Can You List All the Requirements for Free Parking on the Strip? | Las Vegas Advisor

Question of the Day - 30 August 2022

Q:

Can you put all the requirements for getting free parking on the Strip in one place, i.e., a QoD? I'm sure it would be helpful to a lot of readers.

A:

Of all the questions we receive at QoD, those about parking on the Strip are among the most frequent. Here are the details.

There's free parking at the following Strip casinos (and mall): STRAT, Sahara, Circus Circus, Wynn/Encore, Resorts World, Venetian/Palazzo, Trump Tower,  Fashion Show Mall, Treasure Island, Casino Royale, Tropicana (fees are charged for events at Allegiant Stadium).

Everyone, regardless of state of driver's license, gets the first hour free. Those with Nevada drivers licenses get three hours free.

At MGM Resorts casinos, if you obtain the MGM Rewards Mastercard, your parking is free for the lifetime of the card, which has no annual fee. You can also earn free parking by obtaining a regular Rewards (formerly M life) membership and playing your way to Pearl-level status, which can be done both by gambling and making purchases while on property (eat, drink, and gamble your way to a free parking space!). And if you’re a really good player — or a very big spender — and reach Gold status, you get free valet parking as your reward as well.

At Caesars Entertainment properties, both self-parking and valet parking are free to holders of Caesars Rewards Visa cards; make at least one purchase within 90 days of approval and be bumped up to Platinum status, which qualifies you for free parking. There’s no annual fee.

At the Cosmopolitan, parking is free only if you’re a Sterling-level member of its Identity loyalty program. Eventually, now that MGM Resorts is operating the joint, the Identity Club will be folded into the Rewards program.

Other than the credit-card information above, all the free parking details are in one place on this site: lasvegasadvisor.com/parking-fees

    Everyone… ?
That third paragraph is a bit vague. Everyone gets the first hour, etc, free WHERE? The remaining unnamed locations?

    And what about downtown?

Use the cards, spend your money
If you have the Caesars Rewards credit card, they will take away your Platinum status if you do not spend $5000 annually. I personally have experienced this so be sure to use the credit card. Also at MGM you can't just get the card and not use it. I did that and lost my card as they took it away for non usage, I had to reapply for the card and start using it. I don't think there is an annual requirement, however I am just now in my first year with the new card. We will see.

    Hope this helps some folks.

    Invited Guests
One you didn't mention is that parking fees (and resort fees) are generally waived for invited guests. So if you're visiting on a room offer, or if your host comps your room up front, you likely won't have to pay.

MGM did have free parking for veterans.Has this changed?

    MGM Valet
My latest read on the MGM tier benefits is that valet parking is NOT a perk of Gold status any more. I haven't confirmed this yet but perhaps someone else reading this knows?

    Dave Miller.....
    Dave Miller.. "Everyone… ?
That third paragraph is a bit vague. Everyone gets the first hour, etc, free WHERE? The remaining unnamed locations?". No - the ones named above "There's free parking at the following Strip casinos (and mall): STRAT, Sahara, Circus Circus, Wynn/Encore, Resorts World, Venetian/Palazzo, Trump Tower, Fashion Show Mall, Treasure Island, Casino Royale, Tropicana (fees are charged for events at Allegiant Stadium)."

And what about downtown? The person specifically says "Can you put all the requirements for getting free parking on the Strip". Probably why there's no mention of Downtown...or off Strip.... or Henderson.... or etc etc etc....

    MGM still recognizes veterans
MGM does recognize veterans and their families by awarding them Pearl level permanently. My husband is a Vietnam vet and since I share his last name I only had to show his DD214 and I was immediately upgraded to Pearl several years ago. My card expires every year but I've never had a problem getting a new one, including this year. I just use my card to go in and out of the garage and never have to pay for parking.

Caesar's will also award the higher level to veterans and their families, but the veteran has to be the one to prove his/her service. I've never been able to get the upgrade at Caesar's since my husband doesn't like to go to casinos so is never with me when I visit a Caesar's location. Maybe someday!

    veterans benefit
My husband has a veterans card from Caesars and MGM, it lifts you to the next level that gives you free parking. They also elevate the spouse (I'm not sure about other eligibility) to that level. Hollywood casinos, not Planet Hollywood, but includes The M, also has a veterans level card. Some of the Hollywood locations also give a 10% discount on food.

    Tier Match
Besides getting the MGM Rewards MasterCard to upgrade to Pearl they match tier with many other resorts. See https://www.mgmresorts.com/en/mgm-rewards/tier-match.html

Caesars and Wyndham match tier both ways. To keep Platinum without charging $5,000 each year match to Wyndham Platinum in January and then back to Caesars in February.

MGM Rewards members Gold and above pay no resort fee. Same with Caesars Diamond and up.
