Truly one of the worst resorts I’ve EVER
experienced. Staff is extremely rude and we were harassed by the staff for laughing and enjoying the company of the other guests. Please don’t ever consider staying here.. it is a nightmare.

Huge park convenient to three Metro stations. You should definitely have a map of some kind available to you because there are not very many signs. Only one public restroom, this is located in the car park by the lake. (It shows up on Google Maps as “aseo publico.”) The park facilities are a bit run-down, but this doesn’t affect the scenery at all. We didn’t see any litter at all on the trails.
We hiked about 6 miles with the help of the AllTrails app, which shows several routes in the park as well as all the little side trails. Enjoyed great views of the city from the ridge along the eastern side of the park. It was a nice break from the noise and traffic of the city. Enjoyed a good late lunch at the Tabernacle Urugallo by the lake afterwards.
If you only have a short time in Madrid this probably won’t make the list, but if you have some time to spare, this is a nice way to do something different and not at all touristy.

This is an absolutely stunning park. I ran around here for 16 miles and did not cover half of the trails/paths available. There are lots of picnic areas as well as drinking water fountains dotted around the place.

La casa de campo in Madrid is really good, you can enjoy riding, running and even doing boat on the lake ! There are a few restaurants next to the lake to eat some tapas with some friends.

Can't fault the park for the weather, it was 100+ degrees when we went. However, it was essentially a massive acreage of trees that looked like they somehow were placed in the middle of a desert. We saw one rabbit in terms of wildlife; i'm assuming the few remaining lifeforms were gathered up and being held at the zoo. The game room housed 5-6 all broken games, the amusement park was closed and gave off an abandoned vibe, and the endless bike trails looked pretty appetizing if you enjoy a thin filament of dust across your mouth and face in addition to a shifting hilly terrain that likely will cause your quads to have nightmares for days. The funicular from the city was smaller than the 4 seat train compartment i'm currently sitting in and writing this review and if you're wondering if the windows go down...they don't. Prepare yourself for a healthy dose of swass. But, fret not! The audio speaker plays all the Phil Collins songs that were not released in the states i'm assuming due to lack of quality. I'm not sure if Phil would be happy or sad his morning practice sessions were secretly recorded and are being released in Spain. Maybe i'll go back in the Spring or Fall but this trip felt a lot like the advertised walking dead experience in the theme park without the entry fee...so maybe a small win there?

Huge park with something for everyone, even an amusement park & zoo. Bike & boat rentals, cafes, nature trails....worth the walk!

Basically, within two minutes of setting foot in the park, we saw two men engaging in activities of a sexual nature. Then, we went further into the park only to witness a group of approximately four men in a bush. What they were up to is nobody's business, but it looked very dodgy. Next, we arrived at the bottom of a hill, only to realise that we had to escape as a man began to persue us. We narrowly escaped with our lives intact. We then retreated back into the school, Colegio Lourdes, which is only metres away from this type of activity. I would not recommend this park for those who do not enjoy this.

We visited the Casa de Campo to go to the Zoo/aquarium. We got the metro out which was very easy to use. The Zoo is quite good.. very quiet when we were there which was great. I think it needs some investment though and a lot of the animals were not there. The Dolphin show was absolutely wonderful! We walked from the Zoo down to the lake for a bite to eat... a tad expensive but adequate.

Casa de Campo lies just to the south west of metropolitan Madrid. The entrance across from the Principie Pio metro station brings one into the north-eastern part of the park where the cycling track starts.
The park itself has ample tracks and roads for mountain biking, road bikers, running and walking your dog. There is a large reservoir that is home to the kayaking club where one may take part in canoe polo.
Night cycling through the park is a solitary experience but it's never threatening. Avoid the areas closer to the south east of the park near housing estates if you don't wish to see its seedier bits.

The Casa de Campo was really impressive as a park. Unlike the Retiro, this area feels more or less like it's been left to grow wild and there are apparently deer in the park, although I didn't see any.
For the tourist, there's an amusement park, but on limited time I'd come here for two purposes. Firstly to see the view back into the city and secondly to ride the cable car.
For those with an interest in Spanish History, the Casa de Campo was a battle field during Spain's civil war and it's one of the places where the Republican armies held the nationalists advance on Madrid.
There is a viewing area very near to the entrance to the Teleferico (cable car), with maps (which could used a little TLC) laying explaining what you can see of the city. The Teleferico takes you from the center of the park into Arguelles north of the University.
If you're interested in this period of Spanish history, the University is where the journalists Ernest Hemmingway and Martha Gelhorn viewed the nationalist lines from the Republican defences (From the Teleferico you can also walk 10 mins to the site of the Hotel Florida, where many of the pro-Republican journailsts were based at the beginning of the conflict. It was pulled down around 1964, and is now the site of the department store El Cortes Ingles)

Is there any free parking around the area to park the car and enjoy the park?

There appeared to be lots of parking especially near the top of the park by the cable car stain and the entrance to the parks
