Canadian 'Cash Cab' Kills Pedestrian

Monday, 18 July 2011 02:59 PM EDT

The Associated Press reports the car used in the Canadian version of 'Cash Cab' struck and killed a pedestrian.

The accident occurred on Friday when a producer was driving a car back to a garage after the day’s filming, said Andrew Burnstein, the president of the company that produces 'Cash Cab.' The Vancouver Police said that the 61-year-old man struck by the vehicle died in the hospital shortly after being hit.

No charges against the driver have been filed so far, the police told AP.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his friends and his family," Burnstein said. "My heart also goes out to the driver of the vehicle, a member of our technical staff, who is shaken and devastated by this tragic accident, as is our entire team."

'Cash Cab' has been broadcast in Canada since 2008. The Canadian version of the show is hosted by comedian and licensed taxi driver, Adam Growe.
