A beloved East Village diner is now on the menu for buyers.
The landmark Odessa Restaurant — one of the neighborhood’s last 24-hour diners and a mainstay for the after-bars crowd — is for sale on Craigslist after closing last summer.
The Ukrainian eatery, which also served classic American greasy spoon grub on Avenue A and East Seventh Street, can be snapped up for $400,000, according to the ad, which notes the restaurant is in “turn-key condition.”
“Large Diner/Restaurant is a neighborhood staple for 44 years,” it reads. “Most of the business is walk-in with significant possibility for growth by creating a large take-out business. Great causal and quick dining options for a densely populated area.”
The 100-seat restaurant across from Tompkins Square Park closed in July amid the coronavirus crisis and had planned to reopen after renovations, co-owner Steve Helios said at the time.
But Odessa’s owners now plan to retire instead of reviving the restaurant, realtor Jason Pilku told Eater.
The diner was put up for sale two weeks ago — and potential buyers are already biting, Pilku said.
The diner opened as an off-shoot of the Odessa Bar next door, dishing out pierogies and Kielbasa to late-night club kids and other night owls for decades.
