Australia

The following information is valid for the admission year 2024 only.

As we cannot directly convert your GPA to the Danish system, the selection process is based on an overall assessment of your grades in the specific entry requirements (see below), the motivational essay and Quota 2 activities. Read more about the overall assessment in Quota 2 - here.

APPLICATION FEE

In order to have your application assessed you must pay an application fee

If you are not an EU/EEA or Swiss citizen and you do not hold a residence permit exempting you from paying, you must pay the Application Fee by 15 March.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENT

You need to document that you fulfil the general entry requirement you need:

An Australian Senior Certificate of Education plus ranking index.

Documentation required: Australian Senior Certificate of Education (relevant upper secondary certificate(s) from your specific territory) plus ranking index. You also need to fill in the Verification Form at the top of the page.

Check if your qualifications is sufficient to fulfil the general entry requirement in the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science database.
You need to upload a scan of the original documents required. If you are in the process of completing the general entry requirement, you must upload any documentation that you are able to so far plus confirmation of the courses you are currently taking.

SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You need to document that you fulfil the specific entry requirements

To fulfil English B: If you have an Australian Senior Certificate of Education, you automatically fulfil the English B & A requirement, provided that the full Australian Senior Certificate of Education has been completed in Australia. If part or all of the above has been done in a non-English-speaking country, the English A requirement is not automatically fulfilled and you will need to contact Bachelor Admission.

IMPORTANT: The English course(s) MUST be part of your upper secondary education and must be passed with a final exam, with grades that are higher than the minimum passing grade.

To fulfil Mathematics level B: you need to upload documentation (Verification Form at the top of the page) that you have had a minimum of 250 hours of Mathematics, have passed a final exam.

You also need to document that you have covered the following topics: Statistics and probability theory; Functions and equations; Circular functions and trigonometry; Matrices; Vectors; Calculus; Algebra; Use of IT-tools and mathematical programmes when solving mathematical problems

To fulfil Social Studies/History level B: you need to upload documentation (Verification Form at the top of the page) that you have had a minimum of 200 hours of Social Studies / History as part of your upper secondary education and have passed a final exam.

If you are applying for BSc in Business, Language and Culture, you need to pass the required language test. Please see the relevant language here for further information.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT

You must document that you fulfil the language requirement

If you have an Australian Senior Certificate of Education, you automatically fulfil the English B & A requirement, provided that the full Australian Senior Certificate of Education has been completed in Australia. If part or all of the above has been done in a non-English-speaking country, the English A requirement is not automatically fulfilled and you will need to contact Bachelor Admission.

IMPORTANT: The English course(s) MUST be part of your upper secondary education and must be passed with a final exam, with grades that are higher than the minimum passing grade.

MOTIVATIONAL ESSAY

You need to upload a motivational essay for each programme.

As we cannot directly convert your GPA to the Danish system, the selection process is based on an overall look at your grades, the motivational essay and any extra-curricular activities. Read more about the overall assessment in Quota 2 here.

TUITION FEES

You need to pay Tuition Fees.

If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen and you will need a residence permit to study in Denmark and you will need to pay Tuition Fees each semester (we will start this process, if you are accepted to CBS).
If you need a residence permit to study in Denmark, make sure that you have checked all the relevant deadlines.
Note that CBS does not offer any scholarships for undergraduate students.

TRANSLATION OF DOCUMENTS

Diploma and other documentation: If you have documents that are not in English, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, French or German, then you must upload a translation as well as a scan of the originals. It is okay for you to translate it yourself.
Documents that are not in one of the above languages will not be assessed as part of your application.

YOU CAN APPLY FOR AN APPRAISAL

You can apply for an appraisal between 01 October and 01 November. This is where we assess in advance whether or not you fulfil all the entry requirements. Read more under 'Appraisal (pre-assessment)'.

New Zealand

You need to upload a copy of the original documents required. If you are in the process of completing the general entry requirement, you must upload the final diploma and other required documents before the deadline.

SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You need to document that you fulfil the specific entry requirements.

