Hi there - This post will serve as informational. Yesterday April 30, we went tubing. Had such as blast.... but for the first time my tube flipped over on the first chute. I am a decent/okay swimmer (never really had any emergency situation to rate otherwise) and didn't wear a life jacket There is a whirlpool current that sucked me down while my tube flipped over my head. It was really hard to get out and it became very real to me that I could have drowned. I tried to fight the current (or tried to stand rather) and that part of the river is soooo deep you can't land unless the current pushes you towards the steps. Very dangerous. Please wear a life jacket...(especially for the kids) I will be next time and I'm 38 years old. Last time I went I had no issues and i had my little yorkie with me. He could have easily drowned. I was completely unsuspecting because we didn't flip over. Take my story yall and tell everybody...please wear a life jacket!

The comal river is named the shortest longest river on Google of you look it up.. There are 3-4 chutes on the river.. You are able to BBQ off the river at local condos.. And you're able bring your drinks onto the river and enjoy the scenery of deer and ducks. There are also different tubing companies in surrounding areas to help you choose what options are best for you. I live in Houston so this is the closet peaceful getaway ever. I'll see y'all again Summer 2019❤️😘

It is wonderful. A Pharmacist I work with told me about the River in New Braunfels where him and his wife, also an R.N. would take their children on vacation and this was one of the site seeing places. Great for family tubing and such clear Spring Water. Right here in Texas with the most Spring Feed Rivers of all States in The United States. Known Fact. Spend the day on, the river plus area goes by a park so you can have family tow lunch too and have lunch in a picnic table and finish the lovely excursion of the river afterwards. Plus do not forget sun blocker for your children and yourselves. Rental tub places available & sold with return vehicles available to parking lots.. Many wonderful Rental Homes in the area as is Hotels.

We loved this river tubing experience and will definitely be back! The river was pleasantly fun, and the scenery was so calming and serene. There are multiple river chutes that are like small water slides and are really exciting! The river was not too deep, and there is a public exit. There are signs to guide you there. If you park at the public parking, it will be 1/2 mile to walk back, which isn't too bad at all! This is our new favorite river to tube at. Make sure to bring your own personal water jugs and tube. There is a charge to park if you decide to park in the public parking area, or you can also decide to park along the outside where there is no fee.

The river is awesome especially on a hot day. I will say the pricing for tubing is a bit steep and they are strict about certain rules, but as long as you follow them, you’ll have a relaxing and fun experience.

Water was low but we still had fun. Call local places to check safe swimming levels.

My favorite river in Texas. Follow the rules of the river or risk a ticket... No Styrofoam, no glass, no cans or disposable water bottles. Gotta get a little creative to bring drinks along. Wear shoes too, you'll regret going barefoot or in flip flops unless you tie them to your tube

This place is amazing i love it, the water is cold cold but for this hot weather its perfect to have a river like this one, usually pack, really difficult to find a parking spot you have a lot of options to rent tubes, although be careful cuz the police is usually checking your ice chest to see if you have alcohol or beer bottles glass, so i recommend if you do want to bring alcohol put it in different containers cups!

This place would be amazing but if you go on the wrong day be prepared to be bumping elbows with a thousand other tubers. Park rangers are helpful and friendly. Make sure to bring LOTS of sunscreen. Parking is a nightmare so be prepared to wait FOREVER for a good spot or walk a mile or more.

Had so much fun even though it rained on us when we got there. But worth the trip especially if you go early with water shoes and your own tube. We had a blast definitely a memorable 1/2 week we have spent in NB. Still more for us to explore maybe next time….

Fantastic little hidden gem of a Children's Mueseum! Obviously very kid friendly, & the staff is great! My son loves coming here frequently as he has been brought by my wife alot but today I got to come aswell and found a great place for kids much bigger than I thought. I will definitely bring the kids back more especially once my 10 month old becomes more mobile aswell! We are also going to look into a membership since we are coming so frequently.

Had a blast at a family friends’ kiddos bday party! So much to offer toddlers, wish it was a bit closer as I do not live in NB but SA isn’t too bad of a drive. We will definitely return.

Great for toddlers. There were so many activities for them to do. We only got to explore half the museum. I enjoy that it was all on one level making it easier for me to watch my two kids under 3. The outdoor area has a lot of water tables and a giant climbing structure. Clean and wonderful environment for the kids.

Definitely more fun for the younger kids, but our teenagers also had fun hanging out. It is not a big footprint and is a well thought out design. It is easy to see most of the museum so the kids can run around without worrying that you lost someone. They have leaned into the role-play aspect as there are areas to be an astronaut, camper, doctor, grocer, banker, etc. We also liked that the toddler area is in the middle, so you can let the littlest guests play with supervision while the older guests can explore safely.

I visited with my 2 year old grandson and he had the best time! There are multiple areas to play and explore, both indoor and outdoor. There were large foam building blocks, areas to climb along with a slide, and several hands on water activities. Indoors, there are multiple rooms such as a grocery store, play kitchen, medical clinic, train set, painting room, and an area with wind tunnels (all the kids really enjoy that one!) It was very clean, friendly staff, well priced ($8). We will definitely be going again and may even purchase an annual membership.

Got the membership after our 1st visit. My 2yo loves it and they have a variety of activities the kids can get involved in. I love how it displays a miniature of our everyday activities. Toys are tailored for kids and with kids in mind. I've seen a lot of hither parties there as well. Cool place

We love McKenna! My kiddos have been coming here since they could walk and they love it! They have multiple areas for imaginative play, a house, hospital, grocery store, camp site, space ship, and many more! They have arts and crafts that change every week. They have an amazing outdoor water table that the kids love. It's a beautiful museum sure to entertain!

Cute small children’s museum! Inexpensive and not too crowded, my kiddos loved it here. Definitely a good place for your kids to have fun.

Such a wonderful place for kids. Smaller than I expected but the perfect size for kids under 5. I did see older kids there, however, I have a little under 2 so that's my limited perspective. Our little was a tad too short still for some things like the grocery store but still enjoyed walking around. The kitchen, ER center, NASA space section, and the air tubes were a hit. They did a cute 'Toddler Tuesday' event where the littles made bunny bait. Mine focused on eating it all but hey, whatever makes them happy. The space walk is pitch black so beware if any littles are grappling with the dark, but a very cool experience. The campfire area is adorable and the outdoor play is a nice touch with a massive water table. Having a Tot spot was great, tough when kids over 3 enter but most parents are on top of their kids there. Our little had a blast at every turn, mainly wanting to play in the little kitchen/house corner. There were two field trips so it was more crowded than normal for a Tuesday morning but to be expected. Once those kids cleared out it was so nice to have it all to ourselves. We definitely want to go back, not sure if the adults had more fun or the kid but willing to reevaluate with another trip. No discounts on tickets for any age, no senior discounts for grandparents. I believe littles under 1 are free. Really a great deal at $8 pp.

Lots of stuff to do for kids under 6, not sure if older kids would be entertained. Very well kept up and clean for as many kids that are there. Both inside and outside activities.

After a couple of months of attempting to resolve over the phone and email, I am left with leaving a review. I was hoping the museum would make this right. We had a birthday party for my daughter in July. Before I get to that, I’d like to add that they do not accommodate requests for children that have medically documented allergies regarding other food options for parties. It’s pizza and pizza only. They do not allow you to bring in alternatives. Only cake or cupcakes. No veggies, no labeled fruits snacks, nothing. I went back and counted our guests from photos taken at the party. We were charged for extra guests over the allotted amount. I asked before hand regarding a list or taking names. It was not clearly communicated how this would work. I am certain that the other parties guests were being checked in under ours. Causing the additional charge. As a parent hosting, you’re supposed to have access to help. They assign you a person to the room. This individual would disappear and reappear past the time she said she would be. It made it very chaotic with trying to get things organized and set up. There are carts you are supposed to have access to. The other party was allowed to use all carts, leaving us with none. I am expecting and the museum thought it was suffice to tell me that they cannot guarantee carts will be available for use. They also did not have staff help me with loading. Ultimately, my daughter had fun with her friends. Had I known I would be doing everything on my own without the resource’s advertised to me, I would have paid the extra money for a different venue. Due to management/directors response, we will not return to the museum. Photo added so you know this is a legit review and that we did in fact rent the space.

Lots of fun activities and even a Cafe to eat at. Prices are a little steep for just a sandwich and soup, but the price for entrance to the museum is well worth it.

Ok for young children and someone to explain items to them. Boring for senior adults. Most items not labeled as to what they are. Can spend about 45 minutes here if you read all the plaques. $8 entry

The museum was laid out in a very interesting way, by sections of their lives. A very sophisticated and cultural life for being transported from city to country living.

This museum tells a detailed history of the settlement of Texas arraigned by German nobility in the mid 1800’s. There is an amazing collection of artifacts that were saved and donated by the German population. The lobby has a nice explanation of the evolution of the major oil companies. There is a short film that introduces the immigration process. There is a small, city like old town to walk through. The highlight to me is the age, conditions, and variety of artifacts. Cost is $ 8 for adults.

The Sophienburg museum provides an interesting background on the history and experience of German settlers in the region. Exhibits range from the vessels they came in to life in town. Movies provide additional detail on how and why they came and their influence on modern day education. Allow 45-60 minutes to take it all in. Excellent value if you're interested in regional history.

My husband and I visited the museum and found it to be a really well done collection of artifacts. We spent about an hour going through the museum and the gift shop. The staff there was very friendly and provided helpful information. We are really glad we went.

Great Museum of the settlement of New Braunfels. Clean and well-organized, some video presentations, wonderful intro background by docent before self tour. 90 minutes gave our group a wonderful overview of New Braunfels in the 1800's. Highly recommend!

This museum is wonderful. While it's not a large museum there is a lot to see and take in. I would have loved to spend more time but we were meeting a friend and could only spend 45 minutes. At $8 I think it's an extremely good value. It's a nice place to escape from heat and crowds and learn some history of New Braunfels! The amount of detail put into this museum was appreciated and not lost on us! My only negative is that the employees were not friendly at all. I had read reviews about how helpful and nice they are. That was not our experience. The gift shop was wonderful but the woman behind the register literally didn't acknowledge us. Disappointing but definitely not enough to deter us from coming back or recommending it.

A smaller Museum offering a clear glimpse into past local Germanic history. Unusual items have created this Museum, well worth meandering through & reading about it all. Prince Carl of Old Braunfels in Germany arrived here to create this town of New Braunfels. Dont firget to visit " Sophie's Shop," their German gift Shop. Enjoy the photos.

You must go into Sophie's gift shop it is amazing. It has holiday themed items, as well as great day to day items. The young lady that runs the gift shop is very helpful and obviously takes pride in her work.

Spent 45 minutes hear reading all their signage. Many, many items unidentified in their exhibits. Tickets are $8 each. Ok for young people to learn history, but not much fun for us seniors.

At first I had second thoughts that it will be boring but I'm glad I went. I loved everything about the ancestors of new braunfels. Since I'm from Germany, it was a huge pleasure to see all the old pieces!!!

What a surprisingly comprehensive cultural history museum! Really brings historical New Braunfels to life! Very warm, knowledgeable staff welcomed us today.

I went on the weekend while it's free. Definitely cool to learn about New Braunfels and it's founding, even though I'm not even from New Braunfels.

What a cute museum! We enjoyed learning about the city of NB and its rich German history. The murals around town make a lot more sense if you understand the story behind them!

This was our 1st time here, which was very interesting and very nicely set up. If you like history, especially of this town of why and how it came to be, this will answer your questions. They have a lot of old artifacts it's small yet full of a lot of interesting information. How this Prince Carl Solms-Braunfels came to be and why it is New Braunfels. The staff is very knowledgeable and very friendly. Be nice to go, at least so you know the history of New Braunfels.

Nice quaint place away from the mob of people visiting Gruene. First time visiting and loved the vibe and wine! They have something for everyone even the sweet tooth like me and Wifey!🤪 definitely have to do the wine tasting for $4! Plus the souvenir glasses for $2 more each! Great bargain! The infused wines were the favorites! Not the strongest but very tasteful! We bought 6 bottles and after leaving wish we bought more! Great service too!

This is our favorite winery in greune! We will be back every chance we get. Excellent pricing for tastings, the wines are fantastic, the owners are super personable, and the staff is very friendly. Definitely worth your next stop!

New owners celebrated their first anniversary of ownership recently. Very personable, and they set up events each Thursday that rotate between Bingo, Karaoke, and Trivia - with fun prizes! Option to Buy in for wine membership is a terrific value, giving you added discounts and benefits, including percentages off, birthday deals, and $10 when you refer another to membership. We tried variations of wines. My favorite was the Pinot Grigio. Our table taste tested Watermelon White Merlot, Texas Rose, Raspberry White Zinfandel, Peach Chardonnay, lil' Cranberry, Acai Cabernet and there are so many more options, both fruit based and others. The Pinots were my favorite. The Winery of the Gruene is a great place to hang, or celebrate a birthday (like I did 2 years ago) or college graduates, like we did this year. Indoor and outdoor options, light fare to keep you sober while you have tastings, and walking distance from all things wonderful about Gruene, Texas. Highly recommend, you will find at least 1 or 2 wines that you loved and take home!

Well I really wanted to enjoy this place. I ordered 2 wine tastings and left my tab open(they keep your card). I go to purchase two bottles of wine and they can’t find my card. They literally gave my card to another customer when HE closed his tab AND charged me for his tab. I get it mistakes happen however they never even apologized AT ALL!! They took his charges off my card BUT proceeded to charge me for mine. It should’ve been free at the very least for the inconvenience. Again, not one single person behind the bar ever apologized for what happened. Completely irresponsible behavior. Get a better system in place if you’re going to keep people’s cards if they open a tab. If someone had said they were sorry, I wouldn’t even be leaving this review

Fabulous place! Stop in for a glass or a tasting! 4 tastes for $4, keep your glass for an extra $2. Very reasonable prices. Lots of choices if you have wine experience or if you are a novice. My personal favorite is Gewurtztraminer (ask for Girls Are Meaner!) They have ports right now for the holidays. Bathroom on site and a food truck outside. Inside or outside for tasting. Parking on site. Pam is amazing and will help you out!

