Seating

In standard configuration – front bucket seats and second- and third-row bench seats – the 2018 Tahoe seats eight in three rows. A front bench seat is available, which brings the seating capacity to nine, while optional second-row bucket seats reduce seating to seven. Cloth upholstery and a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat come standard, while leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and 12-way power-adjustable front seats are optional.

The cabin is quiet thanks to ample noise insulation, and outward visibility is adequate. The front seats are comfortable, with ample adjustments. The second row is roomy, and the seatback reclines. The seats can't slide forward or backward like those in some competitors, however. Like most 3-row SUVs, the Tahoe has cramped third-row seats.

The Tahoe's LATCH system, which lets you securely install child safety seats, includes an upper tether on each second- and third-row seats, along with lower anchors on the second-row outboard seats. All Tahoe models have a rear-seat reminder, which prompts you to check the rear seats for children, pets, or belongings before you exit the vehicle.

Interior Features

The Chevy Tahoe comes standard with tri-zone automatic climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, satellite radio, USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, a Wi-Fi hot spot with OnStar 4G LTE, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. Available features include a 10-speaker Bose surround-sound system, navigation, push-button start, wireless charging for smartphones, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, a safety alert seat, low-speed emergency braking, front parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, lane change alert, and rear cross traffic alert.

The standard MyLink infotainment system is user-friendly thanks to crisp graphics, fast responses, and straightforward menus. The inclusion of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto lets you access some of your phone's apps right on the touch screen. Pairing your phone with the system is a simple affair. On the downside, adjusting some audio settings requires you to use both physical controls and the touch screen, which is a bit inconvenient. The buttons and knobs on the center stack are all easy to reach. The built-in Wi-Fi hot spot lets you connect up to seven devices.

Cargo

The 2018 Chevy Tahoe has 15.3 cubic feet of cargo room behind the third-row seats, 51.7 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 94.7 cubic feet with both rear rows down. Those are below-average figures for the large SUV class. A power liftgate and a hands-free power liftgate are available to make loading easier. The second- and third-row bench seats feature a 60/40 split that gives you more versatility when hauling passengers and cargo. Power-folding third-row seats are available. The downside to seats that fold flat is a high load floor.
