ALDERMAN, Veda Helen of Sun City Center, born June 4, 1935 and departed this life on March 9, 2011. She was preceded in death by father Gilbert Prine. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Ivey A. Alderman, 95 year old; mother Ila Prine Crawford; children Douglas Alderman (Deborah), Vickie Godbee (Robert), and Troy Alderman; sisters Wanda Colding (Waymon), Mildred Carlton (Isaac), and Jeanette Dorris (Butch); grandchildren Jessica Brainard (Paul), Jason Alderman (Jackie), and Joshua Alderman; great-grandchildren Abigail Brainard, Lillyanne Brainard, Eisley Alderman, Graydin Alderman, and Brenna Helen Alderman (due April 20, 2011). ASHBROOK, Vera S. 88, of San Antonio and Dade City, FL, departed this life peacefully March 7, 2011, at HPH Hospice House in Dade City. Vera was born in Bushnell on Dec. 22, 1922, and graduated from Hernando High School in Brooksville. Her husband, Frank Ashbrook Jr., attended the University of Florida, served in World War II, and received the Purple Heart. Vera and Frank lived for fifty years on the Ashbrook family homestead; the Ashbrooks had moved to Florida in the 1890s, where they worked in the citrus and cattle industries and helped operate the Standard Oil Company. Vera volunteered at the U.S. Air Force Base in Brooksville. In Dade City, she was a charter member of the Magnolia Garden Circle, a member of the Dade City Women's Club, and St. Mary's Episcopal Church ECW member. She enjoyed participating in fashion shows at William's & Otto's department store, and in activities with the Leading Ladies Club in San Antonio. Vera will be remembered especially in her role as a grandmother, as a loyal and fun-loving friend, and for the creative talents she shared with others. Vera is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julia Schrader and Ted Schrader of San Antonio, FL, and grandchildren Ben Schrader of Washington, D.C., Jordan Schrader of Tampa, and Teddy Schrader, of Gainesville, FL. Visitation will be 10:30 to 11:30 am, Monday, March 14th at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Dade City. A funeral Mass will then begin at 11:30 am. A reception will follow at the parish hall. BRADLEY, William Arthur 70, of Lutz, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Susie, and daughter Heather. Born Dec. 20, 1940, in New York City, NY, William was the only child of the late Clarence Dexter and Cleo Gabriel Bradley. He attended University City High School in St. Louis, MO. Following his high school graduation, William served his country as a Navy Corpsman on the USS Aldebaran. William graduated from University of South Florida with a Bachelors in Special Education and a Masters in Guidance and Counseling. William was employed by the Hillsborough County School system for more than 30 years. He was an active volunteer with Chamberlain's FFA and the horticulture program at the Falkenburg Road Jail. William had a passion for many hobbies which included rock/artifact collecting, plants, gardening, and many more. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm Saturday, March 12 , at Tims Memorial Presbyterian Church, 601 Sunset Lane, Lutz, FL. CARPENTER, Charles "Chuck", born Oct. 28, 1926, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2011, under the care of Suncoast Hospice. Predeceased by wife Joan and son Chuck. Survived by son Brad, Lincoln Park MI; daughter Connie (Bill) Kennedy, St. Petersburg and Amy (Lance) Kolbert, Holiday; grandchildren Christina Tolzdorf, Dearborn Heights MI and George Kennedy, White Lake, MI; great-grandson Jason Tolzdorf; and faithful companion of 14 years Virginia (Gigi) Scherr. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army. Chuck moved to Florida with his wife and youngest daughter in 1982, after retiring from Massey Ferguson in Detroit, where he worked in the tool and die trade for more the 25 years. He was Methodist. He enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, dancing, play games and watching sports. A gathering will be held at Curlew Hills Funeral Home Sunday, March 13, 2011, from 2 to 3:30, followed by a memorial service celebrating his wonderful life at 3:30 pm. DUFFY, David J. 80, Largo FL. completed his earthly journey and was called home to his creator, his parents Ed and Peg (Kelley) and 9 siblings on March 7, 2011. Born September 24, 1930 in Somerville MA, he worked his early years for Pitney Bowes. He loved golf and was proud of his 3 "hole-in-ones". He owned D&M Mailing Service in Woburn MA until he retired to FL in 1987. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Carolyn M. (Cote) Duffy. He was "Dad" to David Jr. (Val), Denise (Bob) Cayer, Diana (JR) Wilcox, Donna (Dan) Doherty. He was "Pops" to Shelley (Clay) Richardson, Jodi (Jerry) Dussault, Brian (Denise) Pierce. He also leaves 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and was proud of them all. He had several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be determined by the family.