We normally love going here as we enjoy the wines and the staff. We come back every fall for their fantastic ports. We stopped in on Sunday and had our normal awesome experience. The wine was great and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. We returned on Tuesday night and the staff were unpleasant and downright rude in favor of a staff member's family and friends who were there. Hopefully, this was just a once off since we really enjoy coming here every time we come to the New Braunfels area. Would have given a five star except for this last unpleasant experience.

I love sweet, fruity wine, so this is my favorite spot. They have a great tasting (4 samples for $7), and the wine is very reasonably priced. It is the first wine where I can actually TASTE the fruit. They of course have your typical reds and whites if sweet is not your thing. The only downside is the lack of comfortable seating during the hot months. It does tend to get busy, so plan accordingly.

Visited several times in the past and had a good experience. Our visit 6/4, the two ladies at the winery were NOT friendly and not very welcoming. Wine is reasonable priced and the venue is pretty. Rating heavily based on terrible customer service experience.

The Winery on the Gruene is a nice little winery. They offer a good selection of wines for tasting and of course available to purchase. If you like dessert oriented Port wines the selection and flavors they offer was truly spectacular.

A really lovely little stop off and a great place to pop in to. It will occupy about 30minutes with kids or longer perhaps without. There is so much history crammed in here and the volunteer that ran it on the day we were visiting was excellent.

Went into a small room that had a lot of information and photos. When you went into the miniature train room, the lady had 6 trains running around an entire city, which filled up the room. Outside, they had real train components that u could walk through. An engine, baggage compartment, dining car and caboose. They only asked 4 a 3 dollar donation. On certain days, we are set aside 4 kids to run certain things

Very small Museum not much to see. Can blow past it within a few minutes. It was amazing seeing how big trains are up close. Also, it's free with a suggested donation of $3.

Freindly guides. There's a large dining car, a caboose and a room with a massive model train set with village built over time by a local train enthusiast club...a must see!

Nice little museum. Kids are encouraged to interact with the exhibits. The two guys running the museum loved to talk trains.

We were staying in San Antonio and decided to drive over to New Braunfels for the day. We went to the railroad museum as it opens at noon and really enjoyed it. They have a lot of memorabulia concerning the railroad as well as a scale model railroad that they will run for you. They also have an old steam engine and dining car. If you like trains this is worth a visit. They asked for a $3.00 donation per person which was very reasonable.

Perfect outing for the kids! Great field trip for homeschoolers! It was very educational!! Can't wait to go pm Kids Fun Day!°

This place is such a great vineyard and has the best vibes. We celebrated my mother's 70th bday and they provided some great accommodations as we did a tasting. All of the wines we tried on the tasting list are delicious. Katie and all the ladies there were so nice and friendly. The live music was fantastic as well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

We are back! Missed a year due to COVID-19 onset last year! Wine stile good, atmosphere still great, and service still superb! Added a food truck on Sundays! Awesome tasting BBQ! Can’t beat this! Get there early before 3pm on Sunday for wine tasting! Great wine and easy going vibe! Love this get away from Houston!

Beautiful place to hang out and drink delicious wine! I'm a mom and I LOVE that kids aren't allowed here. 99.9% of the places around this area are family friendly so it's nice to have an adult only option that's open during the day time lol I like drinking in peace! My only complaint is I wish they were open later in the evening. It's hard to make it before 6 pm sometimes. Overall, love being a member here! It's always a good time.

Best vineyard I have ever been to! The service was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable about each wine we tasted. I am typically not a fan of red wine (prefer sweeter wines) but all of their reds were incredible and smooth. They change out their wines often so there is always something new. We will definitely be going back!

Love the staff! They have many events for their members where they make you feel like family. Wines are good and reasonably priced. The property is beautiful, very inviting "backyard" vibe, makes you feel at home.

Great tasting! And very affordable. 10/10 would go again. The staff was very knowledgeable and the atmosphere was very chill vibes. No live band when we went, the playlist was awesome. They were very accommodating and welcomed us even though they prefer reservations. I would love to come back when the vines are growing.

We loved coming here! My girlfriends and I did a tasting, got a bottle of wine and charcuterie board. It was delicious and the staff was so nice. I will definitely come back with my husband.

Beautiful park... you gotta go see Founder's Oak. There are places to picnic, places to hike, a mini train to ride for children, paddle boats, and plenty of beautiful nature to see. If you are bored then maybe you're boring! No... come on... I didn't mean that to be mean! You just gotta look a little closer at the beauty! Keep the place clean and have fun!

Very family friendly park. There are activities for folks of all ages and age appropiate playgrounds. Great in the morning if you are looking for a low impact cardio.

This park pleasantly surprised. Initially hailing from a place of remarkable beauty and awe, I was astounded upon arriving at this park with my family. The weather was ideal, with an unblemished sky. The ducks were inviting and friendly. I highly recommend this park to anyone seeking to enjoy the outdoors without venturing too far. The water is shallow, and the variety of trees is magnificent. We will undoubtedly return.

This park is phenomenal. I went with youth from my church in North Texas, partnering with a local church, Epic Life New Braunfels. We did several hours of service work in the park. We really loved the music features in the park as well as the historical features. I was stunned at how many people were in the park in the afternoon. It was great to see so many people there enjoying the park.

Great park. Perfect for picnics, birthday parties, and chilling out with family and friends. Huge playground, wading pool, and nice hiking trail, Panther Canyon Trail, at the far side park adjacent to wading pool. We hope you enjoy the park as much as we did.

What a fabulous park! I highly recommend this place. The trees are gorgeous and big. The springs are interesting. You can swim or fish, picnic or hike.

Great park. Well maintained and clean. We stayed around the playground area for the most part and the equipment was really nice and clean. There are several separate areas of swings, small children (3-5 years old) play structures, larger children structures, etc. Most of them have the nice rubber floor that kids won’t hurt themselves on. The play structures are all in very shaded areas which makes playing there very pleasant. Great place to bring kids of all ages.

Gorgeous and fun! So much to do with kids. We went for a walk, trem ride, many playgrounds, amazing views… This is a must go!!! Hubby, kids, dog and I had lots of fun.

New Braunfels TX has no shortness of parks and water activities Landa parks has something for everyone even a miniature train that you can ride around the park. It has wonderful paved and unpaved trails. It has beautiful places to photo. Walking along the many parts that have water and the bridges that connect this well laid out park is wonderful. When the weather is warm I really suggest a picnic lunch near any of the many spots. Many spots have ducks floating around. It was not busy when we went there but understand it can get a little crowded during holidays. My GPS kept leading us in the wrong direction so watch for the clear marked signs on the posts or use the map on your phone or the old fashion paper map. We spent several hours walking the easy trails. New Braunfels has done a great job keeping this park up. Dog are permitted if on a lease. One thing to be aware of is the parking fees so check ahead as they do not all take money. When we went in December I called to find out they do not charge in the winter months but unless you want to electronic pay give the park a call. I hope you give this park a visit we certainly want to return. Hats off to all the workers that keep this park in top shelf condition

Wonderful park! I have visited it often. It does get quite busy on weekends, so I prefer to go during weekdays. Has a nice trail to walk too, although the last portion can be a little unclear if you don’t already know the correct path.

Landa Park has long been one of my favorite parks. This park is huge. You can see the river in several different spots, including where it springs up from underground. You can rent paddle boats and ride a small train. You can rent picnic tables. Or simply walk around or hike some of the trails. Its a beautiful place to exist in nature. You will probably see deer. Check out the tiny salt pepper historic mine as well. There are bathrooms thankfully.

It's a great place for a family picnic. The setting is fantastic, the tables were clean, the ablutions were good. The train ride was fun, and we even managed to catch a fish 😁

So beautiful. If I hadn't just got my MBB procedure, it would have been much more enjoyable. I plan on going back once I am in complete healing. There is so much to see.

One of the beautiful landmarks in Texas especially close to the birth place of Comal river. They have toy train,duck pond and short walking area along the river. Suggested time is to visit during evenings/weekends.HappyVisiting

Beautiful park and lots of things to do with family. My kids didn't want to leave since they were having so much fun in the playgrounds. Perfect for walking and enjoying the nice view, nature and weather. I loved it. We saw lots of deers in the area too, what a wonderful day!

This place is so much fun. My 4yo and 2yo both loved it, especially feeding the goats and llama at the petting zoo. Being the first week of August, it was really really hot and dry, so most of the bigger animals were secluded in the shade. We will be back to visit during a cooler time of year. One area is currently under construction, but the whole place was wheelchair/stroller friendly. The staff was very friendly and attentive when my niece got stung by a bee. Overall, it was a great experience.

We visited on an early Sunday morning. The line was not too long. When we left, however, the line was super long to get in. My daughter had a good time looking at all the animals. I enjoyed all the chickens and roosters walking freely. The feed for the goats is 5 dollars. I do wish they had the option of having a bottle with milk too. I was surprised to see lions, a jaguar, panther, camels and other large animals there too. I thought they only had snakes and peeting animals. Although I did like seeing the larger animals (like lions) up close I cant help but feel bad for them at the same time.

Fun family adventure! The staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable about all the animals. They have events every half hour, from feedings to general education shows. You can interact with the bisons, a baby alligator, goats, baby cows, a lama/alpaca, chickens, capybaras, pigs, and a snake. There are animal encounters you can purchase. We chose the fox one, and we all got to take turns sitting with the fox on our lap and petting him (Joe). We bombard the handler with questions, and she knew all the answers. Was a very educated and fun experience! They even have a snack truck on the lot where you can get beer! I will admit, I've driven past that building at least 50 times over the past 20 years, and I never knew they had more than snakes. I think it's a common misconception. The eyes skip right over the "Animal World" and only focus on "Snake Farm". I will definitely make my way back there again. It would be a fun adventure to bring visiting family and friends.

This zoo is awesome for kids! I brought my family and we were not disappointed. Lots of snakes and reptiles when you first walk in, and lots of animals when you go out the back. When I was there they had staff showing animals in a sort of class setting which I thought was awesome, and the kids loved the petting zoo. Only thing I didn’t like about the place was that they have a snow cone/frozen ice place in the back and it is completely overtaken by bees, but besides that it easily earns 5 starts!

Great experience took our 19 month old and we had a blast. I have never been so close to the animals at any other zoo. The petting zoo was especially fun with goats and the llama. The snake walk was nice as well. A vast array of reptiles in clean well kept cages. We will be back for sure. Better than Austin zoo by far.

The best Zoo I've been to. And I've been to the San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas zoos. They have larger animals like wolf's, lions, crocodiles, and buffalo. And my favorite the capibara. They're missing large animals like gorillas, chimps, elephants, rhino's, hippos, bears, and giraffes. For $20 I got to see the animals up close and visit the petting zoo area. Amazing place to bring your kids. The gift shop was great too.

I have passed the 35 Snake Farm for years on I-35. It’s always stood out like a sore thumb and appeared to be a random small roadside attraction that made me chuckle a little bit when passing based off the pure randomness of it. I decided one day to give it a shot and I was very surprised! This “snake farm” small zoo is very well run and surprisingly feels bigger than what it appears from the road side. The habitats seem very well kept and the paths to get to everything were spacious. It was of course interesting to see all the snakes but our family really enjoyed seeing the bison and feeding the free roaming chickens and peacocks. I was worried that this might be like Tiger King but the staff seemed overall very friendly an engaged with everything going on. If you get the chance I people definitely recommend making the stop and checking it out. My family ended up spending 3 hours here and will be back again!

This place was a lot of fun! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable! There were way more animals than I was expecting and the parking was adequate and free! I will say that I think you get a better experience earlier in the day, by midday the animals were definitely losing interest and weren't as engaging as they were earlier. My only complaint is that they only provide enrichment for the large animals "at least 2x a week" and many of the animals were really bored and did not look happy.

This was a nice little zoo at which to spend an afternoon. For $20/person, we definitely got our money's worth! My family and I were visiting from Southern California, and we don't have many zoos like this around. As soon as you walk through the front door YOU ARE IN IT! Snakes and lizards to the left and right! They even had an anaconda and a black mamba! The staff are all very nice and helpful, and they make announcements for all guests to know when a particular animal was going to be fed so that you can join and, depending on the animal, participate! I highly recommend that you visit this place!

This place is so cute. It's kinda small but it has a lot of potential. Tons of snakes and different animals. Lions, hyenas, jaguars, and even wolves. I would definitely bring the family. Kids would be excited about this place!

If you love snakes and exotic animals/big cats, then this is the place to go. Private family owned zoo that specializes in snakes (obviously), but also has other animals in their outdoor area, birds, lions, Jaguar, black panther, bison, hyenas, alligators, zebras, lemurs and more. There are chickens and peacocks wandering freely outside as well. All the money you spend goes directly to support the zoo, they don't receive any state funding. They have a breeding program that helps requirements endangered species in partnership with other zoos, like the San Antonio zoo. They were featured on dirty jobs, so you can look that up to get an inside peak on what they do there. There are periodical presentations around the park with various animals, a petting zoo where you can feed the animals, live feeding of the hyenas, wolves and lions as well as personal one on one interactions with the animals, that one you have to pay for. Very interesting little zoo that has more to offer than you would think for a small place on the side of the highway. They told us that they just acquired another sizeable chunk of land to expand the zoo, so more stuff coming in the near future.

Small zoo but it's just perfect for visiting in the hot summer. Most of the outside is shaded. I love the free roaming roosters and peacocks. What I liked most is that all the animals were out so we didn't miss any of them.

Totally adorable little zoo! So much to see, learn and do! I loved the encounters. We had the Capybaras, Red Ruffed Lemur and Burmese Python. Kevin and Skyler were 2 of the animal hosts and they were wonderful. They really love those animals. Everyone was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I’ve lived in Texas forever and have seen the signs for this place for years but never had went. I’m so glad we finally did.

We were delighted to stumble across this hidden gem in the San Antonio/Comal County area. My family and I frequent a lot of parks, zoos, museums, resorts, etc., so we're familiar with the industry/terrain of "family-friendly" fun. The line moved a little slow to get us in the doors but we eventually got in and got our tickets for entry; perhaps there are online tickets I could have purchased ahead of time? Disappointed at how high the costs were to enter; I believe it was around $30 per person? I understand the cost of running an establishment of this nature but for a family of four, that's $120 (maybe higher) plus tax? Plus gift shop, food to feed the animals, snacks/drinks, etc.; too high. There is, however, a great selection of snakes and animals to learn about. The place makes for a real educational experience. The kids and entire family had a great time with how close we were able to get to the exhibits/animals, the variety of species, and the petting/feeding zones. More restrooms are an absolute must and non-negotiable for how many people frequent the zoo; there are outdoor port-a-potties, but in this heat, who could stand being in there for more than 10 seconds? Way too hot for that. Overall, good but not great due to costs and restrooms. Let us know when you want us back and we'll try to have a better experience.

