Netflix saves another TV show from cancellation and fans are thrilled

Fans really manifested this Netflix save.

After being cancelled by NBC earlier this year, missing plane drama Manifest will live another day at Netflix, where many viewers initially discovered the series. The news that the show’s fourth and final season was heading to Netflix was announced by the streamer on August 28. As fans know, the date was a reference to the show’s Flight 828, which disappeared for more than five years. Only hours passed for the show’s 191 passengers, who found themselves caught up in a twisted supernatural conspiracy as they attempted to reclaim their lives.

“Couldn't let a day as significant as today go uncelebrated,” the official Netflix account tweeted at 8:28 AM PST. “Manifest will officially return for a super-sized fourth and final season, only on Netflix!”

According to Deadline, stars Josh Dallas and Melissa Roxburgh are already set to return for the 20-episode season, which will be broken up into at least two parts. Of the good news, Dallas tweeted, “it’s all connected!!!”

Fans, many of whom engaged with the show’s #SaveManifest campaign, also expressed their excitement over the news on Twitter.

“Thank you @Netflix for giving us one more season of #Manifest,” one wrote. “I can't wait to see it!!”

Another added, “THANK YOU @netflix for picking up @NBCManifest!!! A fourth season is what we all need after that ending.”

Manifest’s renewal has been a long time coming. In June, creator Jeff Rake expressed his gratitude towards fans as he hoped to give them closure on the series.

“Manifesters! Your support is awe-inspiring. We’re trying to find a way to conclude the series. Could take a week, a month, a year. But we’re not giving up. You deserve an end to the story,” he tweeted at the time. “Keep the conversation alive. If it works out, it’s because of YOU.”

Netflix has saved cancelled network TV shows before. In 2019, it picked up ABC’s Designated Survivor for a third season, and picked up Fox’s Lucifer for a fourth and fifth season.
