Hello to the people of Chester County everywhere. It is good to be with you today! I am excited the Lord has allowed us to be together one more time. For this is the day the Lord has made so, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to read about our hometown news! Last week was such a busy week! Thank you to everyone who attended the 2024 Sterling Award. It was a blessing to see my family and friends from Chester County there.
The city of Henderson would like to say congratulations to Chester County Citizen of the Year, Renee Phelps, and to all of the others winners!
Monday, April 15, was tax day! It will be a celebration for some and a very sad day for others. You know what? Count it all as JOY and keep on living because this, too, will pass!
Did you know that April 10 was Sibling Day? I have four brothers and two sisters: Larry, Dexter, Danny, Sylvia, Dennis and Audria. I am so proud that the Lord blessed me to be their sister. I love all of them, and I miss my brother Danny so much! I know that he is in a better place! While you can, let your sibling know how much you love them! Happy belated Sibling Day to you!
There is a young lady whom I have known all of her life, and we are so proud of her! Congratulations Officer Temperance Walker! We pray the Lord will protect and keep you as you protect us as a Police Officer!
Please continue praying for Valerie, sister of Patty Dotson, and pray for her brother-in-law Andrew. He is in the hospital. Continue to pray for Valerie, that she will recover totally and be healthy from her surgery. I also heard that Michael Todd Burton is in the hospital; please pray for him also.

We need more community involvement for our center and would like to invite people to join in. Annual renewal dues are $25 after your first initial year of joining. Membership dues need to be paid now to be considered an active member. We also take donations. Payments can be mailed to Edith Sills at 4475 Sunshine Rd, Henderson, TN 38340. We appreciate all our members and would like to have more events if we can get enough help to do so. Call Ann Moore at 608-2033 or myself if you have any new ideas for the center or wish to get involved. People who want to rent the community center should contact Betty Cooper at 879-9078 for booking. We ask those renting our facility to please follow our rules and show respect for the building. We try to keep it in the best order possible, and it takes everyone cooperating to make that happen. If you care about this community, please get involved in what is taking place to continue to grow our county and make it a better place to live and raise a family. Get to know what is changing in our local government, schools, churches and communities through the news, friends, your church, teachers, etc., and if it matters to you, there are ways to help make things better.
There is much spiritual warfare with society accepting things that go against who God is and what HIS laws are that we are to follow. Every day of life has its challenges, but if we look to God for the right path, it can be a good one. Please pray for our local government, the County Commisssion Budget Committee as they start preparing the budget for the 2024-2025, our federal government, law enforcement, school staff, teachers and the listed individuals of Jerry Fletcher, Janice Schultz, Bobbie Bethune, Jimmy Smith, Mark Hall, Curtis Morrison, Donna Doyle, Renee Jordan, Wesley Whitman, Ruby Hannah, Donnie Brooks, Linda Plunk, Lee Trice, Patricia Ledford, Mike Tedford, Clint Murley, Sherry Fletcher, Chuck Beacham, Sandra Lott, Faye Crouse, Janice Morris, Lisa Bishop, Jeanette Walker, Paul Schilling, Nancy Crouse and others that are sick or healing. We especially want to remember the families of Karon Connor Reinmann, Darry Jones, Dr. David Thomas, Jeanetta Plunk Riley, Charles Waymon Smith and other families that have recently lost loved ones.
I am always looking for noteworthy news to share in this column. Please send to gaylescox1977@gmail.com or text me at 608-2857.
As always, I am wishing a very blessed week to all you readers. Until next time!