Wonderful time at the snake farm zoo! Lots of gorgeous snakes and even many unexpected animals like white lions and hyenas! We also got to pet Simon, a rather large python who was every sweet. Would absolutely recommend. We got there around 2 on a Monday and there were not many people there but after about 3p the families really came in! Tickets were a little cheaper in person at $20 per adult and the feed cups for the petting zoo were $5 each (definitely recommend).

Was quaint and small enough to enjoy in a personal way. They don't rush you, and you stay as long as you like. The variety of snakes is incredible. It is an opportunity to learn so much about snakes. The zoo animals are beautiful, and petting zoo is very entertaining. Adults and children will enjoy.

I had a very fun experiencing getting to feed and interact with all of the animals! It’s a nice place to check out with friends and family. There’s also a lot of information regarding where the animals are from, what they like to eat, etc. Definitely make time to spend a couple of hours here as there is a lot to see and do.

Still the hotest coolest time in Texas. Haven't been to the original in probably 10 years. So long that my son barely remembers and asked if we could visit. A lot has changed - digital codes to access the lockers instead of a key on a wristband, Google and Apple Pay instead of a wristband of plastic "splash cash" to buy food and drinks. Yet, much remains the same - free parking, the ability to bring in your own cooler of food and drinks, and more water rides and play areas than you can shake a stick at. I've read recent reviews complaining about rides and unfriendly staff this summer and lamenting the new ownership. This was not our experience. There were a few things that weren't operating, which was annoying in cases. However, our experience with the staff was as friendly as it has always been. It's still a great place to spend cooling off during the hot Summer days.

Note: we are Season ticket holders. This water park is a great experience for me and my family. We have children ages: 18, 16, 13, 6 & 2. There are a lot of shaded areas, lockers, picnic tables, tubes, soda/icee locations, restaurants, etc. As a season ticket holder you can bring in a cooler (27” x 16”) which is great. You can bring in your own personal bottle and you can fill it up with water. I’ve found the staff to be friendly despite being in the hot Texas sun all day. If you want close free parking come early. I look forward to going back!

First time here. Lines were kinda long for rides but moved steady. Drinks were good and cold. The lazy river with the tubes was awesome and only 3 ft deep however the waves are forceful to propel us forward but can take a small child fast from his family so be careful with small children. I'm planning another trip already because I want to definitely go back.

Beautiful place along the Comal River. Rides for all ages and pools to hang out in if you don’t like lines. It was clean and had plenty of tables. Although many of kids employed around the park seemed clueless, there were lifeguards everywhere and they appeared to be well trained and friendly.

So much fun for all ages. I’m pregnant so couldn’t ride too many rides but we still had fun. The Kristal River was awesome. Kids loved the Falls and the kiddie area in the original park.

By far our favorite visit this summer!! A little disappointed with the lack of organization trying to buy the meal passes for the day. It took an hour and repeated visits to get our correct meals. It was 107 degrees the day we would hear a lot of people had the same issue with being able to refill their drink cups. It is so important to stay hydrated with this heat. There should be more stations available to accommodate. Two people passed out from dehydration. That being said, we had a blast. We loved both parks and all of the fun rides. We took the tram to the original park and fell in love with the wave pool. It was a BLAST!!!! We hope to be able to go again!

Great time for the family. Love the free parking and bring your own food and drinks option available. Highly recommend to wear water shoes . Plenty natural shades in picnic areas.They force you to get off at the end, which is reasonable. Line for this was about 30 minutes. Line to get into the wave pool area was longer (can't just walk into the wave pool area anymore). No line to get into the lazy river in the kids area.

Seems very disorganized. Got there right as they opened but in order to get the blast pass that was paid for online, you have to go to the main entrance and wait in line to receive the wrist bands (for us it took almost 30 minutes of waiting) which seems so counterproductive. The blast pass is like a reservation and you can only make one reservation for a ride at a time. I get that it’s probably meant to not abuse the privilege but we were only able to utilize it on 4 rides the entire day. There needs to be so much more signage around the parks in general, it’s so easy to not know what you’re doing or where you’re going unless you are a seasoned member. Also, asking for directions or how to get somewhere you could get 4 different answers from 4 different employees. Just disorganized. Also, we brought several beach towels, there’s really no need if it’s hot outside. We dried off before we even made it to the shuttle because it was so hot. Also, water shoes/socks are a must! If you have older kids make sure you’re starting at the right park, we started at the wrong park which seemed to be geared more toward younger kids.

Loved this place. After hearing about the best barbecue being in Texas....I tried a few places that were no better than new York. This place was amazing though..... delicious mesquite flavored food.....great sides...super friendly staff. I loved your food and would recommend it to anyone.

It was a lot of fun. However the blast pass needs huge improvements. The wait times are not consistent with actual wait times. It showed 150min wait on the watch, while there was only 45min wait. But other than that, it was a lot of fun.

Nice facility. Great rides. Entry fees are a bit outrageous 2 adults. 1x16 yo, 1x15 yo, 1x13 yo, 1x11 yo. $575. Never again! And. Do NOT get your food or refreshments at the Lagoon Grill. Extensive, unwarranted wait. Otherwise. Super Nice water park.

I went on a Saturday with my family. Very beautiful, clean and family friendly water park. Water tube rides aka lazy rivers had different themed courses and thrill levels. Water slides were enjoyable. There were long lines but they were fast moving. Every ride we went were worth the wait and money. We were able enjoy it more than once. Definitely recommend. ❤️

We started this trip with an excited experience but turned out with little disappointment. Trust me its not to ruin your holiday mood but to consider these points to make your trip planning better. And these points mainly applicable if you visiting on a weekend/holiday where heavy crowd is expected. Visited on a weekend morning. Arrived around 10am but it was around crowded that time with all parking slots filled up. Now we had to book in premium parking Secondly no shade for entrance crowd for security clearance, lot of people with kids are standing under hot sun. Wish management does something for crowd management or atleast an shade. Secondly every ride gets super busy/crowded and wait time gets multi folded. As well interacted with multiple people, at max you can do 3/4 rides in a park out of 2 parks Its better you get 2 day pass if plan to visit both the parks. Better suggested to visit on weekday or non crowded days for better enjoyment, a personal suggestion

We’ve been coming here for years. The drive from Austin is totally worth it. I love it in summer, sitting in lawn chairs with a cooler full of drinks and snacks. I love it in winter, snuggled up in the car. Even when my kids were little we stayed for the full double feature. It’s easy to get tickets upon arrival even on the weekend.

I grew up going to the Drive-In until the one in my city closed. Went to various ones while traveling. I relocated to SATX last year and definitely wanted to come check out Stars and Stripes. Finally made it out and it was awesome. Nothing better than watching a movie wearing pajamas and no shoes with your seat reclined. Will definitely make it a regular occurrence. Next time I will plan better and get dinner.

🎶 Let’s All Go To The Drive-Innnnnn - Let’s All Go To The Drive-Innnnnn 🎶 My ONLY complaint is that the New Braunfels location doesn’t sell the famous Chihuahua Sandwich (like the one in Lubbock) - which is one of my very favorite sandwiches in the whole entire world - and I really just don’t understand why they don’t make it here too, I mean, the Chihuahua could easily become the next big thing, and then right here smack dab in the middle of the San Antonio-Austin corridor of all places(!) - seems like a no-brainer to me and a real lost opportunity!

Best ever. We left a bit early because of the weather in the area but the time there was great! Most people follow instructions about lights and such. They have a cute playground for kids to get out that energy. The restrooms are clean. The restaurant is really cute and was clean when we went. Staff was very nice. Definitely recommend for date nights, family nights, or just all around a good time without having to sit directly next to others.

I’ve been bringing my children here for about 8 years now and they love it! I get a wave of nostalgia watching them live in the moment that I’ve also enjoyed as a child from the 90s. Stars & Stripes is spacious, clean and very convenient. There’s a playground and seating for my littles to play and run around when they lose interest in the screen. Indoor Concession stand with seating, clean restrooms. Trash cans around the parking lot for quick and easy clean up. We enjoy the double feature along with bringing our ice chest filled with snacks and drinks for the family.

We enjoyed this drive in so much!! Everything was such a pleasant experience, staff was friendly and kind. They had to remind others to turn off their lights and lower their hatch backs, while doing so they remained very respectful!! They even got into the Barbie spirit by dressing in hot pink tutus

This is a great place to come and watch a movie. The pricing is very competitive for both the tickets and the movies. The cafe has a lot of dining options and everything we ordered tasted great. The bathrooms were very clean and there was a nice playground outside for the kiddos to play around in. The place is ran well, and brings back nostalgic memories.

Fantastic place to see a movie. We saw the double feature. We backed the Suburban up sit in the back to get out of the wind. Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs and a blanket. Bring your own popcorn or snacks but definitely don’t miss out on trying their burgers and hotdogs. They are very tasty and not over priced. You can take the family out and not feel like you are getting robbed. The kids behind the counter are super friendly and courteous too. Bathroom was very clean too. This is a great family venue and American Tradition. It needs to be on your family outing list.

This place was a great time. Friendly staff, clean restrooms, and alot of fun. The snack bar prices were a good value compared to other theaters. I will be see alot more movies here. I recommend everyone check this place out. Reminder, bring an fm speaker to hear the movie sound/ audio if you're watching from a tailgate or lawn chair.

This is a family favorite for us. We love it year round. It’s nice to have the liberty to bring your own food and beverages in with you. But we always hit the concession stand too because the corn fritters are a treat unique to Stars and Stripes. Great place to meet up with large groups.

Friendly staff at the entrance. The drive in is nostalgic. It reminded me of the scene from Grease when they were at the drive in and the opening had the promotion for concessions. The drive in shared their own promotions for concessions and a message of being courteousness while there. It's a great place to take the family or have date night. And a great place to go to with your friends. My first visit was rocky because of some rude audience members that flashed their lights during the movie. But I do hope that it's not the norm all the time. It's still a great place to catch a movie or double feature with nostalgia.

Great place for family fun. We get their an hour early so our kids could play on the play ground. Also there food is pretty good and at a great price. But it’s also a plus to bring your own takeout. And for the price it’s a bargain to see the double feature, if you can stay up. They do start very late but it’s definitely worth it. Nice clean facilities.

It was my first visit and the experience was great! It was chilly out, but I love the fact there's a playground because I will definitely be back again and again :) I haven't been to the Drive Inn since the one in San Antonio closed. I love that Stars and Stripes has offered the childhood experience for me again and being able to bring my son. Also, the hotdogs and funnel cake we're delicious. The staff is friendly, and I was greeted with a smile by the cashier. Customer service 5 star.

Great tubing experience. It’s at the start of the river with easy access to get into the river. The tubs had bottoms but they don’t have a head rest option which would be great. Over all I would use them again.

Landa Falls made many improvements since the last time we were here. It's absolutely beautiful. The only thing I didn't like was the wait time to get in the river. They did have a waiting area near the water that was nice, but we were ready to float right away like we used to be able to do. All that aside, we had a wonderful time!!

Had a blast at Landa Falls tubing this July 4th! Water was nice and fresh and cool. Definitely recommend getting a tube with a bottom so you can keep your sunscreen and water bottles at the bottom without worrying about holding them the entire time. Fun for the whole family and a great way to cool off from the heat! $20 for a weekday and $25 for weekend or holiday. Our shuttle driver was so nice!

It is a nice ride down the river. It takes you less than 3 hours to get to the end of the ride if you take it from here. Just be sure to use sunblock or you will regret it. You might find that guy with the loud music during the ride.

The longest float on the Comal is a great choice because of the great price, ease of check-in, great tubes, and long relaxing ride! We traveled with a group of 7 and got an extra tube for our cooler and two kayak/wet bags we brought for valuables/snacks. I picked Landa Falls because the price was the same or better than all the other places and it had the longest float of all of them. This was a solid 3.5 hour float in early July while the water was moving very slow. It will take you longer to get to the first water chute (which is the biggest), but there is a park you can stop at to reapply sunscreen and jump in from the steps or wall for a little bit in the shade. You park across the street from the retention pond/damn area and Wurstfest area. You then walk across the street and into the Wurstfest area and there is a sign to take you down to the check-in and tube storage area. We put our sunscreen on here because it was shaded and after we checked in. Then get your tubes, hop in the water and float. When you get to the end of the float you exit where the final exit stairs are and then need to walk about a block down the street to the designated Landa Falls area for shuttle pick up. This was really clear for us and the 15 other people who were also from Landa falls, but once one of us saw the sign we directed everyone to the correct waiting area. You will cross the street from the take out area and stand along the street very near to Schlitterbahn east. Overall great company and great experience!

Absolutely incredible experience at Landa Falls! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning natural beauty surrounding the area. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed for a fantastic day of tubing. The river itself was pristine, with crystal-clear waters that made for a refreshing and relaxing ride. The gentle currents ensured a leisurely float, allowing us to take in the breathtaking scenery at a perfect pace. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall enjoyment of our visit. Whether you're seeking adventure or simply a serene escape, Landa Falls is the place to be. Always a delightful experience. They are right on the entrance so it's easy to enter the river. The shuttle back has AC and runs frequently. Lots of stops to rest and swim. Took us about 3.5-4 hours! We will be back again next year. Happy floating!

Absolute favorite place to float the Comal River. Parking is never a hassle and they have easy access to the river. They are the longest and most enjoyable float.

A wonderful, peaceful and perfect place to spend with family and friends. We came down on April 24th. No crowds! Great time to come! We used Texas Tubes. Great service! Staff was very nice and our bus driver Mr. Gillcrease was fun to talk to! Have been many times and look forward to coming back! We also stayed in our RV in their park. Right on the river! Beautiful!

Great place to rent tubes. Parking was close and the price was reasonable. Float time is longer too. The staff were super nice and helpful. The ride back after float was prompt and comfortable. We will definitely come back here for our next float down the river.

