This Is How You Know Everyone From the 'Dead to Me' Cast

Christina Applegate stars as the recently widowed real estate agent Jen Harding, who befriends Judy Hale in a grief support group. She's kind of an acting legend, but her abbreviated filmography includes: Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Bad Moms, Samantha Who?, Jesse, Up All Night, and Married ... With Children.

Co-star Linda Cardellini nails the part of Judy, the warm-hearted, slightly kooky free spirit with some serious dark secrets. She's most famous for Freaks and Geeks, ER, Mad Men, and Bloodline on TV, plus the movies Scooby-Doo, Daddy's Home, Brokeback Mountain, Avengers: Endgame, Green Book, and Legally Blonde.

Thank goodness James Marsden is so ridiculously good looking because his character Steve (Judy's insanely rich ex-fiancé) is kinda the worst. If you need more James Marsden in your life, look no further than Hairspray, Enchanted, 27 Dresses, The Notebook, X-Men movies, and Westworld. He also recently teamed up with Christina Applegate for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

Sam plays Jen's rebellious teenager son, but McCarthy has also appeared on NBC's crime thriller The Blacklist and the TV Land series The Jim Gaffigan Show.

How ridiculously cute is Jen's younger son, Henry? He's the youngest character in the cast but Roessler has already appeared in the Marvel TV series Legion as a young David Haller, not to mention small parts in Riverdale, Deadpool 2, and Bates Motel.

Brandon's biggest credits before Dead to Me included a recurring role as Dr. Ryan Spalding on Grey's Anatomy, plus a part on the miniseries Guerilla, but we can expect to see more of him soon. The cute former detective will probably play a big role in Season 2.

Jen's real estate partner moonlights as a children's church choir director (that choreography though!), but in real life Jenkins has also lent his talents to The Mysteries of Laura with Debra Messing and the web series High Maintenance.

Mahaffey is Jen's ice-cold mother-in-law, but you know her from Desperate Housewives, Devious Maids, United States of Tara, and The Doctors. Her role as a hypochondriac on Northern Exposure also won her an Emmy in 1992.

She's the overworked detective investigating Ted's death, and Riva is no stranger to crime shows — she's appeared in The Good Guys, NYPD Blue, and The X Files, plus recurring roles on Sabrina The Teenage Witch, The West Wing, Man with a Plan, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

Keong Sim plays the leader of grief support group and acts as impeccably calm sounding board to some of Jen's angry rants. He guest-starred on The Good Doctor last year, and also played Michael Chang's dad on Glee plus Dr. Sung Park on Monday Mornings.

Abe — the friendly retiree who gives great life advice —definitely deserved a bigger role in Season 1 because he knocked his scenes out of the park. The acting vet famously played Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off Lou Grant. He was also Santa Claus in Elf and voiced Carl in the Pixar movie Up.

Remember Judy's well-meaning neighbor who puts raisins in her take on Mexican lasagna? Suzy Nakamura also played Allison on Dr. Ken and she's guest-starred on tons of your favorite shows, like Modern Family, Black-ish, The Goldbergs, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and The West Wing.

On Dead to Me, she's the opinionated member of Jen and Judy's grief support group, but Hopkins actually got her start in music as part of the '70s pop group Tony Orlando and Dawn. She made the move into television with recurring roles on Family Matters, Bosom Buddies, Getting By, Half & Half, and Are We There Yet?

The hunk Jen meets at her grief retreat has the "handsome love interest" role down pat (no surprise there). He wooed Kate Hudson in both Bride Wars and Something Borrowed, plus had a quick stint opposite Zooey Deschanel on New Girl. Howey's also currently starring as Kev Ball on Shameless.

Major spoiler alert: She plays a waitress/musician who had an affair with Ted, Judy's husband. Macklin previously appeared on HBO's The Young Pope as Madre and starred as Nichole on Fox's short-lived LA to Vegas.