DUGAN, Mary Jane (nee Drumm) 81, of Tampa, (Akron, OH), went home to be with the Lord on March 5, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harry Dugan, and by her parents, Harold Drumm, Sr. and Helen (Rawling) Drumm; brothers, Harry, Earl, John, Charles, and Harold, Jr. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. ENGLISH, Cheryl Anne 43, of Valrico, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011. A life long resident, Cheryl, graduated from Brandon High School in 1985 and went on to graduate from USF. An Independent Insurance Agent, she was a member of NAPPA and a charter member of Krewe of Agustina. Cheryl cherished most, the time she spent with her daughter Addison, age two, Disney World, and was an avid "Gator Fan." Survivors include her daughter, Addison, parents Franklin and Anita English; sister and brother-in-law; Carla and Beny Peretz, niece; Kelly Peretz; maternal grandmother; Oree McKinney, and her uncle; Rudy McKinney. FITZPATRICK, Ann Helen (nee Durner) Our mother, just shy of her 89th birthday, had a peaceful ending to a wonderful life filled with family, friends, and grandchildren, whom she adored. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband George Fitzpatrick. She is survived by four devoted children, Joan Flynn, St. Pete Beach; Sharon Boome (Chris), San Carlos, CA; George Fitzpatrick Jr. (Mary), Wilmette, IL; Kevin Fitzpatrick (Kate), Naperville, IL; eight adoring grandchildren, Casey Boome, Matt Fitzpatrick, Kevin Boome, Sean Fitzpatrick, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Kathryn Fitzpatrick, Michael Fitzpatrick and Kelly Fitzpatrick; her brother, Tony Durner (Ann), Linden NJ and sister, Rose Dillensnyder, Riverside, CA. Mom was born in Elizabeth, NJ, where she spent her formative years. She and her husband George moved to Griffith, IN in 1960, where they were parishioners of St. Mary's Parish for more than 40 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, a gentle soul for all, who brightened the lives of those around her. The last several years of her life were spent with her daughters in St. Pete Beach and San Carlos, CA. She is now with the Blessed Mother, which was her heart's desire. GARDNER, Bonnie Lee (Fair) 72, formerly of Sun City Center, West Jefferson, NC and Canton, OH, passed away at LifePath Hospice in Florida on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Born on Aug. 16, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Maxine E. and Carl L. Fair. She was preceded in death by her daughter Bekki Whitmer Chapman. In Canton, Bonnie graduated from Lehman High School in 1955, and attended Ohio University. She was a member of Lowell United Church of Christ. In East Jefferson, she was an active member of Jefferson United Methodist and loved spending the summers and early fall in the mountains. Wintering in Florida allowed her to be near her son and daughter-in-law who meant so much to her. While in Sun City Center, she, and her husband attended Sun City Center United Methodist. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gene Gardner of West Jefferson, NC and Sun City Center; son and daughter-in law, William and Kim Whitmer of Dunedin; sisters Susan K., wife of Frank Reid of Bonita Springs, and Cathy J., wife of Daniel Kraft of Lancaster, PA; step-son Rick Gardner and his wife Dale of Valrico; step-son Jeff Gardner and his wife Loretta of Indianapolis, IN. In addition, she was loved by 6 step-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She had many friends spanning many states who will miss her as well. Bonnie's strength and courage in fighting the cancer helped all of us deal with her transition to Heaven. She never let the disease define who she was. She will always be remembered for her artistic flair in whatever she would do, her passion for recycling even before it was in vogue, and her devotion to family and friends. GERACI, Samuel 75, of 210 Beechwood Lane, Largo, passed away on Dec. 23, 2010 after a long illness. Sam Geraci was born on Dec. 10, 1935, in New Haven, CT to Anthony and Mary Ann Geraci. Mr. Geraci served in the United States Navy for 10 years. He was a veteran of the Korean war. He achieved the rank of Boatswains Mate 2nd Class, serving at Pearl Harbor Naval Base in