CONCH REPUBLIC SEAFOOD COMPANY, Key West - Menu, Prices & Restaurant Reviews - Tripadvisor
About
Throughout Key West's colorful history the Historic Key West Bight, where the Conch Republic Seafood Company® now resides, has had a tradition of bringing the bounty of the seas ashore. Sponges, giant sea turtles, shrimp and fish are just a few of the types of cargo that would pass through the Bight weekly. The location where the Conch Republic Seafood Company® is now located has it's own interesting history. In the 1890's "sponging" had grown to employ hundreds in Key West, both with the fleet and at jobs ashore. Our present day docks have long ago replaced the large, wide sponge market docks of the era. This dock was just one of many constructed to allow the quality of the sponges to be inspected

We parked in the parking lot right in front on the restaurant. $2 per hour. Overlooked the marina and open air sitting. Lots of birds on the floor. Sitter quickly and drink orders taken. I had a peach colada that was very good. My spouse...had Bahama Mama and liked them I ordered 1/2 lb of shrimp which was 8 large. Great taste. My spouse had the fried shrimp and liked them. I tried the Conch as an appetizer. Not my favoriteMore

This restaurant came highly recommended but really is just average for Key West. Prices are on the higher side for casual dining and the food isn’t anything spectacular. Our server was new to the restaurant but she worked hard. She recommended the Cracked Conch over...the Conch Fritters and she was absolutely right. The Conch Fritters are a total waste of money because they’re all dough and almost zero conch. Lesson learned. The Cracked Conch is nice, meaty, fried pieces of conch and worth the money. The marmalade that comes with it quite good as well. I ordered the Island Salad and it was just a salad but the citrus dressing was good. Also, the iced tea is brewed fresh. It was good but nothing noteworthy. No true vegan options.More

We're Florida natives, but we've moved away and came back for vacation. The cracked conch was the only thing that was decent. It was not tenderised enough and was cut way too small, also served with a sauce that came straight from some Gordon's coconut...shrimp packet. The "lobster bisque" was pumpkin soup with some lobster flavour, no texture at ALL. The spinach salad and Caesar salad were equally pedestrian, too sweet and all mayo no flavour. Even the oysters were over steamed and served with a crappy cocktail sauce. I asked for hot sauce twice and never received it. The cocktails, mojitos, were so sweet we couldn't drink them. Only choked them down because they were so insanely priced. You're paying for the location, proceed accordingly.More

This place is always busy and has a crazy wait time. The wait time was an hour to a hour and a half. We also tried calling ahead of time to see if they could cook us some fish that we had caught. They said...they could but no one knew how much we should bring. So, it wouldve been really nice to know that we would have to wait an hour and a half with fresh fish in our hands ahead of time. Thankfully, the hosts told us to go down to the Half Shell Raw Bar and that was a MUCH better idea! We were seated immediately and it wasn't packed like the Conch was, even with covid......More

While in Key West we visited here to have dinner. I ordered the oyster garlic parmesan. My boyfriend ordered the crab cakes. My oysters came out looking like they were covered in mud and sprinkled with bagged parmesan ( not melted). I don't play with...oysters so I asked the waiter to take it back and just bring out calamari. He insisted for me to try the oysters before sending them back in which I told him no thanks several times. He then turns his head to the side and smirks while whispering something underneath his breath. I could have made the situation a lot more complicated for him but chose to let him marinate in his ignorance. My boyfriend's crab cakes were delicious. I ordered a fish sandwich with fries. Fish could have been seasoned a little more. My boyfriend ordered the fried shrimp plate. I do exspect great service when sitting down to eat at a restaurant. I don't exspect to be silently ridiculed like I was from the waiter. At the end waiter watch to see if a tip was going to be left from us. It's a shame because we did leave one but he definitely did not earn it.More

Three of us had dinner at the CRS recently and the food was mediocre, definitely not up to a locals expectation of locally cooked seafood. The food was bland and tasteless. (Conch, Conch fritters, tuna tataki) Our waiter, while efficient, seemed to either be too...rushed or just didn't really care about "kindness". He gave "lip-service" but didn't stick around for even a moment to find out if things were OK after he asked. I think they are catering to tourist who will never return, so what does it matter? The bar, being on the bight is a great location-day or night. Drinks and bartenders are very good. I will continue to go to CRS's bar, but not for the food again.More

This place came recommended by a guest of the hotel we were staying at. So we went, and I really wish we hadn't. I ordered the blackened scallops as I can't eat them very often because of where I live. I was told they were..."jumbo size" and there was four of them. 33 bucks. Not exactly cheap given the tax and gratuity that needs to go over the top. Came with "risotto-style Israeli cous cous". When the food came, it turned out that, in order to "blacken" the rather unimpressive (i.e. small) scallops, they had been covered in some sort of seasoning. Why would anyone want to to do that to scallops, that is sacrilege. The food came with some pak choi which was completely unseasoned and hard as nails, completely uncooked. I am au fait with the term "al dente". This was not it. The risotto-style Israeli cous cous was just gloop. The rest of our party did not finish their food either. When I complained the staff blamed the "Texan chef". I suggested that I would not allow for any gratuity as he had misrepresented the food and he stormed off in a huff. Just goes to show he had no interest in presenting good food in a nice way, but just to get his hands on some of our hard-earned dosh for little or no effort. Which is pretty much the story of the whole week in Florida. Crap food, no customer service at all, high prices. Just don't go, it's not worth it.More

(I think we really made her day) We saw musicians coming in but sadly we were all done and stuffed before the live music began. Maybe next year we'll come back and dine a bit later:)More

Very busy and rude staff member at the front. He took my name for a table and told me they’d call in 30 mins. He was very direct and told me they had nothing now. It took longer than 30 and then when they did...call I told them, thank you but we had found something else to eat...the girl hung up the phone on me. 😳. So I have no clue how their food is but I can barely give them a star for the attitude of the staff, so I can’t imagine how their food will actually taste. Hopefully it is a little less crabby.More

We had conch fritters, the first we have had in years. There were 8 hush puppy sized fritters for $11. We were disappointed. The conch was chopped fine or maybe they just used juice. We did not feel like we had any conch. The Key...West pink shrimp were excellent and worth the high price of $29 a pound. The table next to us got conch chowder and loved it. We should have tooMore

Great large outdoor atmosphere. Very busy as we approached entrance. We find hired we’d have a long wait, so sat at large bar with several TV’s. I took a quick visit to gift shop. Within 15 minutes, our table was ready. We were sitting by...the window with greatt view of boats on Harbor walk. Our waiter was attentive, funny, and made good food suggestions when asked. We started with Oyster appetizer. They were fresh and tasty. I had fresh snapper with garlic chimichurri and marinated cherry tomatoes. Served with smashed potatoes and chef’s fresh vegetables. The fish was very fresh. I love garlic, however the garlic chimichurri was so strong it overpowered fish. Everything else was good My husband had the grouper and it was better than snapper, so we switched. Very busy restaurant so naturally noisy but still fun. We got great restaurant and bar suggestions from both waiter and guy that cleared table.More