We checked in around noon. Pumped our own tubes which saves you money and time - I suggest bringing your own tubes as it's convenient! At first we waited over an hour due to a shortage in tubes, but surprisingly that hour went by super fast with the company of mine and also the people around - very friendly! The river was nice. Some spots were mesmerizing. We stayed on the river for about four hours!! The tube chutes were a fun surprise. They had complimentary shuttle service in which we put our tubes in a bed of the van and hopped in!

We had a BLAST! We always ONLY use @LandaFalls they are the longest river ride on Comal. Sister had brought some friends who moved from Ohio, so it was their 1st time, and they had a great time. Our 3 year & 7 year old grandson's a an awesome time as well.

Prince Solms Park pre-dates Schlitterbahn New Braunfels by 3 years. So if you like simplicity and nature without all the man-made bells and whistles, this a decent place.

Great park to visit. The water does have a lot of algae in the river but it's beautiful. I definitely will not swim in the water. But many people do. It truly is pretty deep so make sure if you have kids with you they can swim.

Love the falls at the park. First time there recently and it is nicely laid out. Always wear a life jacket if your a poor swimmer my daughter is alive today because she wore one. The set up is simple and large. Careful going down the chutes so you don't fall out. Plenty of river bank to rest on and enjoy the weather. Best hours are after 7pm when only the locals come out to play.

This was my first tubing experience, and it was SO GREAT! loved the shoots, and then the relaxing float. The best of everything!

Come early and bring your patience. Parking is a nightmare but the float is worth it. We park one vehicle here and another at the end of the Public float exit so transport is easy. We paid $2 per person. No military discount and the Wristbands are strictly enforced by the police who are waiting at the inside of the entrance gate. Bring waterproof bags that can be tied down to you or your Tube and Make sure to leave lots of air so if you do lose it, it floats. I saw at least 3 people lose their car keys and cell phones while we floated.

Awesome Park and River float. We have been going to this place for years. Each year it is awesome and relaxing. For the most part everyone is respectful. Don’t forget the sunscreen and bug spray. Don’t drive stakes into the ground to hold down pop ups. There is underground tubing for an irrigation system. Get there early to get a picnic table, during the week they are free. On the weekends and holidays there is a fee. The canopy trees offer good shade. Life jackets are available for children’s use. The walk from the exit of the river float to the entrance is not that far, an easy walk. To pay for parking is simple if you download the App. Remember to bring an air pump to inflate your tubes. The bathrooms are fairly clean.

This place would be so much cooler if I didn’t feel like it was a financial racket designed to somehow charge people for parking AND entrance into a river. Beware, the parking is $21 and only lasts until 7pm plus the place is swarming with children and park rangers. My suggestion would be to find a much friendlier place to enter the river.

Be very careful on the tube chute. The beauty can be dangerous. Parking is $30+ between May 1st through Labor Day.

Great place to float and enjoy the cold refreshing water! You can bring your own toobs and put in at Prince Solms then float for a few hours to the last free exit and it is only a 10-15 walk back to prince solms!

Really nice, clean park. Lots of fun for the kids to enjoy. Equipment is well maintained to keep it looking new and functional. The splash pad is fun, kids enjoyed it. Bring water shoes of kids will go on playground and splash pads as it can get slippery.

This is a hidden park in New Braunfels. They have all kind of amenities for all ages of kids. You can walk by fish, multiple playgrounds, splash pad, restroom, facilities, walking trails, and a fossil digging area. I highly recommend this as a stop if you have a family.

What an awesome park to bring your dogs, kids, partner, etc. It’s currently a work in progress with them working on some kind of obstacle rope course. They do have a splash pad and plenty of covered picnic tables available for rentals or first come. Really nice that it sits on top of a hill and has plenty of native flora. Worth making a pit stop or picnic to enjoy nature.

Great Park. Offers different play zones, has great trails and offers great activities for kids and adults. Has fishing ponds! Vary beautiful during wildflower season.

Loved it! I wanted to take my boy to explore a new park for his birthday and we are glad we chose this park! I asked locals which park they recommended for taking my elder mother who uses a rollator walker and my fur baby for a nice day. Everyone raved about this place. The paved trail made it easy for my mom to glide around as long as she could manage. The trails seem to go on for a long distance but we didn't make it all the way around due to the humidity that day. There were plenty of people fishing in the fishing ponds and I read that you can rent a boat! I'm so impressed that the city provides a place to fish! I loved taking pics with my family in the garden and reading all about the natural habitat they built there. We went on Easter weekend and the gazebos were packed with families barbequing. We had to leave early due to heat wave but are looking forward to returning when the temps are cooler!

Lots of tables for eating. Our kiddos had a lot of fun in the playgrounds and in the Dino Dig area. Plenty of space to walk around, there was ample parking, and it was cool to see the city on top of the hill. My only complaint was that the vending machine wasn't operating when we visited.

This was my first time here and I'm so glad I went. They have a nature center, a classroom area, a huge sand pit that they call the "archeological" pit, a cute pollinator garden, trails, tons of wildflowers, bat boxes, informational plaques, a water and playground area for the kids, a pond with ducks and places to picnic.

I visited this lovely well kept park on Thursday, and enjoyed it so much! There are playscapes, pavilions, and splash pads in a part of the park, but I wanted to visit the two ponds. The park is open daily from 6 AM to 12 AM. It would be best to check with the office, should that schedule change. There are plenty of mature trees, and I noticed new trees have also been planted. Bluebonnets and other wildflowers are starting to bloom. It has a total of 2 miles of running and walking trails which were being used while I was there. There are also public bathrooms. The Staff were friendly, as well as other people in the park. I will definitely visit again!

Always a great place to let your young ones play in the splash pad, and it’s great for a nice walk with having wider sidewalks. The butterfly garden comes to life during the year, and having the ponds your sure capture a great photo or catch a fish if that’s what your looking for.

My kids love the splash pad! We've been going here for the last 7 years and it's been fun to see my kids enjoy this park at all their different ages and developments. In summer, it does get really hot. I mean brutally hot but thankfully there is the splash pad to cool everyone off!

The beer was cold and very good. The pizza was awesome. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beer selection was superb. The atmosphere was great. The live band was very good. The beer garden is awesome and excellently maintained. We recommend stopping by when you are in the area. We will definitely return to this establishment. Hope to see you there.

This brewry is amazing! The beer tasted great. Lots of choices, and they were all exceptional. There are plenty of places to order drinks from, and some bars have different options. If you like beer you will not leave this place disappointed. Great location and amazing beer. I cannot wait to come back.

One of the few breweries I can drink the whole menu. Lots of varieties and experiments. Probably around 40 on tap. The backyard Oasis vibe is wonderful. Top it off with Detroit style pizza next door and it's a slice of heaven. Will be a returning any chance I get.

A unique set up with tons of space in / out to roam / hang. The attached Pizza Kitchen is excellent. Gravel lot with 2 paved handicapped parking spaces. Low top tables throughout. Some of the best beer I've had period.

I've been coming here for years with my friends. I've seen this company expand every way possible, and I love to see the owners take pride in what they've created. Great craft beer, great food, and great environment. I will always recommend this place to people who don't know the area because it is a great hidden gem

Guadalupe Brewing Company was an amazing experience. The band was great, the beer was amazing, the pizza…. The pizza was PHENOMENAL! The service was just as amazing as well. It was our first time visiting and we will gladly be back. They are very pet friendly and family oriented. I do wish they had a play ground for kids to make it top notch however that’s just me being a mother of 2 toddlers. I highly recommend this brewery!!

We’ve been coming here several times a year for a few years now and we love it every time. This time we brought some of our friends along and they loved it too! The beer selection never disappoints and there is ALWAYS something new to try. You can also order food from the winery across the way. This time we ordered some desserts and they brought them over to us. One of the owners swung by to chat and show us around their garden. They are continually adding plants - beautiful place all the way around!

Went for the first time today with my husband and kids and we loved it! The beer was absolutely fantastic, specifically the chocolate stout and the macadamia coffee stout. We ordered a couple of pizzas that were great as well and the atmosphere was 10/10. We got to see some live music, which topped it all off. Can't wait to come back and bring visitors with us!

Really loved this brewery. First off there are 3 buildings along with a big garden in the middle with more seating. First building seemed to be the main where you can get most pours and merchandise, it did have seating. Next you walk into a beautiful garden with a lot of seating and beautiful plants all over. The second building had some restrooms and another tap wall. Very friendly staff! Near the back was the 3rd building/ kitchen. Got the margarita pizza and it was amazing! Tons of seating everywhere and family friendly. Beers were delish and my favorite was the bb mead. Will definitely stop by when I am in the area. Highly recommend this place!

Great beer - so many unique varieties and they set up the flights with all the details like the cinnamon rim or the toasted marshmallow on the s’mores stout! Pizza was excellent (I had Detroit-style and had leftovers) and the atmosphere is fabulous- so much to choose from. And the SERVICE is outstanding - everyone went above and beyond. If you are anywhere close by, this is an excellent stop. I just happened to be in town for work and this place caught my eye. Next time I come through I will be back!

Water the natural pool is clear and cold, it has a playground, a 2ft6in pool and a olympic pool that was closet today, you can bring your chairs,coolers we have a lot of fun

My kids and I love it here! We went on a Friday around 2:30 so getting in and parking wasn't bad. We had friends that went around 12 and said parking was hard to find and it took them a while to get in. Only the spring was open. My kids also loved the slide and swing. The kiddie slide, pool, and Olympic pool were all closed unfortunately.

I almost gave thia four stars instead of five but then realized that any minor complaints I had were far outweighed by how cheap it is to get in. The place is great. They let you bring in your own food and drinks (as long as there is no glass or alcohol) and chairs which I highly recommend because my only real complaint is that there aren't enough tables or benches. The spring fed lake is nice and cool and clean enough for a lake type experience accompanied by a rope swing, slide, qnd flotilla. And if you get too cold there you can hop over to the heated swimming pool which was practicality spotless when we went. The bathrooms have changing areas complete with showers and there are even vending machines and a kiddie area all included in one entrance fee. A great bargain and day out for the whole family!

Fun place to take the family! & worth the drive!! The water is cold which is perfect with this ugly summer heat! There are shaded areas to have a little picnic. Ice chests are allowed in so you can bring your own food. There’s plenty of stuff for the kids to do from a rope swing, swimming pools, treehouse & a 10 foot water slide! We went on a holiday so it was packed, but there was still room to relax & enjoy yourself without it feeling overwhelming. Our only regret is we didn’t ride the train that’s on property. Maybe next time! This place is reasonable in price & we had no problem finding parking… Highly recommend visiting this place! 👌

Overall our kids had a blast. They started off in the regular pool then they went down to the fresh spring water pool. Water was super cold but the kids took to it once they got accustomed. The slides and zip line were closed when we got there, but when they saw the weather was gonna be ok, they opened them up. 5 stars for that!! Forgot to add that I enjoyed watching the staff's attentiveness to all the people. And also enjoyed that the place will let you bring food and snacks. The pools and areas were we'll kept.

Years ago it used to be a nice place to drive to and take your family for a swim. It was honestly disgusting. We left after an hour, the entrance fee was only 6.00 but I found out why it was so cheap.

Great place to take the family! A couple of slides for the smaller kids, plus a slide and rope swing for the bigger kids and adults. Lots of room for the kids to swim around in nice cold water. They also have a playground and plenty of grassy areas to have a picnic or whatever. Well worth the $8 per adult and $7 per kid to get in. It was busy, but we got in fairly quickly and there was plenty of places to sit and relax.

First time visiting, and we are ready to go back. Fantastic place, clear COLD crisp water, and fun activities like the rope swing and huge slides. Lots of lifeguards. We went on a Friday and it was very busy but still room for everyone to swim. I recommend bringing life jackets for young swimmers. The kids' area has 2 fun slides, just not a huge area. There's just enough shade for everyone to have a small shady spot to enjoy lunch. I did notice 3 different people smoking cigarettes, even though it's stated on the rules it's not allowed. Also, please make sure your trash ends up IN the trash can.

Food was very good. This is the first time we have had German food since we left Germany. It was pretty close to what we had in Germany. The only thing we were disappointed about was they were out of all of their desserts. The hostess told us they usually sold out of everything by Friday so that's something to keep in mind. It must be pretty good if they sell out before the weekend! We'd go back here.

We got a variety of dishes via takeout. It was nice to try something different. The portion sizes are large and could easily share with two people. The sausage with potatoes topped with gravy was delish. The desserts are also very tasty and a hit with the kids. If you are in the area and want to try German food or something different, give them a try.

Another favorite for us. This place offers a fantastic selection of German beers and dishes. The wait staff at Alpine Haus are knowledgeable about the menu and beer offerings on top of that, they are also incredibly friendly and attentive. Their hospitality adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience. The Alpine Haus never fails to impress with its consistently delicious German fare, delightful ambiance, and top-notch service.

Phenomenal dinner, excellent customer service and best brats I’ve had in New Braunfels. Everything I tasted was made with love and heavenly: the sausage, veal schnitzel, sauerkraut, purple cabbage, potato dumpling. I asked and was given pickle slices that were out of this world. Try the sausage sampler, enjoy with a great bottle of wine. Grab a reservation and say hi to Steve!!

Every single aspect of our dining experience was great. Amazing food, great beer selection, really nice atmosphere, and even a really good accordion player. We're new to town and my wife chose this as the place to go for her birthday dinner. We will most definitely be back and would recommend this place to anyone. It was a great experience for our first German food try! Definitely a different style of food than what we were used to! Prices are definitely on the high side.

Delicious start to my Saturday. What a fabulous place. Wonderful setting, great service. Delicious food. Plenty of wine and beer selections. Too many food options to choose from it made it hard to decide. We chose the fried Brie which was a delight especially with the rye bread and butter. I had the Schnitzel, veal with mushroom gravy and my husband opted for the Rinder Goulash.

Exceptionally friendly staff. And delicious food. First time having an authentic German meal. I grew up by a veal farm but never had it until eating here. Definitely would recommend and if I’m ever back in the area I will revisit.

A quaint place with amazing service and food. Slightly upscale, but still approachable German cuisine. It was Saturday, so I don't know if they always have a Polka playing accordionist, but it was a nice surprise. They bring you a basket of marbled rye bread for the table. I had the Jaeger Sccnitzel with German potato salad and red cabbage. I also had Roasted Garlic soup that came with the meal as well. All of it excellent! I will be going back again to try more off the menu!