Honolulu, HI, before being honorably discharged in Nov. 1961. He was very proud of his service and he was personally commended by Admiral Zumwalt, as having a canny insight into human relations. Sam could accomplish anything he set his mind to doing. After his tour of duty in the Navy, Sam started his career in hotel management. He was general manager of the Framingham Motor Inn in Framingham, MA, assistant manager of the Palm Beach Towers in Palm Beach and the general manager of the Sandcastle Inn in Clearwater. Sam Geraci is the beloved father of two daughters, Marianne Geraci of Reading, MA and Judith Edwards of Branford, CT; grandfather to Cecily and Alison Edwards of Branford, CT; brother of Lawrence Geraci, of East Haven, CT; Michael Geraci, of Safety Harbor, and the late Anthony Geraci of South Carolina; cousin of James, Richard and Nicholas Grasso of New Haven, CT. Also survived by many, many, other wonderful friends, especially his best friend, Al Cordova, of Tampa. A memorial service in his memory will be held at the Moss-Feaster Funeral Home, 693, South Belcher Road, Clearwater, on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. GIOVINAZZO, Gerald 84, died Monday at home. Born in Port Richmond, he moved to Largo in 1995. For about 40 years he was a paint batch mixer at Standard T. Chemical Co., later acquired by Exxon Mobil Corp. He bowled for many years in the company league at the former Sunset Lanes, New Springville. He was a member of Christ the King R.C. Chapel, the mission church of St. Mary of the Assumption R.C. Church, and a longtime committee member of Boy Scout Troop 117, all in Port Richmond. Predeceased by wife of 53 years Edith Stirrat Giovinazzo, survivors include two sons, Jerry and Gary; sister, Gloria Walas; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Services have already been held in New York.

GRIMES, Alice Barker Brierley 98, of Seminole, passed away on March 6, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Harold F. Grimes. Alice is survived by her four sons and their wives, Robert E. and Sheila of Windsor, CT, Phillip H. of Seminole, David J. and Emily of Brookings, OR and Timothy P. and Loretta of Ann Arbor, MI; eight grandchildren and a sister Winifred Natoli, of Punta Gorda, FL. Alice was born in Dover, NH on Nov. 27, 1912 and resided there until 1978 when she and Harold moved to Seminole. She was a registered nurse graduating from Dover Wentworth School of Nursing in 1933. Alice worked at Wentworth-Douglas Hospital and Wentworth Retirement Home in Dover. She was active in her home parish, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and in St. Mary's Academy which her sons attended, serving as President of the Academy Guild. Besides her husband, Harold, Alice was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Kidney and Jeanette Carignan, and her brother, Lawrence Brierley. Alice will be sorely missed by her family and many fiends in Elmwood Circle at the Gardens Condominiums in Seminole. HANKINSON, Wade O. 94, of Sun City Center, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Cypress Creek ALF. Born in Aiken County, SC, he was a graduate of Clemson University and received a Masters in Education from the University of Florida. Wade served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received the Bronze Star for his service in the East China Sea. He retired as a Lt. Commander in the USNR. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1949, and retired in 1972, as principal of Riviera Junior High School. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Parrish. Survivors include his wife of 69 years Mary Hankinson, Sun City Center; 3 sons Wade Owen (Linda) Hankinson, Jr. of Bradenton, Lloyd Edgar (Ann) Hankinson of Sarasota, and Barry Stephen (Jamie) Hankinson of Apollo Beach. HOLLENBERGER, James W. 83, of St. Petersburg, originally from Pittsburg, PA, went to be with the lord on March 5, 2011. James was the son of the late Samuel and Amelia (Moll) Hollenberger. James married the love of his life Margueritte (Duve) July 15, 1950 and they were married 38 years until her passing in 1988. James is survived by his loving children, James (Eileen) Hollenberger, John (Terry) Hollenberger, and Joseph (Lori) Hollenberger. He leaves behind seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren that will miss him deeply. All services are at the convenience of the family. LEMOINE, Arthur F. 80, of Largo, passed away March 7, 2011 at Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park. He was born and raised in Lowell, MA and moved to Florida in 1970. