If you haven't seen the documentary A Band Called Death, here's the abridged version of the story: Death, a proto-punk power band from Detroit, made records in the 1970s, but broke up and moved on to other projects. Then, in 2009, Drag City released their unearthed 1976 LP ...For the Whole World to See. Two other archival albums followed: Spiritual, Mental, Physical and Death III. The band also started touring again.

Death have now announced their first studio album since their resurgence. It's called N.E.W., and it's out April 21 via the band's imprint TryAngle Records (distributed by Drag City). That's the album track "Look at Your Life", above.

The current incarnation of Death—the trio of Bobby Hackney, Dannis Hackney, and Bobbie Duncan—completed songs written by Bobby and the late David Hackney in the late 1970s. It also features a few brand new songs.

On February 13, Death will play a show at Flynn MainStage in Burlington, Vermont.