German food has flavor. This places proves that. Cannot say enough good. Great service, crew was delightful and helpful as we decided what to eat. Have not even much German but I will be from here on out. Just can't go wrong from appetizer, main course to dessert. A must go with your family while dinning in New Braunfels.

Simple excellence! The staff is great and very gracious to a couple wearing silly Christmas t-shirts. The food is simple German but very well done. The potato dumplings are the best we have had. The sausage sampler with mustard and cheese really hits the spot. The pretzel with mustard and cheese is so delicate without any cheese to it - unlike any I've ever had. It must be fresh. We will try to visit every time we are in town! Oh! Wait! The beer! Try the Trapp! (Trappistes Rochafort) Beer Advocate scored it 100!

From the ambience down to dessert every detail exceeded my expectations!! If You find yourself in San Marcos Or New Braunfels you MUST check out the Alpine Haus !!! What a great menu! Great service and an amazing atmosphere with a totally cool layout. Now we went in November so we were totally comfortable. We got there on a Tuesday at 2 PM and still had to wait. I can’t believe what it would be like in season at moon! The jalapeño margarita was the BOMB! I can’t believe this drink isn’t everywhere. Cajun spice on the rim and fresh jalapeños in the drink. Supreme!

It's a super cute place to eat. The food was wonderful. Outside and inside seating. Nice views, waitstaff was polite and prompt. The onion rings were HUGE! The torpedo appetizers were delicious but more spice than I could handle. The hamburgers were large enough to fill up a grown man. The non alcoholic smoothies were so delicious and sweet! The kids' menu is verbally told to parents. I found that to be kind of odd. Overall, I'm very pleased with the visit.

It’s rare that I give 5 stars to a restaurant but this place deserved it. Its location is perfect with the river right next to it and the trees surrounding the area. The service was fantastic, very knowledgeable of the menu/specials and very attentive. The food was delicious with good flavors. Would recommend the chopped steak and the green beans were so good.

First time eating here! There was a mishap with our table, but they fixed it quickly! (Loved the customer service) Seth our waiter he was AWESOME. Drinks never got empty. The food was good my husband loved the onion rings, I loved the spinach dip I ended up ordering 2 that’s how good it was! (Make sure you try it) My burger wasn’t cooked all the way through they fixed that with the quickness & gave some of their fries to try (which were good) The bathrooms were a bit different, Overall we loved the restaurant.

Literally one of the prettiest places I’ve ever dined at! Service was amazing, a cohesive staff from greeting, seating and serving. I genuinely have no complaints and the food is 100% worthy of claiming your next meal. Advice: ask to be seated at the large open windows!

Meal of the year! I had looked up top 10 chickens fried steaks for the great state of Texas, short version it brought us here and I'm glad it did! Upon arrival we were greeted with so many friendly hosts, the place was an amazing blend of history and modern rustic somehow. Excellent outdoor views and seating. Easily could go here to not eat. Now the food, I knew what I came for but wow many great options on the menu made it tougher than I thought. So we did appetizers! Huge portions of amazing chips and dip all fresh and greatly done, plus onion rings were Texas sized, definition of huge for sure! Main event was lightly battered like the rings. We were so full we took dessert to go which was also amazing. I can't even try to give a bad comment because it was all so good from host to service to ambience to satisfaction. Go here! Oh, also parking we got lucky as there was a new years event nearby but it was busy around for that. Id suggest going early if concerned about that.

I ordered this salad without cheese, it’s the chicken salad with balsamic dressing- a great option for a hot day. It tasted good and was light, refreshing, and filling. Our waiter was attentive and filled glasses as soon as they were halfway empty - great service here!! If you’re visiting from a cooler climate, and sensitive to hot weather, I would not recommend coming here as it’s not air conditioned and there is only outdoor seating. Even the indoor seating at this location is basically outdoor seating with a roof. I would call and order ahead so you do not have to wait to be seated, although the wait was not bad. For parking, this area was busy- I believe we parked in a dirt parking lot nearby ( about a 6 minute walk) from the actual restaurant.

Delicious! It's one of the best salads I've ever had. I also had a couple of onion rings. Those were pretty delicious, too. Service was superb! Atmosphere... beautiful! I recommend checking this place out if you haven't already!

We visited on Saturday night on Labor Day weekend, so there was quite a wait. We waited for about an hour, but there was a nice open area to hang out in. They also had some drinks for sale and a bathroom in that area. It was quite a peaceful wait. I was honestly not expecting what the restaurant was like. It is apparently made from the ruins of an old cotton mill. Therefore, seating is outside. The food and atmosphere were great! I had the Fresh Trout, which had a really good seasoning on it. My husband had the ribs, which were very tender and had a good sauce. Their Bloody Mary was also very good! It's definitely a place I would want to go again, but maybe not on a holiday weekend. We did notice that the poor waiters had to put up with a lot of people camping out at tables long after they were done, with so many people waiting for a table.

Excellent food and service. And lovely atmosphere. I had the fire roasted chicken and it was very moist and flavorful. My friend ordered the ribs and they said they were amazing, very tender and tasty. And the veggies… crisp tender and tasty.

I celebrated Texas Independence Day at the Gristmill yesterday by ordering the $18.88 T Bone steak dinner. I chose the mashed potatoes and green beans for my sides. My steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I didn't even consider steak sauce it was so good! The sides didn't disappoint either, especially the mashed potatoes and cream gravy. Makayla was my server and she exceeded my expectations by offering me a water to go. I eat at the Gristmill at least once a month and that was a first! She set the bar high and made my day.

I don’t understand the hype at all. This place has no AC in the entire restaurant we were told. It was SO HOT. Heavy fried foods, soups and sandwiches aren’t appetizing or appealing while sweating. I was so hot I didn’t even want to eat anymore. And of course flies come in since everything is open. We ordered Ribs with mashed potatoes, cheeseburger, fried catfish, queso burger, chicken Cesar salad, and onion rings for appetizer. Nothing here I’d go back for, mediocre really. The fries are not included with the $10+ burger and were another $5 for a side of them and they aren’t even fries, they are slices of potato fried - so some are crispy and some are too crispy and some are soggy. The chicken Ceasar salad isn’t presented nicely with a grilled chicken breast on top instead the little bit of chicken you get is chopped so tiny and tossed in the lettuce with some sort of homemade crouton, and the pico - I’m so glad I asked for on the side did not belong anywhere near this salad. They don’t cut out the tough part of the Romain spines so you get huge hard pieces of lettuce that I had to fish out. My daughters fried catfish tasted weird, the ribs are nothing special but we’re tender, burgers undercooked to our request.

Over rated spot for the map here. This one has one hundred percent the feel of tourist/party attraction. The beer garden area was beet because there was live music and a nice green area for all the kiddos to run around together and play. The hostess girls were inviting and gave us a pretty accurate wait time expectancy. We chose to sit on the back patio to have a view of the river… well there is not a view of the river. There was tons of bugs that not only swarmed us but kept getting in our drinks and food. Also they seem to be way under staffed because although our waiter was good he was running all over the place. We started making sure we asked for anything possible because we were not sure when we would see him again. Our food took almost an hour. It was steaming hot and they have runners but wow be ready to spends extra time here. Below is our food which was good but way over priced. Onion rings were the regular and could definitely be cut one more time for fitting in your mouth better. Another bucket list visit that’s a one and done!

The beautiful grounds, amazing building, and the customer service alone would bring us back up The Gristmill. The food was fantastic too! We loved everything we tried. Don’t miss out on the onion rings. They are so so good and definitely live up to the hype! I had the chicken fried chicken and it was so juicy and tender! My boys both had the Grist burger and loved the spicy queso. My daughter had the pulled pork sandwich and really enjoyed it. My husband had the chicken fried steak—which I tried too and it was awesome! We were too full for dessert but I look forward to next time.

There is something mystical about a restaurant older than time still operating and going strong even in this economy. I first visited the Grist Mill around 1988 and fell in love with the ambiance. It is a concoction of modern-day and historical amenities set in a colonial Texas stone fortress. We'll, at least that's what if feels like. The food has been delicious since I was a child and for over 20 years and numerous visits, it has not disappointed.

Visited the Grismill today to celebrate a couple of birthdays. We found parking in the large parking lot down the street from the restaurant. We were quickly greeted by the receptionist. We asked for a table by the river, which they were able to accommodate and were seated immediately at table 87. Our server, Patrick, took care of us during our dining experience. He was attentive, courteous, and helpful on order selections. We started with a beer and quart of Sangria, along with waters and chips and queso. Three in our party ordered the chicken fried chicken, with mash potatoes. One ordered the cat fish, and one ordered a bacon burger. All the food was good. The only thing that is unpredictable was the weather. It was 93 degrees today, which is unseasonably warm for late September, and on days like this, there was very little breeze anywhere. Possibly have some misters or oscillating fans for the tables on the lower decks. Thanks for having umbrellas to provide shade. I'm sure and hope your experience will be a nice as ours.

This place was beautiful and staff was on the spot. Did the online waitlist and pretty much went straight to the table. Outside seating as it was in the side of the hillside with the rustic style and natural views that added to the experience. Steak was cooked to perfection, round steak fries were great though in my mind I expected chip by the look vs fries, and the Jack Daniel's pecan pie is a must.. perfect texture and taste with the hint of Jack Daniel's taste not overpowering the delicious pecan taste.

Great location in a wonderful small town. Yay good, terrific bloody Mary, and fantastic jalapeno poppers. Be warned though, the facility is not ADA friendly with many steps, closed doors, and uneven floors. Staff were young and some helped my elderly parents but others outright refused. While I still recommend visiting, management should increase their training on helping the elderly.

This was an amazing place. I highly recommend it if you do not mind waiting. The food was great and the atmosphere was so pretty at night with the lights. I am going back definitely. I got a burger and fries but they were good and my friend got the chicken fried steak. Very good! The wait was 40 minutes for a table but it flew by because of the guitarist playing music.

We are here around 8:30 am on a Wednesday. Called on our way to get on the waitlist as I’d seen that suggested from others. This particular day and time we could have gotten sat immediately so the call ahead was not necessary but hey, better safe than sorry! They only serve eggs Benedict on the weekends and currently they are closed on Saturday so that leaves 1 day to get this item, big fat bummer as many reviews reference this item and I was hoping to try it . Plan B - I got the coastal dish and my husband got the grilled Banana Bread. My dish was delicious!! The shrimp were huge and plentiful (I think 5) The lobster sauce was delightful and seasoned perfect, no need for additional salt! Bravo chef! It does come with a side of buttered toast but I HAD to try a biscuit. It looked dry but alas it was so moist and flavorful that I didn’t even butter it. Now my husbands meal was not so glamorous. First off it was cold and dry. I encouraged him to send it back and order something different but that’s not his style. He said it was edible with a ton of syrup. 🤦‍♀️ He said his bacon was great though! I did take a bite of the banana bread and I didn’t think it was as dry as he thought it was however it WAS lacking in flavor in my opinion. Some reviews mentioned getting free muffins before their food arrived. I’m guessing they only do this when there’s a wait so we didn’t experience that. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. Overall if you’ve never been here, give it a try!

This is a great place to stop if you are driving from San Antonio back to the DFW area. We stopped today for breakfast on our way home. Very clean, welcoming country atmosphere. I asked for the avocado toast and my husband for the country breakfast. Both dishes were freshly cooked and delicious! Kelly was our server and he was very attentive and helpful. This restaurant is definitely on our must stop places from now on! A great way to start our day!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! BEST BREAKFAST IN TOWN Becka was my server, 100 percent perfect service! Stopped here for breakfast on the way to the lake to fish. Arrived at 920am the said 35 minute wait. Was seated and order taken at 945am. Fantastic attitude from all the employees. Fabulous food. I had Cafe breakfast. Food was cooked to perfection. I will be back to try the migas. I was seated in the small room on the right. They bring out coffee cake for starters, soft and flaking and rich in flavor. Not over sweet. Becka was a perfect server! I giver her 5 stars alone! Everyone was in great spirits and full of smiles!

Had a late breakfast of pancakes, sausage , eggs and potatoes. Even though the place was packed, I seated within 20 min. Food was hot fresh and server was attentive. Loved their coffee. Pancakes were large and fluffly very tasty. Eggs were perfectly cooked. Potatoes were great, only thing is I wish they had salsa. Loved it will come back.

The Coastal Breakfast with the Lobster Sauce was excellent! Highly reccomend. The deconstructed fruit parfait was nice. Also had fried green zucchini. The wait staff reccomended all the food and it was excellent. Very attentive and great service. Will be back!

Great tasty food. Chicken fried steak was somewhat schnitzel style that was well seasoned and tender. Gravy, served on the side in a cup for dipping, was the perfect amount for the steak with some leftover for my biscuits which were soft and pillowy. The quiche was moist and creamy and the fruit cup was beautifully presented. Nice clean environment with great, fast service. The coffee here is really good. Not sure what they are brewing but it's tasty! If you're in New Braunfels give this place a try! You won't be disappointed!

The food and coffee here are absolutely amazing. The chicken and dumplings and fried green tomatoes are spectacular. The best sweet potato casserole ever! Highly recommend!!!!!

Breakfast with our party of 8 was accommodated perfectly. Shout out to Rebekah--friendly and super attentive. We were pleasantly surprised to find Saturday morning is complimentary coffee cake day, and it was delicious! Portions were generous and those who had the Chicken Fried Steak LOVED it!

Wonderful place with friendly atmosphere and very tasty food. Avocado toast and fried green tomatoes were absolutely amazing. Fresh and crispy toast with a lot of green stuff and very yummy tomatoes. It's absolutely worth to wait 10-15 minutes for a table.

This restaurant takes normal Cafe food to another level. We started our meal with fried green tomatoes. They were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I had the meatloaf. Don't let the peach tomato sauce turn you away from this dish. The sweet accent of the peach with the meatloaf is very clever. The sides were just as good. Real mashed potatoes, green beans and cornbread stuffing. My husband enjoyed his fried fish, but he thought the real star of his lunch was the black eyed peas. He said he could have just eaten a big bowl of the peas with cornbread. The decor was lovely and the service was great!

The food is delicious and fresh. The presentation is beautiful! The service was excellent, and Jonathan was friendly and very attentive. We enjoyed fried green tomatoes and the best buttermilk pie we have ever had.

