Brunswick Monument

Mont-Blanc, 1201 Genève, Switzerland

Facing the lake, Brunswick monument is an impressive mausoleum with a surprising structure and history. It was built 1879 in neo-gothic style at the request of the Duke of Brunswick, Charles d’Este-Guelph (1830-1873)- the eccentric noble figure, linguist, musician and knight. It is a historical replica of the Scaligeri family tomb in Verona dating from the 14th century. It was built in the Jardin des Alpes, in the former natural harbor of Pâquis.
