1. The ridiculous over-emotional production. Now, I get that this is really important to Dinesh, but this movie does not need to be extreme as it is. Constantly music is blaring in every scene to indicate the emotion you are meant to feel. The evil lefties come on, the imperial march starts playing as we fear the end of everything. Then Trump comes on, and we get uplifting country sounds to remind us that Trumps is A GOSHDARN 'MERICAN. I don't mind using music but when you really want us to feel something in a documentary, that's when you turn the music off and just show us raw interviews, footage etc. We see Dinesh exploring the city, desperate to discover the truth. Just watching the movie you get a clear sense of narcissism, as Dinesh not only talks about himself in great detail but in lots of self congratulation. But the real highlight is the Nazi subplot. Someone thought to put in third rate Hitler to make this seem more connected. It only ties up to the ridiculous "National SOCIALISM is actually left-wing" argument that I swear he's made in another movie, but otherwise just brings a lot of unintentional entertainment value. Like seriously they get the most lazy hitler ever.

2. Actually convincing anybody. If you aren't completely on his side, you won't be persuaded by this. To me it's not just a matter of disagreement. D'Souza doesn't give a real argument as to why "Dems bad" and "Trump good". He likes Trump because he wont support the terrible democrats, but it's never explicitly clear why the democrats are so bad. He basically says they supported fascism and racism etc but never explains why they still do (which he kinda implies). He implies that the left wants socialism. I understand to a lot of people hear that word and throw up, but even then those people are never given any reason to believe that because D'Souza never really explains how they are socialist. Part of the problem is that he only debates right wing people so that he can't really argue the positions. Even if he just did out of clips and what people say, he is so ridiculously inconsistent with his depictions. For most of the movie, he likes to call dems the REAL fascists. But then occassionally he just takes time to show clips of lefties to insult them. Considering he never makes a distinction between liberals and lefties it just comes across as though he doesn't really have a good argument, he's just insulting the people he disagrees with.

Here's the thing - if I was Dinesh I'd do a bunch differently that would make it much better:

1. Interview democrat politicians and horribly edit them out of context.

2. Swap the Hitler scenario with a Stalin one, that way more people are convinced 3. Address the sex scandals by saying "But democrats had Bill Clinton" 4. Actually make arguments as to why the Dems are still racist 5. Not put music over all my scenes 6. Talk to Trump to make people like him more.

How hard is that?

But if he did that, then I wouldn't have something to convince conservatives not to be conservative. So thanks Dinesh!

An important film for all US citizens to see
I first became aware of Dinesh D'Souza 20 years ago when I read his book, "The End of Racism." As an immigrant to the US, he had nothing to gain or lose by writing his book on the unique problem (causes and perpetuation) of the black / white issue(s) in the US. Since the book was 766 pages (with the most impressive bibliography I've ever seen in a work I read for leisure), I could not get anyone to read it. I left it with my parents for a dozen years and they never touched it.

D'Souza was not a household name until he angered the wrong person ...

As a teacher, I know first-hand that public school is left-wing indoctrination. I see it in the books I'm made to teach from and I hear it in the "history" class I sit-in on daily (I have a colleague who is also an immigrant and a good teacher [he's just saturated in the left-wing message. At 24 years my junior, there are things I've lived-through that he only knows by the "official" left-wing rewrite]). It also doesn't take long to notice that teachers who are on-message with vituperative anti-male, anti-white, anti-American points of view have a freedom of speech. Those of us who are off-message have no voice at all (unless you enjoy spending quality time at the unemployment office).

In "Death of a Nation" the names, locations, and events are familiar to all US citizens who had the benefit of reaching adulthood without a cell-phone planted firmly in the middle of their face (keeping left-wing propaganda flowing 24/7). The difference between this film and what we were taught in school: the motivations and political parties are illuminated to reveal who upholds the US constitution and who undermines it.

This is one of the most accurate portrayals of Lincoln and extensive analysis comparing the presidencies. It's not perfect but it's mainly right on the money. Beware of negative reviews on this. The haters hate it.

If I was a USA democrat I would try to cover up my history too
brummieman14 November 2018
As it stands I am not from the USA but can clearly see why Democrats there are being paid to protest the uncovering of their history, yet the history books are open and you can check the FACTS of this documentary by turning off CNN and the Hollywood comedians and opening the history books. This documentary is eye-opening and informative, rather than shout and scream out how bad it is, research it, refute it if you can or at least intellectually debate it in the public arena. Spitting the dummy and stamping your feet changes no ones mind

A Must See For Those Who Have Never Observed or Learned History
abarksdale-127 October 2018
Most of the people who hate this movie are those who refuse to learn the truth about how our nation has morphed over the years. Bear in mind that sometimes the facts are ignored by those who refuse to recognize what is really happening in society. Only when we look back at our history can we compare what is transpiring in our nation. When our Supreme Court ruled to remove God, Prayer, and patriotism out of our educational system was when the real damage long term occurred. However, it began long before that but in a more subtle way within the realms of our government with the progressive movement and lean toward controlling people through propaganda and laws designed to keep people oppressed and suppressed. Classic Marxism contaminated our educational system and is now rearing it's head throughout our nation. Many of the comments I have read are seen through blinders and without objectivity. Being a conservative, I agree with most of the core of the film. Not because I despise the other point of view, but because I struggle every day wondering where the country I grew up in in the 50s and 60s has gone. We no longer care about our neighbors or strive to think for ourselves and are complacent in believing that everything is ok - that we shouldn't worry. That's what our leaders back in the Hitler era thought. We almost waited too long to get involved. I believe that there is a Tsunami coming in the form of a violent revolution and I fear it will have a horrible effect on us for a long time if not forever. I can only hope this next generation wakes up and goes back to fundamentals so that we can continue to be the home of the free and the land of the brave. God Bless America and God Bless the USA.

CRAZY LYING LIBERALS WHO HAVENT EVEN SEEN THE MOVIE ARE MAKING UP REVIEWS!
vincecartelli1 September 2018
It's so ridiculously OBVIOUS how liberals insult the intelligence of conservatives with these bogus reviews! So all of these Trump-bashing Dems, whom are also programmed to hate Dinesh decided to plunk down $15 and 2 hours of their lives on something they already knew they wouldn't like in a bazillion years??? YEAH RIGHT!!! Lyin' Libs are probably getting paid by George Soros to post these reviews - you idiots are not smarter than us, we can see right through your bovine excrement. This piece was a TOUR DE FORCE of truth. You can't ignore the facts, Liberals...so give it up! I enjoyed this very much - maybe it's because I'm intelligent. By the way - LOCK HER UP!!

Fabulous film which tells the truth
DonB-516 November 2018
Just like Trump, D'Souza does not pull his punches. I've been saying the left is fascist for years, correcting those who claim the left is aligned with socialism.

The left attempts to control all aspects of our lives and uses scorched earth tactics to attack anyone who contradicts them. They have perverted the mainstream media into a propoganda arm of the DNC. They allow groups like BLM and ANTIFA to use violence to push their agenda. This is fascism pure and simple, and the parallels to 1930s Germany are frightening.

It's amusing to read all the one-star reviews. This documents how brain washed leftists have become over the last 40 years.

Must see movie. The truth is out there for any with eyes to see.
