ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell women's track and field team will have representation in two meets this weekend. A portion of the team will be competing at the National Open hosted by Penn State from Friday-Saturday in University Park, Pennsylvania, while the rest of the team will be back in Ithaca competing at the Kane Invitational at Barton Hall Saturday.

The National Open has a total of 32 teams competing including seven ranked teams: No. 22 Penn State, No. 68 West Virginia, No. 86 Penn, No. 97 Georgetown, No. 110 Monmouth, No. 120 Norfolk St. and No. 123 Maryland.

The meet is set to start at 11 a.m. Friday with the women's pentathlon, but the first event featuring a member of the Big Red is at 3 p.m. with the women's weight throw.

The Kane Invitational marks the fourth home meet of the season for the Big Red. The meet is set to start with the women's 5000m at 11 a.m.

Last weekend the team took first place at the Upstate Challenge. The Big Red compiled a total of 294 points, which was 171 more than second place Binghamton. Overall there were seven teams competing. Cornell had nine event wins and 30 top-3 event finishes to go along with nearly 50 scoring efforts.

Additionally, the Big Red had two additions to the record books. In the high jump, Marguerite Lorenzo and freshman Monique Anderson cleared 5-7, tying the school freshman record and also tying for No. 10 all-time at Cornell. Freshman Maria Siciliano was the top collegiate finisher in the vault, clearing 11-11.75, which is also No. 10 all-time at Cornell.

The Big Red resumes action next weekend when it will have representation at two meets. A portion of the team will be back in University Park, Pennsylvania, competing at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge, while others will compete at the Bomber Invitational in Ithaca.
