Gym at Mulberry Recreation Center closed for repairs

The gym at Mulberry Recreation Center will be closed until further notice due to damage to the gym floor. The operating hours at Mulberry will also change until the floor is repaired.

Staff discovered the damage to the gym floor on Feb. 3, 2024. About 720 square feet of the gym floor had buckled and risen up off the foundation. At the moment, there is a large hump in the floor in the back left of the gym.

Discolored water safe to consume

A shut off valve failure caused a backflow in the City of Lenoir water system for about 45 minutes Sunday morning, Jan. 21, 2024. The backflow stirred up sediment, often called "scaling," and discolored city water for some customers.

The water system did not lose pressure during the event. Although discolored, the water is safe to consume.

Due to increased fire risk, the City of Lenoir Fire Marshal has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits within the City of Lenoir and its jurisdiction effective at 5:00 pm today, Nov. 7, 2023.

The City of Lenoir Council recently dedicated a brand new fire truck that is being housed at Fire Station 2. The truck is a 2023 Sutphen rescue pumper, and it should help reduce rescue response times in the city.

Lenoir receives bicycle helmet grant from NCDOT

The City of Lenoir has received a second bicycle helmet grant from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The City will give away the helmets during the Lenoir Bicycle Festival happening in June.

The boil water advisory issued yesterday, Dec. 14, 2022, for the Bushtown area in Lenoir has been lifted. Water consumers in Bushtown, as well as affected areas of Caldwell County, can resume normal water use as of 1:41 pm, today, Dec. 15, 2022.

Compost giveaway #2 this Saturday

The City of Lenoir is holding another leaf compost giveaway this Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

The compost if free if you load up your bins or trailers yourself. It's $5 a scoop to have City staff load your trailer.

The compost area is located off Fairview Drive behind the Caldwell County Animal Shelter.
