Great little resort. Quaint. Our room was wonderful - small, but had everything we needed, and was perfectly clean. Others have noted that there is no in-room control of temperature. We fond that to be a little disappointing, since it was warm at night. The breakfast was fine. Don't listen to the complainers. Yes, it's just coffee, donuts, and fruit. In five minutes you can be across the chain bridge and have all the gourmet food you'd like. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Recommended.

First time at this hotel. Check in was super easy and fast. We booked a suite for 6 near the pool, location was great, room temp was nice and cold The whole week, no issues. Each suit has it’s own patio table and chairs, Weber grills are along the patio as well. Our room had a full kitchen, every utensil we needed was there, the grocery store is a short 8 minute drive from the hotel. No official ‘housekeeping service’ due to COVID but the hotel does a great job collecting the bath towels from the buckets, same with the trash. It’s a family atmosphere so it’s not unusual to see a guest simply walking over to the housekeeping area to exchange some fresh towels or grab an extra trash bag. Everyone was very nice, the hotel gets nice and quiet after 10:00pm. The beach is a 15 minute walk along a hilly road, it was difficult to pull a wagon or carry too much. We decided to drive and park at Oval Beach, $10 for a day pass, well worth the cost. Chain Ferry was open every day except one due to winds. The ferry is a 2 minute walk from the hotel, perfect location. Our section of rooms didn’t have closets but we compromised and used the shelf in the bedroom, it worked perfect. Only suggestion for the hotel admin would be to install a few hooks in the the bathroom to hang towels to dry. We truly enjoyed our relaxing stay and will 100% be back.

We were there for two nights, not my first stay at this hotel. Location is great, away from the noise and people in town, yet can hop the ferry across the river to town in minutes. Pool and surroundings very pretty. Disappointments were no microwave or fan in rooms, breakfast was just apples and oranges. For over $200 a night they can afford more than that. Carpet needs replaced, but otherwise a nice stay, tables right outside our room, surprised though it is not handicap accessible. Many steps to go up, no ramp, difficult even to get our luggage in and out. They have plenty of room for a ramp.

This was a cozy getaway for our little family of 3 (we have a 3 year old toddler). We had a large family room (Room 4) with 1 big bed and then 2 small twin beds across the room. While we did not have separate rooms or spaces, the room was large enough so that we did not feel cramped, and the outdoor spaces are plentiful and pretty! We enjoyed the pool (even the sharks!) and the proximity to Oval Beach and town (a short drive or a quick ride on the Chain Ferry during the day). There was not much provided in the way of breakfast (just some fruit and coffee), but we enjoyed going into Saugatuck to check out the little coffee shops and cafes! On the weekend nights, we could hear the live music across the river when sitting out on the deck. We would definitely consider staying here again!

My husband and I stayed at the Beachway Resort in August 2020. I loved the hotel's location: across the Kalamazoo River from downtown Saugatuck and a straight shot down the road from Oval Beach. Similarly, Mount Baldhead Park is only a short walk down the street. If you like water and boats, the Beachway is an excellent place to stay. You can view the Kalamazoo and downtown Saugatuck from several decks, and you can walk down to the water to watch the passing boat traffic (lots of it!) or, if you have a bit more energy, you can walk to Oval Beach via the wooded path or the beach road (there's little shoulder, so watch for cars).

Our room was a "non-view" room, but it was fine. The view from the outdoor decks was so good that I spent most of my time there, anyway! I loved looking out to the river and downtown or across the beach road to the woods. I also enjoyed the pool. It was a gathering spot for guests and I felt a little bit part of a community during our stay. The first time I went swimming, the temperature was a little cold, but when I brought that to the attention of the owner, she adjusted it, and thereafter the water was great.

One of the pluses of staying at the Beachway is its proximity to the chain ferry that takes people across the river to downtown. Be sure to check Facebook for the day's schedule, as weather conditions can affect the hours the ferry operates. Another fun thing to do is down the road a couple of minutes' drive to the Douglas Root Beer Barrel, an outdoor eatery where you can buy, yes, root beer, but also a delicious sandwich or a hot fudge sundae.

This was our third visit to Saugatuck and our first time to stay at the Beachway. I really think it's one of the best places to stay in Saugatuck if you want a pool and close proximity to the beach. I highly recommend the Beachway and hope to stay there again someday.

The resort was nice and the staff awesome. Room was very muggy and warm. You can not control your own air conditioning that is done by the office. For what we paid we should have been comfortable in the room. Wish I knew the thermostat was off limits would not have booked here.

The Beachway Resort seems like a lot of fun in the summer. They have a patio table for each room. They are very close to the chain ferry. They are even gracious enough to leave the pool open after labor day. We stayed in the family suite room #4 and it was very spacious, clean and decorated so cute, however we soon found out you could not control the temperature in the room yourself. It was very warm in our room being up so high. I called two days in a row to ask to have the temp fixed. The third time I went to the desk in person to ask. We went out for a bit came back and the temp was the same. We were miserable our entire stay. We will never stay here again for that reason. If it is that warm in the room now how could you stand it in the Summer? What I found odd was as soon as you open the door to the hall which leads to the office the temp was fine.

I've always wanted to stay here because we see it over the river and it looks fun. That is a one and done for us.

The staff were terrific and helpful. It being a slow season, we were offered an upgraded room that wasn't rented. The beds, pillows and linens must be new. They were perfectly comfortable. We enjoyed the unexpected coffee, toast and fruit in the morning. It's a great location for hiking trails and Oval Beach. The small imperfect thing was the light smell of bleach in the room.

This hotel was the worst we have stayed in and we paid $288 for it. The room was misrepresented in the pictures. It did not show how small the room was or that the bathroom sink was located in the bedroom, an arms length from the bed.
Additionally , you cannot control the room temperature . There were no extra pillows or blankets available . The furniture was totally outdated and the two chairs were uncomfortable . I would not recommend this hotel to anyone . It is overpriced, outdated and uncomfortable . Find another place to stay.

Really enjoyed this hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast is not much but it was still nice they did something. Fruit, coffee and donuts. They have seating inside and outside or take it back to your room. We walked to oval beach on the wooded trail and once on the road. We walked to the eagles nest, what a view. The chain ferry is steps away, takes you to great restaurants, bars, shops. We will stay at this hotel again. The staff was so very nice and helpful.

Yes, there are Ubers in the area. There is also the Interurban Bus which runs until 11pm on weekends, two taxi companies that run until 3am, and water taxi that will be running until approximately 11pm.

Some of our larger houses and cottages do have washer and dryers in the rooms, however we do not have laundry facilities on-site for other rooms. About 1 mile away there is a laundry mat.