As it was quite busy and our waitress had a lots of tables so it was a little wait to order but the food came out fast and hot. We had appetizers, which were delicious the and 2 egg dishes. Only compliant was I wished the shirred eggs come out pretty much hard boiled. Next time I'll try a different type of eggs. The management did offer to get something else which was a plus.

We are traveling and googled this restaurant. We were so pleased with the friendly atmosphere, starting with the greeters at the entrance to our hostess Marci and the chef who made us some fantastic delicious food. If ever in the area, we will be back.

Today was our first time trying buttermilk Cafe, and we were not disappointed in the slightest. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The red skin breakfast potatoes were very flavorful, they were crispy on the edges and super soft inside. The bacon was perfectly to my liking, not super crispy but not too soft either. The biscuits and the sausage gravy were absolutely divine. The pancakes were soft and fluffy and delicious. The grits were cooked perfectly, and with a little butter salt and pepper they were delicious. And I'm really glad I talked myself into ordering the cinnamon roll, it was so soft and fluffy, the cream cheese icing on top was absolutely sinful, I didn't finish two bites of it and I felt like it was a crime to leave it behind. This may be an establishment we have to visit more in the future.

My initial experience at this cozy restaurant far exceeded my hopes. Upon entering, the pleasant decor and accommodating team set the tone for an outstanding culinary adventure. Furthermore, their commitment to quality was evident through each component of my delectable breakfast: from golden brown French toast adorned with fruit, meticulously arranged eggs, and a duo of brunch cocktails tailored specifically to satisfy even the most discerning palate.

Food was extremely good and service was amazing!!! I highly recommend this place to eat with your family. I got the Country Fried Steak with Mac and Cheese, French Fries, and Mashed Potatoes.. Mashed were really creamy, Mac and Cheese had a nice cheese pull and tasted amazing, French were crispy and had a good amount of Seasoning, and finally the Country Fried Steak was crispy and had good flavor.

This place is like a traditional home made Country breakfast restaurant 😋 We had the Country fried steak eggs Biscuits & gravy coffee with coffee I highly recommend this place

Had an outstanding breakfast with my daughter. After 12 years of hating grits, the ones here got me to liking them again. Everything was great.

After touring New Braunfels on foot, we were looking for a good spot to eat and walked over to this restaurant that we had noticed because of its ample outdoor seating on a beautiful patio. We had our pupper with us and they were super accommodating. It was warm when we visited and super lovely out on the patio, but they appear to have heaters built-in, and some communal shawls hanging on a rack so it would probably even be nice in the winter. The service was great and so was the food. We started off with the Fried Brie. It was amazing. I can't complain about too much cheese, but we loaded up the granny smith apples and toast points that it came with and there was still plenty of cheese left over. That is the best kind of problem to have. A quick side note: they put the butter for the complimentary dinner rolls in the basket with the bread, so the heat from the rolls softens the butter. An elegant solution to the frozen butter so common at restaurants. For our main courses, we got the Three Salad Sampler and the Mixed Grill. We loved both of them. The Three Salads was only one leaf-type salad and the other two were chicken salad-like, which surprised us a little. Every part of the Mixed Grill was tasty, with the poblano bacon-wrapped chicken being a particular stand-out, and let you sample many different entrees in one. The horseradish and Dijon/Merlot sauces came together in a single cup, which was another surprise, but it worked well. This is a worthy addition to the growing list of excellent restaurants to be found in downtown New Braunfels.

This place was 5 stars on ambience and food. 3 on service because they couldn’t get their act together for the Sunday lunch crowd. We waited way longer than they said, but it was on a lovely patio with a glass of wine from the bar, so we can’t complain too much. But when we finally got seated, the appetizers were phenomenal. We split the mixed grill, and it was good, too.

The charcuterie board was OK; we’ve had better and we’ve had worse at other restaurants. It was would not be my first pick. However, the crab cakes were very good and would be the better option. The steak was excellent and cooked to the desired texture. Their veggie sandwich was a tasty option for those looking for a meatless entree. The southern pecan cheesecake and key lime dessert were good comfort treats to end the night. The service was as great but the lighting is rather dark inside; it was hard to read the menu. It is definitely worth a visit.

This was a great experience. Brought my Corazon here for his birthday dinner. It was real nice. Our waiter Nick made us feel very comfortable and was so kind. A memorable one. Lovely place!

Superb service and excellent food. I had the lamburger with the house salad and in-house Gorgonzola dressing. She had the Turkey sandwich with the creamy sweet potato soup, she states both were delicious. The soup was a big hit. Everything on my plate was crafted in-house and was delicious. So far the best coffee in Texas. Our server, Kelly was an absolute charm.

First experience here and not disappointed. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and seating was available. They have a kids menu which was perfect since I had my 8 year old with me. $5.95 for chicken strips was extremely fair price. Granted the other dishes were a little more pricey the quality of the dishes was worth every penny. The ambiance here is perfect for a date night. I’m looking forward to visiting again next time I’m in new Braunfels.

Nice hidden gem. There’s a parking lot where you park, then walk down the alleyway on the left to get to front door and outdoor seating. It’s a very cute outdoor hangout. There’s a beer and wine bar outside too so that was nice and convenient. We sat inside for dinner. I have the salmon sandwich, which was fully cooked and was surprised it was nice and moist -delicious! They were busy but we had good food and service so I enjoyed it as first time experience. Would go back again.

Nice atmosphere and excellent service. Ice tea was good, side salad was good. Fresh green beans were hard and crunchy. To me that’s undercooked and my wife agreed. The French fries were delicious. My disappointment was with the chicken fried steak. It was tougher than I expected to get from a place so highly recommended. I’ve had a lot better nearby for less. Someone posted a lunch menu, but they don’t have one. Waiter said that’s not theirs, so I clicked the notify.

Great restaurant tucked in off the main road. There’s no reservation so expect to wait on the weekend, but they do have an outside bar to order from while you wait. Food was good but that charcuterie board was a 10/10, highly recommend. Note: they do not serve liquor but have a nice selection of wine and beer. I would say it’s an experience worth trying out.

It was good... very good! The atmosphere is inviting and odd. But I really enjoyed it. It's almost like being in someone's communal space at a country club. I can't place my finger exactly on how the place feels... so I will let it unfurl within me for a few. The good was the best part which is a good thing! Split some artichoke dip, a burger, and a salmon sandwich with my niece and all were awesome! Gonna go again... I gotta get the feeling really down for this.

I had been wanting to try Huisache for a long time and while everything was pretty good, nothing really blew us away either. The service was fantastic and the space has a nice feel. The menu is a trip back in time though and could use a refresh in my opinion. However, judging by the 30 minute wait to be seated, they certainly seem to be meeting a need. I'll note one exception to what I said above. The banana pudding was the best I've ever had anywhere. We will go back and try other dishes.

This was such an experience! The amazing food, the service and the atmosphere came together to make this dinner so enjoyable. I had the chopped steak covered with cheese and batter fried jalapenos. I really like the lights strung across the outdoor area, quaint seating and beautiful plants. Can't wait to check out the fried brie appetizer next time. Will definitely be back! The parking is tight in front, but across the street out back is a larger parking lot with plenty of space. That way you get to walk through the back garden area too.

Exceptional! Everything was awesome. This place is super cute. We sat on the patio and had a drink and the chips and 3 salsas. The red/spicy (not too spicy) and black bean salsas were very good. The green tomatillo salsa was so good I would have finished it with a spoon of we ran out of chips. Then we went inside to share the pork medallions. They were fantastic. Tender, tasty, the baby potatoes and green beans that accompanied the pork were just as awesome. I almost forgot the bread and butter and Cesar Salad, they were as delicious as everything else. Service was friendly and on point. I can't overemphasize how adorable the entire location is.

Cute little spot. I had the grilled chicken Yucatan, rice and chicken were great, the green beans were a bit too al dente for my liking. The waiter was nice, though, he lied about a new bottle after he broke the cork off into mine. Cork bits in every other sip.

First time here and I loved it. The wine bar outside is perfect. We are out there drinking our wine while we waited for our table. The wait was estimated perfectly also. We had the Fried Brie while waiting and it was delicious. I had the Basil Chicken and my friend had the Mix & Match and he for the Quail and beef medallions. We both enjoyed our dishes and had to tap out and took to go plates. They serve good size portions.

This place is a special charm. From the moment you walk up you can feel the charming atmosphere. Such an inviting outdoor Oasis that tells of the great history of the city. Clean, beautiful and historic. As you walk in the charm just continues to follow. The building is well kept, very clean and full of history. The staff is welcoming, friendly and attentive. And even if all that wasn't so, the food is beyond amazing and worth experiencing. Delicious is an understatement. All the different meals were exceptionally tasteful. Everything was good. This has become our absolute favorite spot. From the experience of the charmful atmosphere to the satisfaction of a deliciously prepared meal, you will be glad you tried this restaurant.

Loved it! The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and felt like a Texas-sized hug 🤗 I couldn’t say the food was exactly kid friendly bc the only thing a kid would like would be a burger or the taco I ordered. But even my taco was more of a mature taste bc of feta cheese & charred meat. Mimi liked her salad but we didn’t vibe with the dressing The waitress gave us lots of info and got us samples too

As a long time patron of The Gristmill, we were excited to try this place. It did not disappoint! Service was exceptional and the food was delicious. We tried the Ribeye, Filet, and Pork Tenderloin. My Ribeye had a pretty big fat cap but still tasted great. Bloody Mary was also decent. I did feel the drinks were a bit pricey though. Sides were tasty and the creme brulee was delightful. We will definitely return.

We’ve never had a bad dining experience here. The service is always great here. The food is warm, hearty and delicious. You can sit outside and enjoy the view of the Guadalupe River, as well. It is a great place to relax and take a break from shopping and enjoy some good, comfort food.

Can’t go wrong here! First time visiting Gruene and chose this restaurant. Small town vibe with historical feel. Very welcoming easy going vibe on Sunday afternoon 11:30 am. Best time before the rush. Got an outside table overlooking the Guadalupe River! Nice cool breeze and the service n food fantabolous! And the prices are great! Be hungry when you go because you will get large portions! Lunch Dinner all the same!

This place is quite good. I would highly recommend the pork chops they are enormous. The food is all fresh and delicious. Also recommend the real made in house Cheese Sticks. The atmosphere is something to behold whether you sit with the river view or in the old barn. The service is prompt and courteous and the kitchen knows what they are doing. Cannot wait to return!

We came here for my sister’s birthday celebration. This place has nice little vibe to it. The staff was courteous and attentive. The food myself and my son ordered was great. I had the chicken fried chicken, and my son had a burger. However, the only complaint was my husband’s fish and chips came out a bit soggy and uncooked.

During my visit today, I had a Bloody Mary and the Shrimp & Grits. Both were excellent. The atmosphere was rustic, the view of the river was very nice and the presentation of both the drink and food was perfect. My only feedback would be that the meal was over salted. This may have been a one-off and by no means would stop me from ordering it again. As you can see by my plate.

I really enjoyed my birthday celebration with the family here. Food pricing was really reasonable. I can't say the same thing about the spirits at the bar. One round for 2, 50.oo, but they did have a descent selection to choose from.

Definitely one restaurant I love to frequent while in Gruene, Tx. The atmosphere of this restaurant is a very relaxing one. Has a cozy large cabin home in the woods feel to it. Makes me feel right at home...lol. The most special part is absolutely the food. I started off with the shrimp wontons appetizer and it is to die for. The salads are also super fresh and tasty. When I visit, I usually get the Shrimp & Grits, Chicken Fried Chicken, Meatloaf, or the Chicken Guadalupe. Those are my favorite menu items. All are very very delicious. The Happy Hour Old Fashioned is a major bonus. The servers were attentive and courteous. I super highly recommend you try Gruene River Grill, especially if you're out on a special date.

Great food. A little pricey, but they have lunch specials online only so make sure to have a QR reader. Our server made us feel a rushed and as if our table wasn’t a priority. Other than that, scenic views of the river and a lovely dimmed dining area on the inside make for an enjoyable experience.

We’ve been here many times, but have never reviewed them before. Every time we eat and/or drink at GRG, we absolutely love it! The service is usually very good! My go to is the Balsamic Ribeye Steak!! The portion is generous and the flavor is awesome! The balsamic glaze is something I never thought I would like, but holy cow is it good!! My wife usually gets the meatloaf as she says it’s the best meatloaf (besides hers) that she’s had! Her go to bar drink is the Mexican Martini with Tito’s and mine is The Rattler Margarita. Both are fantastic!! The atmosphere of the restaurant is typical Gruene…..fun and relaxed. Highly suggest this when in Gruene!!

The food was ok, not the best but not the worse. It seemed to be pretty pricey 130$ for an appetizer, two meals, three mixed drinks, two beers, & tip. Maybe we just don’t normally order that much, but my wife doesn’t drink much & didn’t feel anything after the three drinks. The atmosphere was nice & no wait, but we we were there around 4p. We loved the old building & it wasn’t too hot even though it was over 100 outside.

This place always has a line, come early. Service was slow even though we came early. We weren't served until 45 minutes after we were seated. Our waitress forgot my iced tea, and I had to reorder it. She got queso sauce on the plate of my son's chocolate cake and still served it like that. I'm sure, like everywhere else they are short staffed. Beyond all of the little hiccups, the food is beyond excellent and it is our restaurant of choice for birthdays. We're always going to come back for the food, but wow, prices are crazy and staff must be short.

Wife and I had a great dinner here tonight. First up, the ambiance is just lovely, and we were early enough to be seated with a perfect river view. She had the Ranch Water and I had an Old Fashioned and they were both quite tasty. We aimed for lighter fare given our earlier meals. She had the Chicken Guadalupe and I got the Chicken Piccata. Both of us subbed our mashed taters for rice, which turned out great. Highly recommend doing that. I'm sure their mashed taters are great and all but the rice completed both dishes perfectly. Our server Dylan didn't bat an eye at the request and did a great job.

My first time there and I really enjoyed it. We sat out on the deck and looked down on the river. I had the chicken fried chicken and it tasted great. For the type of place it is and being a popular place on the river, I think the prices are pretty good. My dish was $14. Food git to us quickly and the server was attentive. This was an early dinner we had.