Hello from Enville! I suppose everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather. The weekend was gorgeous, and Monday was great with sunshine and 80 degree temperatures. Danny was out getting our garden ready for some plants, and he also mowed the grass. It looks really good with all the dandelions gone.
Earth Day is Monday, April 22, 2024. EARTHDAY.ORG’s founders created and organized the very first Earth Day on April 22, 1970. Since then, EARTHDAY.ORG has been mobilizing over one billion people annually on Earth Day, and every other day, to protect the planet. This day is meant to help raise awareness of environmental issues through rallies, service projects, and other outdoor activists. Ways we can help are by supporting our pollinators (bees), cleaning up plastic in our neighborhood, going to a park or planting a tree, just to name a few!
There will be a big celebration at the Enville Community Center on Sunday, April 28. It is a BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR DB WEATHERINGTON! His family invites everyone to the community center at noon for food and fellowship and to help them celebrate DB. Come and join in the fun!
The Enville Volunteer Fire Department will have their annual barbecue on May 11 beside the Enville City Hall; they will have barbeque pork, chicken and bologna. They are doubling what they usually cook, so, hopefully, they will not run out too early. They will also have a limited number of ribs and are taking preorders. To order ribs, contact any fire department member. There will also be a bake sale inside city hall with lots of baked goodies, including fried pie. You can preorder by calling Pat Cates 688-5125, or they will have some for sale that day. Any and all dessert donations will be appreciated. All proceeds go for needed equipment and supplies!
Happy birthday wishes go to Donna Wade and Jerry Freeman on April 25. Happy anniversary to Harold and Janice Maness on April 22 and Gerald and Phyllis Russom on April 25. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Please pray for the families of Florence Stublaski, Priscilla Gilbert and Donald Finley and pray for Lisa Bishop, Robert and Linda Johnson, Harold and Janice Maness, Nicole Thompson, Brayden Thompson, Emily Freeman, Tera O’Neal, Mary Lee, Agnes and Robert Smith, Anita Needler, Mary Lou Avent, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Ashley Pugh, Ann Pugh, Dot Smith, Kaye Killingsworth, Tim and Tabitha Hampton, Mike Frank, Mike Pugh, James Vinson, Jimmy Robertson, Rick Ooley, Mike Finley, Doyle Bishop, Jeff Finley, Justin Godsey, Lee Trice, Clint Murley, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, our county and country and, as always, each other.
If you have news, call me at 608-3058, or if you want to rent the community center, call Pat Cates at 688-5125 or 315-8062.
Have a blessed day everyone!

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The skies are blue with white clouds on Sunday, and it was a little breezy in the afternoon. The rain we have had has really brought out the green. We have an abundance of birds with cardinals, wrens, yellow finches and eastern bluebirds. James is trying to mow our grass before it rains again. I know we have had a LOT of rain, but God determines our need, not us.
We enjoyed the fish and chicken Saturday at Finger Volunteer Fire Dept. The weather was great, and attendance was fantastic. The line moved quickly, and there was plenty of food available. I hope this helps their needs. Hilltop Fire Dept. has mailed out requests for donations for our volunteer fire department.
Remember to help these volunteers departments out. We never hope to need one, but we must support ours, too. Our home was hit by lightning when I was in the 12th grade. I know what it is like to not have a home to go to and to only have the clothes on your back. People were nice to donate, and my parents had insurance, but that does not take care of mementos and things of the heart. My parents rebuilt on the same lot, and we lived in a mobile home on the lot until it was finished. It was sad. In typing class the first day we went back to school, I thought about how the kids had a home to go to, but we did not. Thankfully, we were not at home when it happened, and we were okay.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones.
Happy birthday to Josh Fahs, 4-16; Estelle Jones, 4-18; and Ann Weir, 4-20.
Please continue to remember these in prayer – Wesley Bates, Paula Berry, Marie Bishop, Judy Bray, Jeanette Butler, Jackie Chambers, Rickey Clayton, Pat and Paul Coleman, Boyd Cupples, Joie Freeman, Jennifer Gateley, Kyle Goethals, Bro. Glen and Judy Harris, LaDawn Hayes, Danny Hodges, Brenda Hopper, Larry Johnson, Shirley Kendrick, Kase King, Justin Lindsay, Doris McKinney, Martha Mainord, Deana Morris, Jim and Sue Newsom, Cissy and Tom Nichols, Julia Parchman, Beth Plunk, Trudy Powers, Pam Priddy, Ridge Ray, Cathy Sisson, Jacob Thomas, Kevin Thurman, Lee Trice, Tony Tucker, Cammi Walls, Adam Wise, Katherine Wyatt and Mike Young. Also, pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and first responders.
“Thank You, God, For Everything” – by Helen Steiner Rice – “Thank you, God, for everything/the big things and the small/For ‘every good gift comes from God’/the giver of them all/And all too often we accept/without any thanks or praise/The gifts God sends as blessings/each day in many ways/First, thank you for the little things/that often come our way/The things we take for granted/but don’t mention when we pray/Then, thank you for the ‘Miracles’/we are much to blind to see/And give us new awareness/of our many gifts from Thee/And help us to remember that the key to Life and Living/is to make each prayer a Prayer of Thanks and every day Thanksgiving.
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings.
Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
