Hello all, my last trip to Germany was Berlin in Dec 1990. I brought back about 50 Bundesrepublik marks (coins). Anyone exchanged these old coins for Euros lately? Where is best place to exchange? Is appointment needed? Fee to exchange? I have about 5 DDR Marks as well - any value to them (other than curiosity)?

Thank you.

You can exchange DM into Euros for free at any Bundesbank (federal bank) branch. Most bigger cities have one. At some branches, like in Frankfurt, you need to make an appointment but even then you might still have to wait in line. I probably wouldn‘t bother for what is equal to around €25 and keep them as a souvenir.