Stopped by on a Sunday as we were leaving New Braunfels. You could tell it was a popular spot as the parking lot was packed and the reviews are pretty good. Overall, we got attended pretty quickly and the food and drinks were delicious! If you’re in the area, make this a stop! The decor inside is pretty beautiful as well. It was far too hot to sit outside, but it also looked pretty nice.

Well this is a lovely little gem of a spot. When it comes to hipster, craft beer spots this one is so good it leaves the hipsters behind. I mean, there were some there, but mostly just a bunch of folks who love great beer, great food, and great service. Decor is fabulous and themed. Impressive selection of beers on tap to choose from. Excellent and professional staff. Even more impressive because they were all so young and still delivered. Food was great. Bathrooms were spotless. Even had a peek at the kitchen which was spic and span clean. Beer was excellent. Totally going back.

I love this place! It was a great experience from start to finish. Welcoming staff, attentive servers, and seriously delicious food. There is a reason it was packed in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday, but don't let that deter you. I recommend the pink drink, the mac & cheese, the burgers and fries, but literally everything we ordered was good.

Really delicious craft burgers and sides. The poutine in particular was really good, hard to find it down here. Our service was very fast and friendly as well. There's also a decent lineup of drinks including flights. It does get pretty busy, so plan ahead if you have a larger party and are coming during a rush time. I would definitely come back if I was in town!

When we got to Muck and Fuss we were told a 25 minute wait but the team found a way to get us in within minutes. We sat on the exterior of the building under the awnings. Even in the 100 degree heat this was not bad but the fans were blowing rather strong to keep the temperature bearable. This was not terrible but it did blow our small family members papers around and we had to weigh them down with the salt and pepper shakers. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. My wife ordered the Hawaiian Burger with onion rings. The onion rings were some of the best that we have had. They were made with red onions that gave them a slightly sweet flavor. My chicken sandwich was exactly what I wanted and tasted fantastic. One of our other table mates had the breakfast burger and both her and my wife said they were some of the best burgers they have had

Stopped in here for dinner after a day at Schlitterbahn. There was about a 45 minute wait. They had a nice patio area, but the day we were here it was too hot to sit outside. Honestly inside, however, it was still pretty warm but it’s not their fault - just a really hot day and lots of in and out traffic. While we waited for our table, we were entertained by some live music on the patio. Once we were sad, our server was excellent. she had good recommendations. The beer selection was really large, with mostly craft style beers from Texas. lots of interesting, burger, selections, and they also have some interesting french fry selections. You have the option to upgrade your french fries for some of their “fancy fries” which we did. Not an inexpensive place to eat, but we felt like overall it was good value. The portions were huge and could easily be shared.

If you are looking for a new fun, exciting and hidden restaurant this place is a must stop. The staff are super friendly and so attentive to your needs. The food selection is so hard to choose because everything is delicious. Also love that this place is animal friendly!

The burgers here are top notch and definitely delicious. The wait can be long so come early or be prepared to wait. Drinks are good. The atmosphere is really nice, the only complaint I’ve had is inside the fan makes a flashing effect from the lights above it, so keep that in mind if it would bother you. The staff is great and friendly.

First time visit, won't be our last. Our server was awesome. We asked her for recommendations and tried a couple. Wow! The Scape Goat and Diablo burgers were delicious! Fries were hot and crispy, seasoned beautifully. This place filled up fast and didn't have an empty seat within the first hour of opening. We look forward to our next visit. As you can see, the burgers are well presented. We came looking for a different burger and we found it at Muck & Fuss. Each burger ordered tasted great and was really juicy. We ordered two All American burgers and a Breakfast burger. My favorite was the Cola drink, it’s not coke but Cola and it’s made with real pure cane sugar so yum! The service was also excellent and very friendly, but that’s just the Texas way! Definitely will be coming back!!!

We decided to give this place a try as we’d been on the River for a few hours and had built up a big appetite. I’m keep this very simple, the food was delicious, the selection of craft beer was impressive, overall a great place to grab a bite and drinks after floating the River. Trust me it won’t disappoint, also the service was outstanding.

Nice place for lunch. We ordered the Pour Over w/fries (comes with a small bowl of a cheese sauce, really good!) & North Carolina burger w/salad (chili was good). Plus the order of onion rings, which were really good. Both burgers are made with homemade buns, a plus! Finally, a refreshing margarita. We sat inside because of this heat, but the outside dining area would be nice in cooler weather. $$

Absolutely beautiful place. I've been meaning to try it and kept putting it off, but now that I've been I will definitely be back. I don't eat red meat and they had so many options for me. I also don't drink but they have tons of draft beer options as well as craft sodas. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries and an appetizer of chips and salsa. Bonus point, their ranch was spot on. It's a little pricey but well worth it.

This was absolutely amazing food. The fussy five (the dip) was amazing, the corn an unexpected win, and I was floored with how great it was. The drink was very heavy handed and tasty, and the travvy patty was the show stopper. I understand the fantastic reviews and look forward to coming again. The Mac and cheese and fries were great as well, no complaints.

All in all the food was good. My burger was a bit on the dry side. My husband really enjoyed his coffee beer (I think it was called breakfast beer)

The Onion Rings are great! The burgers are pretty good too just need a little more seasoning and heat for me. Service was not bad and we were seating really quickly even though they said 20-30 minutes was only like 5 minutes. If you enjoy beer this place has a lot of choices. Definitely worth checking out!

The atmosphere was good and the service was quick! It was super busy when I went I waited about 30 min to be seated and the area was a little small and cramped like, but again it was a Saturday and it was super busy. The food was great and tasted delicioussss, chips and queso was our starter, Road crossing tacos was ordered and the side was homemade jalapeño tater tots(I don’t like spicy and these weren’t spicy at all very delicious), I ordered the All American Burger no pickles or onions I added bacon and an over medium egg and my meat was cooked well, just like I asked it was perfect. My side was a Ceaser salad, Everything tasted sooo delicious! The price was normal compared to any other place you would go and you do get what you pay for meaning the portions were worth the price, definitely would go again!

Food was amazing. The staff were energetic and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed and social. I highly recommend Muck & Fuss. Had the spicy juicy Lucy, truffle fries, and a cheesecake shake. Beer selection was impressive even though I had to pass on drinks this time around.

First off. This place is the bomb !! Avery is very friendly. And my Big Dog,( Mr Cooper). The best waiter in the world.!! He did an amazing job. I had a date. And the date didn't go so well. The mushrooms are the best I have had in a long time. Perfectly seasoned batter. Yum!! Chips and salsa are outstanding and very flavorful. The Nachos, yum! Perfect amount of beans and cheese. Spinach and mushrooms enchiladas are delicious. Beef fajita tacos are tender and tasty. I didn't get a picture of the chicken fried steak. It's Hugh!! And so good. If you live in New Braunfels, you know about this place. Take a little drive. Check out the menu. Something for everyone. You won't be disappointed. Service was outstanding!

Really enjoyed our dinner! The service was wonderful and the food was equally wonderful. The chips had a nice texture and crunch, along with the queso made a great start. My chimichanga was nice, but maybe a little more crispy would have made it perfect. The fish tacos were good. It was all tasty and very good size, nobody left hungry!

First time ever at Adobe Cafe. We were extremely impressed. Food was amazing and our server, AG, was extremely professional and courteous. We will definitely be back!! Bravo!!!

Food was ok. I ate the the grande fajita burrito. The meat was ok inside the burrito, did not like the sauce, and did not like the rice. Both had a funny taste. The cheese sauce for chips was a little pricey and way too runny, almost like water. Our waitress was nice and very quick with our drinks and food came relatively quick as well for a Sunday dinner. My wife ate the cheese enchiladas which she said was good but she didn’t like the rice either. The complimentary chips were good as was the salsa. I do think it was a little overpriced for what we got. $45 for 2 people and it wasn’t food I would brag about or even say that I would eat again.

I sat alone at the bar, bartender was attentive, food came fast and fresh. Tasted even better! I had the fiesta Queso with ground beef, shrimp tacos and shrimp adobe with a Ranch Water! Sooo so good.

Excellent food and service. Atmosphere was a bit underwhelming but I think we were sat in the spillover area or something. The main dining room and bar looked a bit more put together.

Always great service and delicious food every time I visit this Adobe Cafe. The beer on tap is cold and served in a chilled mug. The staff always have a smile and acknowledge you the moment you enter the room. The food is always as ordered and actually arrives extremely fast. I will be a frequent visitor to this Adobe Cafe. I highly recommend this awesome restaurant if you want delicious and authentic Mexican food at a decent price; and you want it served by friendly and courteous professionals. A+ service every time!

We visited last night for my Birthday dinner. Alexis was sooo nice and went above and beyond. The Chimichanga is MY absolute favorite meal My granddaughter had the Chalupa and Alexis brought her lettuce and tomato to make her dinner really yummy. My hubs loves the Shrimp Tacos

Excellent food and service. My enchiladas had fresh sauted spinach, onions and mushrooms, so hard to find. The salsa and tortillas were better then most by far. My husband got a combo with a shrimp and a fresh fish taco and he loved it. Nice slices of avocado came on both our plates. Our kids were boring and got chicken strips but they gobbled them up.

The best part of writing this review is that when we embarked on our trip to the National Cemetery at Fort Sam Houston from NW Austin, we had never heard of Adobe Cafe and we hadn't planned on taking I-35 to San Antonio and going through New Braunfels. After a missed turn we ended up in Kyle and we just jumped on 35 to save time. We were hungry and wanted to grab a quick bite and then eat dinner later in SA. I asked my girlfriend to Google top-rated Mexican restaurants on our route and among a handful that popped up, Adobe Cafe was on the list. They were all within two miles of our location so we stayed on our route deliberating where to go. We could see 35 to our left so I told my girl that maybe we should just hop back on 35 and eat after visiting the cemetery. She agreed and just as we were about to turn left towards the feeder road, my girlfriend saw Adobe Cafe a hundred yards away on the right. We looked at each other and said, "let's stop there". The rest is history. There are no shortage of Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants in Austin, but we want to be wowed by the food, the service -- all of it. We sat at the bar and Bailey was our server. She was wonderful. Then came the fantastic chalupas and the grilled Carnitas tacos! Oh, man...over the top quality, preparation and final result. It couldn't have been more delicious! You wowed us, Adobe Cafe, and we can't wait to come back.

I am very impressed. I can't eat dairy, and the manager went above and beyond to make sure that my food wasn't cross contaminated. Overall, it was a great experience. It was nice and cozy and quiet where we were sitting. Other people from my party weren't super excited about their meal and thought the fajita portion size was small for the price. But I am very happy that I found a safe place for me to eat! Yes, if you're vegan or gluten free..they've got you covered here!

I have tried several Mexican restaurants since we have moved to Texas, and this place, by far, has the best salsa yet! Not all mush like most places. Had a little kick, but not so much that you are on fire. We would have actually purchased it if they had it up for sale. We both had taco plates. My spouse had the beef taco platter, and I had the fajita platter. Apparently, the beef tacos were amazing. They were inaliated very quickly. The Fajitas were good. They had a lot of flavor from the marinade and were very tender. I was a bit disappointed that they were just plain chicken and no onions and peppers. Any time I order fajitas, they come with onions and peppers. The homemade tortillas were amazing as well. The biggest shout-out goes to our server! I asked her name so I could put it on her, but I suck with names. I believe it was Julianna. She was amazing! One thing I've noticed since moving here is that servers don't necessarily pay attention to people who don't drink. We generally have to ask for them to refill my water or tea. Here I didn't have to. This young lady definitely took care of my drink and anything else we needed.

Loved that your restaurant had vegan options! The meals were so delicious! And service from Andres was excellent! Next time we take a trip from San Antonio to the Stars and Stripes drive in, Adobe Cafe will be our go to for some amazing food! Thank you!

Tried the Fajita Chicken salad. Is was delicious. My husband had the fish & shrimp tacos that were so good. Italian margaritas were amazing

Excellent food, nice atmosphere and great service. I had blackened trout with lobster bisque, nicely prepared and presented. Both were amazing! The flash fried spinach was to die for and the crab cakes were delicious! The only negative was the noise level. Being in the former post office building, sound carries well making it very loud inside. Still, I recommend this restaurant based on the food quality and preparation. Plus I’ve added a picture of my cat. She didn’t come with us but she would have approved.

The Chilean sea bass with crab fried rice was so yummy. The crab cake appetizer was delicious. The drinks and the cheesecake were fantastic. The shrimp was tasty, but the crawfish etouffee it was served on was bland. Our waiter was very good...attentive with a great personality. He made sure we had everything we needed. Overall a wonderful experience.

Very classy setting. They definitely specialize in seafood with some meat options. We had a sampler Cajun plate with fried crawfish, rice and etoufee. The etoufee was very flavorful. It was also a large amount of food for one order. We also got fried catfish and oysters and a poor boy sandwich. They don't usually serve the poor boy sandwich on the weekend but the kitchen was nice enough to accommodate it. If you order the fried plate, be prepared for a heavy dose of fried everything or ask for a salad substitute instead of a mountain of French fries. If you need a break from Texas BBQ, this is a good option. Shout out to Cat for her great hospitality.

Never disappoints. Second time we have eaten here. Drove all the way from East Texas. The crab cakes are amazing as well as the key lime pie. I've never eaten anything like them. I hate brussel sprouts and ordered them anyway and man they were delicious. We got there 5 minutes before 11am and there was a line. You know it's good when there is that kind of wait.

Omg. Exceptional service and food. We love coming here. Tonight we are here for a company event. Staff is super friendly and helpful. This is the 3rd time I've been here. We held our company event on Tuesday and the setting was perfect. It has a very New Orleans theme going. The gas lanterns make for perfect ambiance. The food is exceptional. This has to be some of the best seafood in Texas! They have the best bloody Mary's. The drinks were super strong. Our wait staff has always been helpful. It is expensive, but worth it. We are planning for our next trip here! Highly recommend.

Food is the star of this restaurant. From the oysters, trout, seabass, keylime pie, and raspberry cheesecake, everything was exceptional. Crowd noise can get deafening, and service is slow, but that is apparently the norm post CV19. Get the seabass!

