Five-star prospects are rare in each recruiting class and, as we know, some pan out and some don’t. Over the next two weeks, we will delve into the five-stars still playing in college football and grade how they’ve been doing. Today we continue with the running backs.

Class of 2017

NAJEE HARRIS, Alabama

Harris has been patient and it’s paying off as he’s been living up to that No. 1 overall ranking and five-star rating for the last two years.

Grade: A

*****

KHALAN LABORN, transfer portal

This is puzzling as Laborn showed a few glimpses of his amazing talent in practice, a spring game and limited action but he never broke through at all. Who knows where he lands.

Grade: D

Class of 2018

ZAMIR WHITE, Georgia

White is starting to show signs of living up to this ranking after injury slowed him down a bit. He’s not lighting up the world, but he’s been solid.

Grade: C+

*****

LORENZO LINGARD, Florida (transfer from Miami)

Lingard has done nothing to show us he should have been a five-star. He still has time at his new home but it’s iffy at best.

Grade: D

*****

JAMES COOK, Georgia

Cook has had moments in the running and passing game but he’s been far from a five-star talent.

Grade: C-

*****

Class of 2019

TREY SANDERS, Alabama

After missing his first season with a knee injury, Sanders looked good but not great this season before a bad car accident sidelined him. He has plenty of time but has had more bad luck than good.

Grade: D

*****

Class of 2020

ZACH EVANS, TCU

It’s too early to truly judge Evans as he has played here and there as a freshman and has a rushing TD and some catches. He’s looked good when given a chance.

Grade: B-

*****

BIJAN ROBINSON, Texas

Robinson has been very solid in limited action as a runner and pass receiver and has done enough to get a solid grade.

Grade: B+

*****

DEMARKCUS BOWMAN, Florida (transfer from Clemson)

Bowman had nine carries at Clemson before leaving for Florida, so he essentially hasn’t started his career.

Grade: INCOMPLETE

*****

KENDALL MILTON, Georgia

Milton was injured with an MCL sprain just when he started to get rolling but I’ve seen enough to feel good about this.

Grade: B

*****

MARSHAWN LLOYD, South Carolina

Lloyd suffered an unfortunate season-ending injury before he had a chance to play, so he’s a wait-and-see guy.

Grade: INCOMPLETE
