Keystone Bridge rededication ceremony includes announcement of state award

The State Historical Society of Iowa Board of Trustees has selected the city of Elkader as the recipient of the 2024 Excellence in Archaeology and Historic Preservation Award for the Keystone Bridge Rehabilitation Project. Board member Dr. Terry Lindell presented the award during a rededication ceremony held for the bridge on May 7.

Former Central basketball coach Don Showalter returns to town May 20


Former Central basketball coach Don Showalter, who led the boys basketball team from 1976 to 1984, and continued a storied coaching career in the proceeding decades, will return to Elkader on May 20.