To fulfil English level B: you need to upload documentation (Verification Form at the top of the page) that you fulfil minimum 210 hours of English and that you have covered the following topics: Understanding, as well as conversing and writing fluently and accurately in English in terms of grammar, spelling and punctuation; have vocabulary that enables you to engage in conversations and discussions pertaining to general, but also specific subjects e.g., cultural, or societal topics in the UK, USA, and other English-speaking countries.

IMPORTANT: The English course(s) MUST be part of your upper secondary education and must be passed with a final exam, with grades that are higher than the minimum passing grade.

To qualify for an English taught bachelor programme, you also need to meet the language requirement (see below). This means that you need to fulfil English level A.

To fulfil Mathematics level B: you need to upload documentation (Verification Form at the top of the page) that you have had a minimum of 250 hours of Mathematics, have passed a final exam and have covered the following topics: Statistics and probability theory; Functions and equations; Circular functions and trigonometry; Matrices; Vectors; Calculus; Algebra; Use of IT-tools and mathematical programmes when solving mathematical problems.

Calculating the GPA:
A simple GPA of all the single Austrian grades on the exam certificate is calculated.

This Austrian GPA is then converted to the Danish grading scale using the conversion table here (-> Østrig; -> Karakterer. Available in Danish only).

Other exam certificates
Reife- und Diplomprüfung OR Berufsreifeprüfung

If you have the above (or any other exam than Reifeprüfung / Matura Reifeprüfung), you will be assessed in Quota 2: exams without a convertible GPA. You must always fulfil the specific entry requirements. You need to include your Reife- und Diplomprüfungzeugnis or Berufsreifeprüfungzeugnis, Jahreszeugnis for the final Jahrganges and documentation of the total number of teaching hours and curriculum in these specific subjects (the verification form at the top of this page).

Selection of qualified applicants in this group is based on an overall assessment where we look at your grades in general and with regards to the specific entry requirements, we look at your extra-curricular activities and we look at your motivational essay. We do not calculate a GPA and you will not be assessed in Quota 1.

Belarus

Calculating the GPA:

The mean of these two, converted, GPAs is then calculated to give the final GPA.

Requirements in the International Baccalaureate:
The International Baccaluareate must fulfil all of the following criteria in order to fulfil the general entry requirement:

Total points must be a minimum of 24 (including bonus and minus penalty points)
Minimum of 6 subjects passed
Minimum of 3, and no more than 4, subjects passed at Higher level (HL)
All the other courses must be passed at Subsidiary level (SL)
Extended Essay must have been submitted
The course Theory of Knowledge (TOK) must have been completed
All CAS Activities (Creativity, Action and Service) must have been completed

Requirements for applicants with a Diploma Programme (DP) Course Results
You must fulfil all of the following criteria in order to fulfil the general entry requirement:

Total points must be a minimum of 18 (including bonus and minus penalty points)
The minimum grade 3 in all 6 subject
Supplement to your DP Course Result:
- Minimum 2 HF single courses or GSK courses.
- Minimum 250 hours of teaching and 100 hours of preparation of written coursework.
- Minimum 1 A level course and minimum 1 B level course.
- Courses at C level cannot be used as part of the supplementary courses.
- 60 ECTS passed from a higher education (exceptions may occur)

Calculating the GPA:
The French GPA given in Total pour mention is converted to the Danish grading scale (see below).

If this is not given, the GPA is calculated by dividing the total point sum with the total weighting, Coeff. If there is registration in the 2nd round, Epreuves de 2e groupe, the GPA is taken from the Total 1er groupe + 2e groupe. The GPA is then converted to the Danish grading scale (see below).

US high school diploma (taken outside the USA)

APPLICATION FEE

In order to have your application assessed you need to pay an application fee.

If you are not an EU/EEA or Swiss citizen and you do not hold a residence permit exempting you from paying, you must pay the Application Fee by 15 March.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENT

You need to document that you fulfil the general entry requirement

To fulfill the general entry requirement you need:

Interntional US High School Diploma and 3 AP tests (each passed with a minimum score of 3 and the 3 tests must be from different subject areas) to fulfil the general entry requirement. The 3 AP tests can be substituted with 1 year of full-time undergraduate college studies (equating to minimum 60 ECTS-points).

