ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell men's track and field team is set to begin the 2023-24 track and field campaign this weekend at Barton Hall as the host of the Greg Page Relays and Multis.

The Season Outlook
Cornell will enter the 2023-24 indoor campaign with high hopes. The Cornellians welcome 18 first-years to the squad, and will be anchored by its 33 upperclassmen. "We have such a deep and strong team, and with their drive to want to be the best and to win, I believe that we'll have a record-breaking season even more exciting than last year", Adrian Durant, the George Heekin '29 Head Coach of Men's Track and Field mentioned.

Cornell returns a plethora of scorers to the lineup this season. The Cornellians return standouts Tomas Kersulis, Domenic Barresi, Damian Hackett, Rhys Hammond, Brad Morell, and Shane Racey, who have proven to be high level producers.

Kersulis has been a force to be reckon with in multiple events for the Big Red. The Lithuanian speedster is a Heptagonal champion of the 500m and 200m (indoor), 400m (outdoor), 4x400m, in addition to holding Cornell and Ivy League records in the 4x400 and 400-meter dash. He also claimed All-American honors in the 400-meter dash in last years edition of the indoor track and field national finals.

Barresi turned heads last year, climbing to the top of the Cornell record book in the 100-meter dash, and taking part in the 4x400 relay group who earned the Heptagonal Championship crown.

Hammond and Hackett have showed national promise as far as distance events are concerned. Both pacers are coming off of All-Ivy nods from there performances in the cross country Heptagonal Championships. Their achievements don't stop there, Hackett is an Ivy League Outdoor Champion in the 1500 (second all-time runner at Cornell) and the 4x800m relay,  indoor runner up in the 1000-meter run  and the 4x800m. Hammond is number two all-time in the indoor mile at Cornell, an Ivy Champion in the 4x800, and an Ivy runner up in the indoor mile as well as the 4x800m.

The field events are led by all-timers Morell and Racey. In the Cornell record book, Morell sits third in the shot put (indoor), third in the weight throw (indoor), second in the discus, and fourth in the hammer throw. Racey stands first in the pole-vault (outdoor), second in the pole vault (indoor), and claimed silver at Heps (indoor) in the pole vault.

Beyond that high-octane group, Cornell has athletes who look to make a jump from last year, along with newcomers who will aid in the Big Red's success this upcoming season. "We also have a group of very talented first years who are looking to have an immediate impact", Durant added.

Big Red Captains
Kersulis, Morell, Racey, Hammond, Patrick Brewer, and Pelham Bergesen have been named captains of the 2023-24 Big Red men's track and field squad.
