I'm not certain, but I think you have to get a windshied with a rain sensor built-in. I think this was discussed once over at mbworld.org in the W203 forum. You might try doing a search there.
nothing happens to it, as it is not part of the windshield. however there are 2 different windshields, one with and one without. the rain sensor is actually part of the car. the difference in windshields is that the one w/rain sensor has a place in the window where there is no tinting. this is the only difference.
One thing I'm curious about - do the new windshields come from the parts depot with that neat Daimler Signature sticker already in the lower right-hand corner? Or do they put it on at the dealership? Or does it never return?

This is an interesting subject. Since I am 6000 miles from my car, I can't be exact on this. The sticker has the signature of either Carl Benz or Gottlieb Daimler. Check you car wtih the original windshield to see which one it is. The replacement windshields allegedly have the stickers with the signature of the other Daimler-Benz founder. On the other hand, I havae read that you can buy the OEM sticker at the dealer for 5 cents. It is supposed to be the cheapest item in the parts inventory.
That is interesting, Lynn - Thanks! It's good to know that I'm not the only one to ponder such things.
Now, every time I see an MB in a parking lot, I'll be checking for different signatures!
Thanks again..
Lynn, Mine says "G. Daimler". Anyone elses windshield say Benz?