Check if your qualifications are sufficient to fulfil the general entry requirement in the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science database.

Documentation required:

International US High School Diploma, official High School Grade Transcript and your AP College Board Student Score Report (and/or the official grade transcript of your college studies).

Please note that neither GED, SAT nor honors fulfils any part of the general entry requirement and therefore will not be part of an application assessment.

SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You need to document that you fulfil the specific entry requirements.

To fulfil English level B: you need to have an international US High School Diploma. It does not make a difference if the high school diploma was completed in the USA, abroad or in several countries.

To fulfil Mathematics level B: you need to have passed an AP Calculus test with a minimum score of 3 (AP Calculus includes differential calculus). Pre-Calculus does not fulfil the requirement (as it does not include differential calculus). In addition to the AP Calculus documentation (AP College Board Student Score Report), you need to upload documentation (fill in 'US Mathematics verification form' below) that you have had a minimum of 250 hours of mathematics, passed a final exam and your curriculum has covered the following topics: Statistics and probability theory; Functions and equations; Circular functions and trigonometry; Matrices; Vectors; Calculus; Algebra; Use of IT-tools and mathematical programmes when solving mathematical problems.

US Mathematics Verification Form

If you are applying for BSc in Business, Language and Culture, you need to pass the required language test. Please see the relevant language here for further information.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT

You must document that you fulfil the language requirement.

An international US high school does not automatically fulfil English level A. You need to upload documentation that you fulfil English level A. Read more about fulfilling the English language requirement here.

Application fee, Tuition fee and Resident Permit

Non-EU/EEA citizens - Application fee
Who needs to pay an application fee?
If you are not a citizen of an EU/EEA country and you have not obtained/ will not obtain a upper secondary leaving exam issued by a Danish educational institution, you are required to pay an application fee in order to have your application(s) assessed.
In other words: if you apply for a CBS bachelor programme and have obtained/will obtain a Danish upper secondary school leaving exam (stx, hhx, htx, hf, gif, eux), or an upper secondary school leaving exam done at Duborgskolen, AP Møller skolen, Greenland or the Faroe Islands, you are not to pay an application fee, regardless of your citizenship.

The application fee is 100 EURO (or 750 DKK) per applicant per admission round.

If you have one of the following residence permits, you have the same rights as a Danish citizen and are therefore not to pay the application fee:

Permanent residence permit in Denmark (“permanent opholdstilladelse”)
Residence permit in Denmark with a view to for permanent residence in Denmark (“opholdstilladelse med mulighed for varigt ophold”)

CBS Admissions will make a decision based on your actual residence permit.

Other Nordic countries
Permanent residence in another Nordic country (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands) may also grant you an exemption.

Non-Nordic EU/EEA residence permits
If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen with permanent residence in another EU/EEA country, you are not exempt from paying the application fee or the tuition fees.

Refugees
If you have a refugee residence permit, you may be exempt from paying the application and tuition fees. Please contact the Admissions Office for further details.

Who does not need to pay the application fee?
EU citizens and citizens of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland do not have to pay the application fee.

If you have one of the above residence permits that exempt you, it is very important that you upload documentation for it when you apply on optagelse.dk.
If you are in the process of applying for one of the above residence permits, but you have not yet obtained one, you must pay the application fee.
The application fee is 100 EURO (or 750 DKK) per applicant per application round. You only have to pay the application fee once, even if you submit more than one application during an admission round.

Payment
The application fee is 100 Euros (or 750 Danish Kroner) per applicant, per application year. Your application will not be assessed until the Admissions Office has established that the application fee has been paid.

Payment must be made on the link below (CBS Admission NemTilmeld). Please remember that you have to upload a copy of your receipt on www.optagelse.dk alongside your application.

The deadline for paying the application fee is 15 March at 12.00 noon, CET.

Bachelor Admission Application Fee

Reimbursement?
The application fee is reimbursed if you are accepted to and start at one of the programmes applied for (i.e. you are offered a study spot and are registered as an active student by 1 October).

