It was only a matter of time before the tale of how regular Aussie girl Mary Donaldson and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark fell in love made it to the silver screen.
But according to reports, Crown Princess Mary is furious over some of the less than regal details that are to be included in Channel Ten’s biopic, Mary: The Making of a Princess.
Rumours are circulating that the Australian-born royal is angry about racy details about her husband’s past dalliances with models and pop stars, before their meeting at a bar in Sydney, 2000.
According to New Idea, these rumours were fueled when requests for film crews to shoot scenes in Gavno Castle, where Prince Frederik hid Mary during the early stages of their relationship, were refused by the owners.
As the royal couple brace themselves for the upcoming history lesson, FEMAIL looks back at Crown Prince Frederik’s past loves and the women who were almost princesses...

Frederik's first girlfriend, Mie Egmont, was the Prince's classmate and high school sweetheart.
After ski holidays together, they soon broke up with each of them pursuing different lives.
Early in 1990 Prince Frederik met brunette beauty, Nina Klinker Jorgensen, at Aarhus University, where he was studying political science and she was studying law.

The young lovers were together for a short time, before breaking it off as Jorgensen pursued a career in film making.
Later that same year, Prince Frederik started dating model Malou Aamund, with the pair staying together until 1993.
Scandal surrounded the couple when they were pulled over on New Years Eve 1992, and Ms Aamund, who was at the wheel of Frederik's car, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and taken to the police station.
The Danish royal court offered an apology on behalf of Prince Frederik and the couple's romance came to an end as a result.
Following Ms Aamund, Prince Frederik started dating Danish model Katja Storkholm in his late twenties for two and a half years.
The glamorous lingerie model allegedly had the Prince head over heels in love, with sources previously suggesting he proposed to her, to which she said yes.

The pair's relationship eventually came to an end however, with claims that Prince Frederik's mother did not approve as the Danish royal family requires members to marry non-Danish partners.
Prince Frederick then dated glamorous Danish pop singer Maria Montell, who he was with for a year before meeting Princess Mary in 2000, during the Sydney Olympic Games.
Two local actors - Emma Hamilton and Ryan O'Kane, will soon be gracing television screens across Australia for the telemovie, thanks in part, to their striking resemblance to the royal couple.
Melbourne born Hamilton, 31, who stars alongside Henry Cavill and Bruce Willis in The Cold Light Of Day, has dyed her light locks a dark chestnut shade as she prepares to embody the real life Australian Princess.

Having previously played the role of Anne Stanhope, Countess of Hertford, in British drama The Tudors, Emma will also be going into the production with some experience of royal drama.
Hamilton's male counterpart, New Zealand born O'Kane, also resembles his character and is taking Danish lessons to prepare for the leading role.
There is no denying the Out Of The Blue and City Homicide star's suitability for the role of Frederik, with his mop of chocolate hair, broad forehead and charming smile strikingly similar to the Prince's.
Emma and Ryan will retrace the royals' love affair from the moment they first crossed paths at the Slip Inn pub during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, to when they said 'I do' in the aisles of Copenhagen Cathedral just four years later.