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Madeira Beach office and the Florida Army National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 273. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Alice; one sister, Margaret; two brothers, Donnie & Bernie and their spouses; three sons, Steve, Larry, Phil; one daughter Margie and their spouses; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. LETO, Gaetano "Tom" 76 of Tampa passed away on March 6, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father, Dominick Leto. He is survived by his wife, Norma; a son, Michael Leto; a daughter, Anita Becton (Michael); 2 grandchildren, Andrea and Brian Wade; a sister, Diana Buchanan (Austin) and his mother, Antonina Leto. He retired from Tampa Electric Company and was a member of the alumni of Jesuit High School, class of 1953, also a member and the secretary of Superstars Bowling League. Robert was born on March 20, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Robert Super and Elva Martin and came to this area in 1971, from Wilmington, DE. He was employed by Verizon Telephone Company as a telephone technician. Robert served our country in the United States Navy as a deep sea diver aboard the USS Sunbird. He earned his 4th degree black belt in Chito-Ryu karate and was a sensei and instructor for over 25 years in Gulfport. He was also an avid gun collector, enjoyed boating and had a deep love for wildlife. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Shawn Shirley Martin, Inverness; two daughters Shelley (Terry) Dixon, Dublin, GA and Kelley (John) Doepel, St. Petersburg; his brother David (Jean) Martin Springhill; four grandchildren and his beloved dachshund, Barkley. Dixie was an avid and talented seamstress, and she loved animals, particularly dogs and cats, a number of whom were lucky to share her life. STONYS, Catherine 76, of New Port Richey, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011. Katrina Stonys was born in Vilkaviskis, Lithuiania, on Dec. 13, 1934. She and her family emigrated to Chicago, IL in 1949. She graduated Maria High School in 1953. She was married in 1956 to Algerd Stonys, now deceased. Catherine Stonys completed the process, and was sworn in for U.S. citizenship in October, 2001. Catherine raised her family and worked in the data processing industry from the time of key punch cards. Working for manufacturing and steel industries in the Midwest, she processed paperless orders before the first great fuel crisis. She moved to Florida in order to be closer to her parents and provided her IT application skills for the State of Florida, from which she retired. She was awarded and commended for her service and skill while working for HRS, specifically for department of juveniles, later named the Department of Child Services. She is survived by her sons, Algis and Raymond; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Angela. She was dedicated to caring for her family and will be extremely missed. WILLENDRUP, Elsie Inez 88, passed into Heaven's gates March 5th, 2011, from complications due to Alzheimers Disease. She moved to Largo from Scotia, NY to be under the care of her nephew Martin Denton and his wife Loretta and resided at Arden Courts of Largo. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Willy of Scotia and her sister Viola Beck of Largo. Elsie was an executive secretary for GE for over 30 years in Schenectady. She was an active volunteer for the Red Cross for many years and initiated a program to teach stroke victims to be comfortable in water. She was a long time breast cancer survivor and took pride in visiting cancer patients to give them information and comfort. Those who knew Elsie came to love her for her stern but caring ways and if she liked you, you had friend for life. Her family and friends give special thanks to Arden Courts of Largo for the love and excellent care they gave her and to hospice the coral team.