The application fee can only be reimbursed on condition that the credit/debit card you used to pay the fee is still valid, and that you open a Danish bank account after moving to Denmark. The application fee will not be reimbursed under any other circumstances. The reimbursement of the application fee takes place between 1 October and 31 December. NB: a service fee might be retained by the bank(s) processing the reimbursement.

If you withdraw your application after 15 March at 12.00 noon, CET, you cannot expect a reimbursement.

Non-EU/EEA citizens - Tuition fees

Please note: We do not offer any scholarships for undergraduate degree programmes. Scholarships are ONLY available at the graduate level.

The tuition fee for students enrolling in any full-time bachelor programme at CBS is EURO 6,400 per semester (EURO 12,800 per year) or DKK 48,000 per semester (DKK 96,000 per year).

Who needs to pay tuition fees?
All non-EU/-EEA/-Swiss citizens must pay tuition fees. Citizens of EU countries as well as Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein are not to pay tuition fees. All other nationalities are required to pay tuition fees when studying in Denmark (see below for information on a possible exemption based on prior residence in Denmark).

The following non-EU/-EEA/-Swiss citizens are exempt from paying the application fee if you have:

Permanent residence permit in Denmark (“permanent opholdstilladelse”)
Residence permit in Denmark with a view to for permanent residence in Denmark (“opholdstilladelse med mulighed for varigt ophold”)
"EU-opholdsbekendtgørelsen" - residence permit in Denmark according to the EU/EEA regulations.
“Opholdstilladelse som medfølgende barn” – residence in Denmark as an accompanying child (the documentation must state that you are "medfølgende barn" - the text "medfølgende familie" is not sufficient. Please be aware that holders of this residence permit are still required to pay the application fee

Other Nordic countries
You may also be exempt from paying tuition fees if you have permanent residence in another Nordic country (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands) and you will continue to live in the relevant country during your studies; please note that CBS Admissions will make a decision based on your actual residence permit.

Non-Nordic EU/EEA residence permits
If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen with permanent residence in another EU/EEA country, you are not exempt from paying the application fee or the tuition fees.

Refugees
If you have a refugee residence permit, you may be exempt from paying the application and tuition fees. Please contact the Admissions Office for further details.

Current student residence permit
Having a student residence permit (whether at another institution, or at CBS under a different programme) does not under any circumstances exempt you from paying the tuition fee. Contact CBS Admissions if you are unsure whether your residence permit exempts you or not.

If you have one of the above residence permits that exempt you from paying the tuition fee:
It is very important that you upload documentation to prove it. The CBS Admissions Office will, on the basis of the documentation provided in your application, assess whether or not you may be exempt from paying tuition fees. Make sure to upload the following documents:

Certified copy of your residence permit letter from the Immigration Services AND
Certified copy of your residence permit card PLUS (if applicable)
Certified copy of the page in your passport giving you residence permit

Based on the documentation you upload, CBS Admissions will grant (or deny) you an exemption. Please note that you may still be required to pay the application fee. If you are currently in the process of applying for one of the above residence permits, you should document this, as we may then prolong the deadline for receiving the permit or paying tuition fees.

How much and where should this be paid?

The tuition fee for students enrolling in any full-time bachelor programme at CBS is EURO 5,600 per semester (EURO 11,200 per year) or DKK 42,000 per semester (DKK 84,000 per year).
The tuition fee must be paid per semester.
The payment cannot be split up in several installments.
You will receive an invoice with details about how to pay the tuition fee via email.

If you are offered a place at CBS, you must pay the tuition fee for the first semester by the deadline given in your letter of acceptance.

Please note that we will initiate the residence permit application process only after the tuition fee is cleared in our account.

CBS Admissions will send you invoices for the subsequent semesters before the beginning of each semester (i.e. before 1 February and 1 September).