My wife and I ate here for the first time tonight on our way back home after being out and about today for President's Day. We didn't have a reservation, but were able to be seated right away out on the patio where they had plenty of propane heaters to keep all customers warm. The temperature was perfect. We had excellent service from the moment we were greeted through paying the bill. We ordered frozen margaritas while we waited for our food. I got the spicy and my wife got the swirl. They were both outstanding. The fresh bread they brought was light and delicious. Considering the number of people in the restaurant, our meals came out very quickly. We both got the shrimp and scallops dinner, which comes with sliced potatoes and broccoli and is covered in an outstanding lightly creamy white wine sauce. The taste of all was outstanding and different from anything we've ever had. We'd always heard nothing but good things about McAdoo's and now we see why. Definitely had an excellent experience and will be back. Great first impression.

Wow!!! It was all good! The service was great and the food was all delicious! And it was also beautiful and classy! We had brunch and French toast and seafood omelet were fantastic!

Today was our first time here. We had lunch. It was only a few minutes to be seated. We had the charbroiled oysters as an appetizer. I ordered the pick three; caesar salad, fried shrimp and crab cake slider. My husband had the large seafood platter. Everything was good, the service was excellent. The portions were generous. Beautiful atmosphere. We will be returning, next time in the evening.

Was a bit surprised because my expectations for this one were very high. They managed to exceed my expectations, which usually doesnt happen. If you only have one thing. Have the Seafood Fondue. Everything tasted fresh and the drinks were excellent. ILL BE BACK (in my Schwarzenegger voice).

Watch your step when you walk in through the front entrance as the steps are close together. NB has always been my go to for great food, Garret was not only attentive, respectful, and was such a great waiter. Fernanda also helped out and was equally pleasant and a delight to have waiting our table as well. Food was outstanding and everything about this night was perfect. Thank you to Drew who also checked on us. We’ll be back.

This was recommended by my wife's coworker. We are extremely grateful she recommended it. A charming restaurant with wonderful decor. All of the wait staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. They really put you at ease and they didn't bother you too much while you were eating your meal. As far as the food goes, I was left completely shocked! We had ordered the crab cakes and the seafood fondue and everything was absolutely delicious. The seafood tasted so fresh and flavorful. The lemon butter sauce on the crab cakes made every bite burst with a zing of flavor. I can tell you with complete honesty, there was not a spec of food left on the plates. Now the price is a bit high but in this case, you definitely get your money's worth.

We had a great experience here. Food came out as expected for a nicer restaurant. The seafood fondue 🫕 was worth it alone; it's the best thing to hit your tastebuds!!!! It's worth dining here. Overall, it was a great experience, and we will return to try other dishes. If it's your thing, the atmosphere was excellent, we sat outside and it was beautiful. Covered but also full of plant life.

To whoever runs this place- you are doing a PHENOMENAL job at managing the cleanliness and organization. The first thing I wanna applaud is the how the hosts are just hosts- it makes the restaurant work better when people have their own separate tasks. The staff- bussers, servers and all y’all are so good at your jobs. The idea of putting mail and femail on the restrooms is freaking cute and ofcourse the food, is very delicious I don’t have much else to say other than I’m surprised i got seated so quickly. The atmosphere in there was gorgeous.

I had the happy hour catfish bites and mini fondue. Both were amazing but the fondue is out of this world! Austin provided excellent service and recommendations so my favorite restaurant in New Braunfels is now Mcadoo's! I can't wait to go back! Update: I wrote this review based on my dining experience in December (I came across the photos on my phone). I'm back today and had the fondue again (because it's the best thing I've ever had) but also tried the calamari. Austin was my server again so it was another 5 star experience. Thanks Mcadoo's!

This place was amazing, it is a old turn of the century post office that has been restored, preserved and converted into a restaurant. Me and my wife wanted a nice evening together since I’ve been out of town for work for the past few months. Let me tell you this place did not disappoint. The food absolutely blew our mind. Our server absolutely delightful, attentive, and knowledgeable about the building, the food, and up-and-coming events.

Having dined there previously, my friends and I went for Sunday Brunch. All meals were perfect and delicious. We were able to take our time eating and talking and were never urged to leave by receiving the check with the food as many places do. Will definitely return again.

I've been wanting to stop in for quite sometime. I finally made it. The fish tasted really good but the pieces were smaller than I expected. The onion rings were huge, great portion but needed to be fried a tad bit longer. The waitstaff was attentive. It's worth going back for.

We have been here multiple times and I must say, food never disappoints. Just went a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday at about 5:30PM and as always it was busy but not as bad as usual. We waited about 5-10 minutes to be seated. The Onion rings really are delicious. I’ve also had their gumbo, which is made a little different but it still taste great. This time around I had the Shrimp Trio plate with rice and green beans and it was by far the best dish I’ve had here. Very flavorful. Can’t wait to go back!

Expect to spend between $25 - $30 a person if you are going to have an appetizer, beverage and a dessert to split. Overall experience was worth it. Courteous, photo friendly spaces , and friendly service all around. A nice experience. Mashed potatoes are everything google reviews said they would be, and green beans were really tasty as well. All my kids enjoyed their food choices. It was served hot. And the mozzarella sticks were yummy , like Venezuelan style , a very light flour coating on outside - loved the ranch. One tip: if you’re like me and are hot natured , the 2nd and 3rd floor seating are not for you. The heat really rises and there is no real way to get around it. The 3rd floor is a small platform really, and you need to watch the last step as you reach the second floor landing. It was mid afternoon and I was beginning to feel the heat midway into the burger (even with the iced tea) as the fried appetizers plus nice hot food just raises your body temperature.

We came here for our one year anniversary. It was a Monday afternoon and I was surprised at how busy it was. Despite the crowds, we were seated in less than 5 minutes of arriving. Our service was great. We did not feel rushed but also felt our server hadnt forgotten us. The onion rings were the obvious choice for an appetizer and they lived up to their reputation....big, thick, and battered very well....the small order was almost too much for two people. I had the salmon over rice, everything was delicious. We ordered one banana pudding to share and although it was very good, the portion size was smaller compared to everything else we have received....that said, it was sufficient in respect to all the food we had just consumed prior. Over all, this is a lovely place, the atmosphere is a little loud but i feel that is to be expected at this type of establishment. We sat near a window overlooking the river and enjoyed our view and seeing the occasional tuber float by having a great time. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for some good food and time to kill.

Clearsprings restaurant has plenty of parking and a good-sized waiting area, it's a great family-oriented restaurant, with a good atmosphere. The waitress was on point, constantly checking to see if we needed anything and refilling our drinks. All of the food ordered was delicious. The serving size was a good amount. We were not disappointed and will return.

If you like some good home town southern food, this is the place. From fried chicken steak to fried cat fish. Don't forget to order the onion rings. But do not order the large unless you are at least 4 people.

Nice large restaurant. Plenty of seating. It’s a little bit off the highway but worth the short drive. Food was good. Little spicy for me in a New Orleans type of way. Service was fast and friendly. We would return for more.

The shrimp is the best I have ever eaten. Both the shrimp and catfish are seasoned and fried to perferction. The sides were all delicious . You should not pass this place by. I have eaten there many times and thru the years, it is always consistent. Oh, and the onion rings are amazing!

It was my first time at the restaurant. We were seated right away. The decor inside is a collection of things you would find in an antique store. They are so many things to look at. The food was good, the onion rings were amazing. I could have done without the beans and substituted with something else, but I didn't see where there was a selection of sides to choose from. They were out of the peach cobbler so we got the chocolate cake instead. It was good, just a little too much chocolate frosting, too sweet. Overall, it was a nice place to eat at.

WOAH! First time here and had low expectations. But darn the food and service were perfect. I got the shrimp tacos and they were honestly the best seafood tacos I’ve had. I was nervous about the corn tortillas but those cooks know what’s up. Lovely experience and I can’t wait to go back.

We've driven by this place a million times, and it's always packed. I've always been appendices about it because it is a seafood place and I'm not a fan of anything seafood. So, my spouse finally talks me into trying this place out. Thankfully, there wasn't a wait, and we were seated right away. There were a lot of seafood options, which wasn't a big surprise. I went for the chicken strips, and my spouse got the grilled shrimp. I truly had high hopes. I was pretty shocked at the amount of chicken that I had received. The corn was really good, the rice was not for me. It was overcooked and thankfully seasoned but was a bit spicy for me. The chicken was seasoned prefecture and was very juicy. Unfortunately, it tasted like seafood. I'm guessing everything is fried in the same oil, and if you don't like seafood, it is a problem. My spouse loved the grilled shrimp but also tasted the fish aftertaste on the chicken. I was not impressed. I understand you are a seafood restaurant, but chicken and non seafood items should be cooked in a separate fryer.

It was our first time eating here, It was recommended by someone at Lowe’s. The onion rings were huge & delicious, I really loved the shrimp & mashed potatoes & hush puppies as well. (Wish they were alittle bigger) My husband thought everything tasted great. He also said the rice had a kick to it! Which he liked. lol.. Our child said it was pretty good as well!

Outstanding food and service. For something different I tried the server's recommendation for Chicken Fried Pork Ribeye, and it was fantastic. And you have some of their Onion Rings which are among the best I've EVER had.

Chicken Fried Steak w/gravy, Little Buddies ( catfish and shrimp ) excellent. Onion Rings appetizer ( small ) was HUGE. Jalapeno Crawfish Chowder (Hot spicy). All were Great!!

We had a great experience. We have eaten here a few times and it’s great. The chicken fried steak is wonderful as are the fried pickles. This is a great environment with Texas history. Definitely recommend eating here

How can you not stop at the oldest bakery in Texas? We couldn't pass this up and stopped in around 9:30 this morning. Lots to choose from with reasonable prices. We intended to get one treat each but bought a good bit more for family and friends. Be sure to get some of their Fried Apple Pie ($1.75) and a Big Sticky Roll ($2.85).

This place is … mid at best. The front checkout girl was super kind, knowledgeable and friendly. But the pastries were very underwhelming. We tried a smiley face cookie, donut holes, and a brownie. The smiley face cookie left much to be desired. It was nothing spectacular truly a cute design. The donut holes were very thick? I’m not sure if that’s even a good way to describe them. Imagine rolling up a slice of bread into a ball and glazing it, is the best way to describe it. And at last the brownie, it was trying just a bit too hard to be good. It was SO rich it wasn’t even eatable. Too much chocolate and a bit too gooey. Perhaps it was an off day or maybe we should have came earlier in the day instead of at 2.

This is an icon because it has been around for a long time. The pastry were good, had a cream cheese pocket and peach strudel. I also got a bag of sand tarts. The cookies were okay, but not the best or fresh. The service could be trained a little bit better. It seemed like a young person just there for a paycheck. The young lady dropped several pastries when she was pulling the trays.

The staff was very sweet but I didn’t feel as though the baked goods were anything to write home about. My rosebud was soft but didn’t have much of a cherry flavor. My mom tried the cinnamon roll and it was hard. Overall just kind of disappointed

I placed a custom order of the bakeries smiley face cookies almost two weeks before my sons birthday. I needed them all to be one color and with black smiley faces. What I received was a huge disappointment. The color was correct but the smiley faces were all wrong. It looked like whoever did them didn’t care what they looked like. I mean they didn’t even look like the smiley face cookies they sell everyday. When I brought this to their attention on picked all that was offered was a refund and to just have the cookies. I was willing to wait and get them later or even they could the cookies from their multi packs they sell and those would have been better. The taste was off as well. Just a huge let down overall especially for someone who grew up here my entire life and have enjoyed these cookies over the years.

First time I've ever been in here, and I have lived in NB for 3 years. I tried to stay away from Bakeries, but it is so delicious. You could tell they were sold out on the majority of things. Saturday afternoon, which is under everyone, wants something delicious through the holidays. This place is worth coming and enjoying the oldest bakery in the state of texas.

I was excited to visit this bakery as I am a huge fan of German style bakeries! Definitely did not disappoint. Bring your sweet tooth because the variety will certainly amaze you! lol I chose a small variety of pastries and cookies to try. Staff was nice and patient while customers, including myself, took time to carefully choose snacks! 👍🙂

A great German style bakery in the historic downtown area of New Braunfels. I went for the strudel but everything was great! The staff was helpful and friendly. I was there on a Saturday morning and the line at the counter seemed to last all morning but moved quickly

How can you not visit the oldest bakery in the state of Texas SINCE 1868? This bakery is a historic site and treasure! This was such a fun and totally worth the detour on my trip to San Antonio - What a darling town - you can walk off the calories with ease - a real win win! I got the cherry strudel - so yummy! If Summer wasn’t around the corner I would have loved trying every sweet here! It’s so fresh and made with love! There’s coffee cake, breads, pies, & cookies. I also picked up some sweet merch! Thank you!

It's been years since I went to THE BAKERY... boy was I glad I did. Picked up some fantastic apple strudel and a bacon maple donut thing... DELISHIOUS. I'LL BE BACK.... SOON

This place is pretty great. Smells great, looks great, tastes great, and the service is borderline aggressive in wanting to get you in and get you fed. Fresh baked everything and the shelves get clear. My pics are from around 10:30am so you can see that stuff sells fast. Got the brat kolache, delicious. Got the Bismarck - custard filled chocolate doughnuts for some of y'all. Delicious. Nice touch with the cinnamon. Wife got a cupcake and a doughnut twist. Also got a couple loads of bread. Expectations are high.

We stopped here on last Saturday morning. They have a huge selection of pastries including pies, cakes, cookies, doughnuts, fresh baked breads, rolls, Kolaches and breakfast sandwiches. Excellent customer service despite them being really busy. Would certainly return again and would definitely recommend.

I can't believe I waited 2 months to visit! We arrived late morning on a rainy weekday and missed the crowds. What wonderful smells. Tried the custard filled doughnuts and the cinnamon rolls both large and delicious. Employees were friendly and we will definitely be coming back.

New Braunfels & San Antonio is home away from home. Naegelin’s has been a regular spot for my family since the 1950’s. I always get their Gingerbread Men! Go enjoy some pastries and Texas History! God bless 🍩🧁🥐

The service was alright, but if you work in a bakery or any food service, remove all nose rings. It's really gross. Furthermore I tried the first baked treat and it was stale and nothing special. I see how they keep the prices reasonable. This is also one of those places that asks for a tip with no service offered. 😕 I was expecting so much more. Edit: I have eaten all the below pictured items. They were all stale, flavorless and a waste of money. HEB does it far better. Never again, I was so excited, let down.

We’ve been coming here since the 70s. Everything we have tried has been tasty and we especially like the iced molasses bars and the gingerbread planks. Employees are great - we love coming here!
