The Blue Castle was built in three stages 1676, 1711-18 and 1756-58 by the barons and later counts of Seckendorff-Aberdar.
In 1745 the barons built the Red Castle.
The lords of Seckendorff, a widely ramified noble family, have always been high officials and ministers to the margraves and their respective governments.
Its origin goes back to the small town Seckendorf near Cadolzburg in 1254.