Can I get the money back?
It is only possible to have the tuition fee reimbursed in the following cases:

if you are conditionally accepted at the programme and do not, against expectations, fulfil the requirements stated.
if you have paid for the coming semester, but withdraw from the programme before the semester starts, the tuition fee for the coming semester will be reimbursed. The tuition fee cannot be reimbursed if you withdraw from the programme after semester start (i.e. 1 September and 1 February).
if you, after having paid the tuition fee, obtain a residence permit exempting you from paying the tuition fee. In this case, the validity date of the permit, and not the date when the permit was issued, is of importance. e.g.: if the residence permit is valid beginning 31 August or earlier, then the tuition fee for the autumn semester will be refunded; if the residence permit is valid beginning with a date between 1 September and 31 January, then the tuition fee for the autumn semester cannot be reimbursed.

The tuition fee is automatically reimbursed to the account from which it was paid. If you close the account after applying/moving to Denmark, or if you have not paid the fee from a bank account, the automatic reimbursement cannot take place. NB: a service fee might be retained by the bank(s) processing the reimbursement.

Student Loan and External Scholarship Agreements from outside the EU
It is important to be aware of the following if you are planning to fund your studies using a loan or a scholarship from your home country.

Loans, External Scholarships and the ST1 (student residence permit): Look carefully into the timing of the loan or scholarship being offered. If you are using part of the loan or scholarship to pay tuition fees, make sure that you will receive the money and can pay the fees before the tuition fee deadline (the first deadline is usually a month after you have received your acceptance letter). We are not able to start the student residence permit application with the immigration authorities until we have received the tuition fees for your first semester at CBS.

Loan Agreements between external organisations and CBS: CBS is a big institution with a few different bodies offering study programmes that are independent of one another within CBS. If the loan company you are considering states that they have an agreement with CBS, it is important to look into where this agreement is. For example, the Sallie Mae loans from the US have an agreement with the MBA programmes at CBS. The MBA programmes are administered separately and in a different way from the full-degree bachelor and graduate programmes at CBS. We are therefore not able to accept certain loans (such as Sallie Mae) for the bachelor and graduate programmes at CBS.

US Federal Loans: We are able to accept US Federal Loans at the bachelor and graduate programmes at CBS. These loans are administered in an office separate to the admissions offices. They are only paid out twice a year after semester start (i.e. not before 1st September or 1st February). If you use the US Federal Loan to fund your studies, you may need to find an alternative way to pay your initial tuition fees, so that you can pay by the deadline and we can start the student residence permit process.

Student residence permit

When you have paid the tuition fees, the Admissions Office will start the student residence permit application process.

This means that we fill in our part of the application form, confirming that you will be a student at CBS, and send you login details to complete the application. You are then to fill in your part of the application form according to the instructions given and hand it in at the nearest Danish representation.

The application is processed by the Danish Agency for Labour Retention and International Recruitment. The agency will require you to pay a fee as part of handing in the application form; in some cases the Danish representation will also require you to pay a local fee. When the necessary fees have been paid and all documentation is available, the agency will process your application for a student residence permit, which will normally take up to six weeks. CBS receives a copy of the student residence permit letter direct from the agency.

The student residence permit is normally given with a validity date from 1 August; the permit is normally, if certain conditions are fulfilled, given for the prescribed duration of your studies plus six months.

It is a condition for the residence permit that you are active and enrolled in the study programme for which the permit is given. If this is not the case, the agency can revoke your residence permit. CBS Admissions Office is obliged to inform the agency if you are not actively following the study programme.

EU/EEA citizens
If you are a citizen of a European Union country or Norway or Iceland or Switzerland or Liechtenstein, you are not to pay an application fee and/or tuition fees for your studies, regardless of your educational background.
If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen with permanent residence in another EU/EEA country, you are not exempt from paying the application fee or the tuition fees; however, special rules apply to you if you live in another Nordic country; read more under "Non-EU/EEA citizens - Tuition Fee".

