What travelers are saying
- Anthony C14 contributionsMy wife and I took the train from Prague to Kunta Hora specifically to see the Cathedral of St Barbara. We had read extensively about the church and had seen photos on line and in print, but in person, the church exceeded our already high expectations.
The path leading to the cathedral is lined by large statues of saints important to the Czech and universal church. They are a beautiful enhancement to the area around the sanctuary.
Once we arrived at the cathedral and bought our tickets, we found that there was an online interactive guide to viewing the cathedral which provided a wealthy of information about the history of the church, and the artists and donors involved, down to small details. A visitor could easily spend several hours to see the church in detail. (We spend a much longer period than we thought we would, effectively making it impossible to see other attractions in the city before we caught our return train to Prague. I was well worth the time we spent at the church, however, and we will return to the beautiful town on our next trip to Prague.)
We would have loved visiting the church even if there were not any information available other than our guide book, but the interactive guide really gave us a sense for the history of the place and the role it has played in the town over the ceturies.
The cathedral also has a small souvenier shop with very competitive prices. A free standing information booth is near the entrance to the cathedral.
If I could have rated this a five star plus, I would have!Written April 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We went to the tourist office and bought the combined tickets which were not cheap, but for some reason they don't let anyone take pictures.
I still think it is worth the visit!Written March 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You get to explore a mine and hear about how they got the silver out of the mine. The museum is only ok so consider skipping that.Written April 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- MegProvidence, RI28 contributionsThe chocolate museum is a fun stop in Kutna Hora. The proprietor was really lovely to talk with and explained everything about the different chocolates we tried. - TheCount69Rochdale, UK911 contributionsA very big spacious cathedral, bought the combined ticket with the Bone Church and glad I did, it is a very spacious cathedral, plain but equally spectacular inside. I walked up to the rafters and along the top to get a great view down below.
This is well worth visitingWritten February 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - indigo9Knoxville, TN44 contributionsMy two young teens and I were on a half-day-trip from Prague and decided to try to see the silver mine. The woman selling tickets was very accommodating and kind even when I misunderstood that the self guided tour is only of the museum. Luckily for us, some booked guests didn’t show up so we were able to book an English guided tour of the mine at the last minute.
Our guide Vítek was terrific. His English is great, and he is friendly and entertaining. He was even able to condense the normal tour down to fit within the time we had. I really wish we could have gone slower and seen it all, but I do think we got the highlights and most of the information. My kids are a bit tired of tours and especially enjoyed getting the mine experience but skipping the museum.
The price is reasonable, and I recommend this unique experience. Be aware that the mine entrance is up a hill from the main building and then involves descending down many flights of stairs. The exit trip back has some stairs and then a small hill to climb. There is also a short section of the mine where you have to duck walk because the ceiling is so low.Written July 6, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Assumption Cathedral.
No parking charges so went straight to see the Castle. There are different tours at certain times ( check website prior to your visit)we chose the servants quarters and to see the rooms. No guided tour in English but for the stately rooms there’s an English language booklet. The tours took about half an hour, between them you can explore the herbaceous garden and the park which is a very English style one.

- Sandy OSauk City, WI1,176 contributionsGothic Stone Fountain. The intensive mining activity of the Middle Ages disrupted the underground water sources. The problem was solved in 1495 when this stone fountain was constructed to serve as a water reservoir. Drinking water was brought via wooden piping from the spring of St. Adalbert and the town was supplied water this way until 1890.Written August 30, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
