OBITUARY: May & Smith Funeral Home, Sandersville GA
Mr. Steve A. May, age 66, of Sandersville, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2nd, at 2:00 p.m. at the Sisters Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites. Reverend Jimmy Casey, Elder Kenneth Brantley and Reverend Quillian Mercer will officiate. Pallbearers will be Earl Trussell, Tony Anthony, Mike Franklin, Benny Bussell, Tim Gallops, Richard Welch, George Lord and Al Trussell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Seekers Sunday School Class.
Mr. May was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County the son of the late S. Frank May and the late Faye Allen May. He graduated from Washington County High School in 1966 and from Southern Technical College in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering. In the same year, Steve began his working career with Thiele Kaolin Company from which he retired in 2003 as Sandersville Operations Manager. He was a lifelong member of the Sisters Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class, was active with the Church Brotherhood and a former R.A. Director. Steve was a member of the Tennille Masonic Lodge #256 where he was a past Master.
Survivors are his wife, Brenda Harrell May of Sandersville; children, Robbie May and his wife Angela and Julie M. Brannen and her husband Wyley; grandsons, Dylan May and Will Brannen all of Statesboro; his sister, Susie M. Andrews and her husband Jerry of Tennille; and his brother, Bill May and his wife Pat of Sandersville along with nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the May residence on Camille Ct. in Sandersville and they will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