Applicants with a refugee status
If you are an applicant currently in Denmark, or another Nordic country, with refugee status and you are interested in starting or continuing your further education at CBS, you can consider the following:

Consider taking a GIF as preparation for studies in Denmark
The GIF programme is a one year programme that is designed for refugees and immigrants interested in completing a Danish upper secondary exam. This exam can then be used to fulfil the general entry requirement plus potentially some of the specific entry requirements. Applicants to the GIF programme must have completed high school level in their home country plus have a certain level of Danish. Further information can be found here.
Apply for an appraisal
CBS offers an appraisal round for prospective applicants with a non-EU educational background. CBS assesses the documents sent in the appraisal application and confirms whether or not the qualifications fulfil the entry requirements for a particular programme. If you do not fulfil the entry requirements, CBS Admissions will indicate which specific entry requirements that are not fulfilled. If your appraisal indicates that you do not fulfil the specific entry requirements, you may sign up for supplementary courses. The appraisal round dates are mentioned under "Applying (pre-assessment). If you have missed this deadline but have an official refugee status in Denmark or another Nordic country, please send us an email to discuss your options. Please be aware that the application deadline for bachelor programmes in Denmark is always 15 March, 12:00 noon (CET) and if you miss this deadline, you will not be able to apply until the following year.

Documentation:

We cannot accept any applicants who do not fulfil the entry requirements. If you are not able to provide part of the official documentation of your qualifications due to circumstances, you should try to gather as much other information and documents as you are able to, to show your qualifications. We will consider application on a case by case basis and help you to find the best solution. Consider also researching single courses or language tests to document the specific entry requirements.

Appraisal (pre-assessment)

Applying for an appraisal (pre-assessment)
A bachelor appraisal is only for applicants whose educational background cannot be converted to the Danish educational system. This is most likely applicants from outside of the EU/EEA/Switzerland or who are applying as a dispensee. A bachelor appraisal will tell you whether or not you fulfil the general and specific entry requirements for one of the bachelor programmes at CBS.

Please note an appraisal is a service we provide at CBS and it is your own responsibility to make sure you have uploaded all the relevant information required.

As it is an extra service we provide, we do not follow up on if/what documentation is missing. We do not give any feedback on what documentation you have sent us until you get your appraisal from us. If we do not have the proper or sufficient information, this will be reflected in the appraisal.

Before you apply for an appraisal

To be eligible for an appraisal you have to have completed your entire upper secondary exams/high school education, including (where required) the additional 1 year of further education needed to fulfil the general entry requirement.

If you graduate from your upper secondary school exams/high school education in 2024, then you cannot apply for an appraisal in 2023.

If your upper secondary school exam/high school education needs to be accompanied by 1 year of further education (equating to a minimum 60 ECTS-points) to fulfil the general entry requirement, you must be able to document that you are in the process of fulfilling this at the appraisal application deadline.

When can I apply for an appraisal?
You can apply for a bachelor appraisal between 01 October and 01 November.

How do I apply for an appraisal?
You need to fill out the Appraisal Form and send it by email, along with scans of all necessary documentation, to: bacheloradmission@cbs.dk within the given timeframe.

When can I expect an answer?
You can expect an answer to your appraisal no later than in January before the application round opens on 1 February.

For how long is my appraisal from CBS valid?

Your appraisal from CBS is only valid for the next immediate application round. For example, if you have applied for an appraisal on 15 October 2023, the answer that you receive in January 2024 would only be valid for the 2024 application round.

What do I need to be aware of with regards to an appraisal?

You can only apply for an appraisal for one bachelor programme at CBS, so you need to specify the programme you want the appraisal for on the appraisal form.
You need to check which documents are required from your country to fulfil the entry requirements for your upper secondary education. You can find your country or education if you scroll up to the top of this page - if you cannot find your country or education look at Rest of the world (under Other International Education).
You can check to see if your upper secondary education certificates fulfill the general entry requirement on the Ministry of Higher Education and Science website here.
You need to send documentation for the specific entry requirements. Remember to include course descriptions and documentation concerning hours studied for each relevant subject per year during your upper secondary school / university years. Please note that we do not accept links, you must send the documents as PDF-files.
You need to translate your documents into English, if they are not already in English (please remember to scan and send documents in the original language as well as the translations though).
When you send the email, please write ‘Bachelor Appraisal’ as your subject line.
An appraisal is not an application to CBS. You will still need to apply from scratch via Optagelse.dk once the application round opens on 1 February.
When you do apply, please remember to upload your appraisal answer along with all your documentation to your application at Optagelse.dk.
