So basicly I am an IMG who will be having my elective course to do international clinical rotations next year, and I am already searching for good places to go.
I will be doing my Step 1 very soon and I want to do my rotations at good places in Emergency Medicine as it is my favourite rotation. Some friends told me to aim high and apply for Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Harvard, and North Carolina, as it is possible to get rotations since I will have step 1 by that time....what is your advice regarding good places to go? Money doesn't matter much, I can pay if it gets me to great institutes

While those might be internationally known names (at least the first 3), they are hardly on the list of best places for Emergency Medicine.

I would check the Emergency Medicine forums and ask there about which places are the best EM sites. From the small time I have spent there, places like UMaryland and Cincinnati have been mentioned multiple times.

EM is slightly wonky. The places you would expect to be huge names generally have a very good in-patient set-up and logistics. Therefore, the EM departments do less and thus aren't seen as favorable as other locations where the in-patient services may not be as robust or competitive.

Thank you so much :D I applied for Cincinnati and now waiting for their reply :) UMaryland do not accept IMGs :/

Hi, but Cincinatti requires Step1 too, right? Was wondering how you managed to apply?
