NEWLY RENOVATED! It was one of the very first motels built along the Cambria coast when cattle still roamed on Moonstone Beach Drive. The property boasts one of the best geographical locations on the beach. Right in front of the lodge are amazing tide pools to discover sea life, gorgeous lookouts, Leffingwell Landing Park, and a wide-open beach upon which to stroll. The grounds at the Inn are broad and situated with a heated pool and hot tub, and comfortable sitting areas for enjoyable ocean viewing and people-watching. Newly added to the grounds are an outdoor firepit and wooden bench swing with unparalleled views of the ocean. Many of the guestrooms offer partial views of the ocean, but the front lawn with Adirondack chairs provides an excellent full ocean view and a perfect place for all to enjoy the daily sunsets. The rooms at Castle Inn provide all that you need for a comfortable stay at the beach including a fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and A/C units. Parking is free and as well as our new EV charging stations. It is our intention to make the property one of the best options for families and friends on Moonstone Beach. Pets are welcome in specific and designated pet-friendly rooms only. Please call ahead if traveling with pets. *Please note that our pool and hot tub are currently closed temporarily for renovation. We are excited to reopen it in July and for you to experience the upgrades!

Stayed here one night and got a very reasonable rate through Expedia. Large room with fridge and microwave. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Only a shower, no tub. Limited channels on TV, but adequate. Could hear people walking around in the room above but not problematic. There was a free continental breakfast with pastries, oatmeal, apples and coffee. The inn is right across from beach access and next to Moonstone bar and grill. Heated pool and free onsite parking.

Had a great three day mini vacation from Sunday and left the following Wednesday. The weather turned out to be absolutely perfect didn’t even need a coat. My room was quiet; my only suggestion is to raise the refrigerator off the floor for us senior folks. Otherwise I had everything I needed and the chocolate muffin in the morning with something to look forward to.

Very nice little motel. The room was clean and comfortable. The property is older but well maintained. There are nice chairs on the lawn to watch the sunset. The beach and boardwalk are across the street. We did get a really good off season rate. The breakfast room is very small and offerings are limited, but something is better than nothing. The room walls are very thin. You can hear people talking in the next room and walking above you. When the door to the next room was being opened it sounded like the door to our room was opening. We were lucky that we had good neighbors. By 9pm it was quiet. If there were noisy people there it would be really frustrating with the thin walls. It's probably best to have a room on the second floor. We were on the first floor.
Definitely worth the short drive north on PCH to the elephant seal viewing point.

We have been frequent visitors to Cambria and have stayed at several of the inns on Moonstone Beach. This was our second time at the Castle Inn. Made my reservation on Expedia and received a confirmation number and paid my deposit. Called to see if we could get an early check-in on the morning of my scheduled arrival and there was no answer from the front desk. Left a voicemail and never got a call back. Drove to the inn about 3 hours before check-in time and nobody was at the front desk. Waited for a few minutes and an employee showed up. I asked about early check-in and he said they were short on cleaning staff and that it probably couldn’t happen. He asked for my name and he was unable to find my reservation. I told him I had an Expedia confirmation number which I gave him. After a couple of more minutes searching his computer he told me that my reservation “had fallen through the cracks” and that they didn’t have the room that I had reserved. He offered me a lower quality room at a 40% discount or that I could find something else at another hotel. Of course nothing else is available so I took it. He never apologized or did anything to try to excuse what had happened. Basically, “take it or leave it, I don’t really care”. Will never stay there again. The Castle Inn is part of a group of inns in Cambria which makes them all suspect now.

Road trip test drive included an overnight stay at the Castle Inn. Good location on Moonstone Dr. checking was without issue. Clerk was helpful to me and other patrons. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Even though my room was on the second floor Surrounded by large family gathering it was quiet without any noticeable Next Door Neighbor noise. I wouldn’t mind staying here again.

We spent four days at this motel and our room had a great ocean view. No daily room service, but it was not really needed. The room had a small refrig on the floor and thin walls but we brought our white noise device and slept exceptionally well. The only added feature would have been if the room(s) had a small microwave( that could easily be set on top of the refrig.) Although we ate out often, warming up a meal here and there would be convenient and not requiring eating out for every meal. The motel also has two BBQs which are not mentioned (bring/buy your own charcoal).Outstanding value for a motel just across the street from the Pacific!

Our room #4 was clean, attractive, and the beds very comfortable. The view from our upstairs room looked out to the ocean across the street and we enjoyed a lovely sunset. However, there was a problem with the front door - I could not open it from the inside! Had I been a woman traveling alone, I would have needed to call the front desk for help to get out. My husband was able to open it so we didn't request a different room but the door needs to be repaired before anyone else stayes there. We reported the problem and hope it has been fixed.

What a wonderful hotel with a beautiful location!
We were in the upstairs Room 10. Even though there were lots of lounge chairs out in front of the hotel to watch the sun set over the ocean, our room had a great oceanview from the window as well.
Room was very clean and spacious; we really liked the lighting in the room and the bathroom. Air conditioner worked efficiently and was pretty quiet.
Bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows, and lots of towels available to use in the bathroom.
Room had a microwave, mini fridge, and mini Keurig with a few coffee pods provided.
Breakfast in the morning included muffins and scones.
Also FYI, the ice machine outside had a little water spigot to fill a water bottle!

Love the remodel! We stay here several times a year and enjoy the convenient location, access to the beach and casual atmosphere. Our 2 night stay was marred by noisy upstairs neighbors which had previously never been a problem; on the same night the audio on the TV was out so we sat in our room on this chilly windy night listening to the people upstairs sound like they were running back and forth in their room. Front desk unable to help that evening with the t.v. and the next morning the front desk knew nothing about our issue. We also really miss the old style breakfast, more options you gave customers in the kitchenette at back of property. Please bring it back!!!

First rate room so charming and welcoming. Bed was so comfyj, nice breakfast, Daisy say 5 star doggie yard equipped with bag and a disposal station. Upon returning we had a bag of delicious chocolate chips hanging on the door nop. So many special touches love the red chair so you can sit and watch the sunset over the ocean or you morning coffee. We travel all the time this was a first a station to clean you windows.
The staff are very helpful instructing us with things to do and places to eat.

No but you can view the sea depending on what room you have, its across the road from the hotel
When I booked a room at this hotel they called me to ask if I had a dog and what its name was. I did not have a dog but they wanted to make sure I knew that it was a dog friendly hotel. They gave us a non-pet room so just let them know when you book whether you will be bringing a dog.
No, generally Cambria has mild temps year-round with little need for it.
Hi
We do have 3 pet friendly rooms and yes they are on the first floor.
Thank you
