A group of 8 of us had a great time at Brocket Hall - playing the Palmerstone Course on a sunny April afternoon. The fairways, Tee boxes and greens were in excellent condition and maintained to a high standard. Will definately visit again and play The Melbourne course.

The hotel (Melbourne Lodge) has good rooms.
Food service was quite slow even though not very busy which was disappointing.
Pro Shop was very helpful.

I stayed at Melbourne Lodge as my husband was playing golf thenext day. I was surprised to find out our rooms were in an annexe and we had to check in st the golf club. It was quite a walk with our luggage, especially as there wasn't a lift. The room was spacious but tired with stains on the ceiling. There was no wifi which seemed strange in 2013

Breakfast was back across the grounds to the golf club and while the food was excellent, it didn't have the ambience I like or expect, overall, it was over priced as it lacked so any of the amenities I would expect.

Situated within the grounds of the Brockett Hall estate Melbourne Lodge is a lovely venue to spend a night or two in absolute peace and quite surrounded by beautiful countryside.
We stayed here overnight following an amazing experience dining at Auberge Du LAc. at Auberge du Lac .

The Lodge itself was fabulous - our room was very tastefully decorated and spacious with a huge bathroom equipped with essentials to make your stay so good.

There are no catering facilities within the Lodge and no room service but tea and coffee making facilities are provided. Breakfast is served within the Golf Club restaurant - a five minute walk down hill from the Lodge.

I would have liked to give this experience an Excellent rating but breakfast let it down badly.
The breakfast room was beautifully laid out and tables looked pristine and inviting so having had great service to this point one expected a similar level at breakfast. Sadly not the case .

The usual selection of cereals were available, a few yoghurts and a choice of two juices - apple or orange, a small selection of fresh fruit - banana, apple , grapes and orange. The hot breakfast on offer was lukewarm at best and many of the items, pudding and sausage in particular were tasteless. All the breakfast foods were laid out ina very small space under the spiral staircase allowing a maximum of two people to move around in comfort.
tea and coffee was brought to the table but sadly not in pots as one would have expected - having to chase the waitress for refills was not the best way to begin the day!

All in all the stay in Melbourne Lodge was very good however a few minor changes to the breakfast service could have made this a thoroughly memorable experience. While slightly disappointed it would not deter me from staying there again

Our trip was Golf based and we found Brocket Hall to be an outstanding venue. Our room was spacious, well appointed, very comfortable and clean. The food was good and the levels of service excellent, especially from Liz who's welcome and service at the Melbourne's, 'halfway house' was very much appreciated. A wide range of beverages were available at a competitive price.
We played both golf courses during our visit. Each was a good test but the Palmerston stands out both in terms of visual appeal and from a players perspective. A great value package we hope to repeat in the future.
Ps If you require a 'buggy' check beforehand as they weren't available for the Palmerston during our visit.

We spent a lovely weekend at Brocket Hall, playing on both superb golf courses, dining at Auberge du Lac and staying overnight at Melbourne Lodge.

We really enjoyed the whole experience - the setting is amazing and although the bedrooms could do with a bit of "modernisation" everything about our stay was excellent.

It’s a great place to stay and fully enjoy at Auberge du Lac’s dining experience. Our package included the room, breakfast, a bottle of wine on arrival and the tasting menu – and was a great way to kick off Christmas. Melbourne Lodge stands alone on the other side of the Lake to the Restaurant, so be prepared for a short walk to the Golf Club for breakfast, and a little further over the bridge to Auberge. During the current UK monsoon season, a good tip is to pick up one of the handy umbrellas from reception . . . The large, comfortable rooms are a bit the shabby side of chic – but have wonderful views, are full of character and we appreciated the generously-sized towels and robes. Small niggle was that there wasn’t a corkscrew in the room to open the wine, and it took half an hour to get one – perhaps use screw tops in future? Breakfast was lovely – cooked to order, lots of toast and coffee replenished at frequent intervals.

I have just spent a great weekend with friends at Brocket Hall Golf Club. The golf courses are outstanding, apart from the badger damage which is extensive, completely detroying one fairway on the Melbourne Course. The Palmerston Course is probably the most beautifully landscaped golf course I have ever played. The driving range and practice facility is excellent too and the Course Starter was excellent and informative. The accommodation in the Melbourne Lodge was fine, if a little dated but overall the setting for Brocket Hall is beautiful. On the negative (Customer Service Manager take note), some of the staff are less than welcoming, there is nothing to inform guest that they pick up their keys at the clubhouse before going to the accommodation. The bar area is a great let down and despite being paying guests we were not allowed to drink in the bar and we were consigned to a badly furnished ante-room with a snooker table in it. The bar staff on Sunday were the least friendly I think I have met. Brocket Hall is stunning and I want my abiding memory to beof the course and location, not staff who don't know how to smile and feel the need to treat paying guests with disdain rather than courtesy.

Stayed here on a recent corporate golf event.

One of the best golf courses Ive played in a long time. Loved the 18th over the lake.

Evening meal (given it was mass catering for 150 people) was very good I thought and welcome after a long & challenging round of golf

My only negative was I thought the visitors changing room was a little tired

Had a great time at Brocket Hall. Two brilliant golf courses which were maintained to a high standard. Course marshals were visible - a rarity at most golf clubs. They were extremely helpful. Stayed in the Melborne Lodge. Lovely large room which was a bit tired, but clean. Beautiful views form the Lodge. Had lunch prior to playing golf on the first day at the golfers bar. OK but expensive for what we had. The same menu was on offer for dinner which did not offer a lot of choices for non-meat eaters. We decided to go to a village nearby to eat. Would definately visit again.

My wife and me stayed two nights at the Melbourne Lodge and played one round at the Palmerston course.
We had a wonderful and spacious room at the lodge, and the golf course was excellent. Overall, the food was superb and Auberge du lac restaurant is highly recommended. A tip from the starter and good service from the Pro shop helped me play my preferred course , even if I was not allowed to book it in advance and contacted the hotel the day before arrivel in this regard.
The service from the reception was not up to standards. On arrivel , there was no one leading us to the lodge/room or assisting with luggage (1.floor and no elevator).1 bottle of wine included in the package was not in the room. On departure, we had to wait 15 min for the receptionist, and he was unable to figure out oustanding amount adjusted for our "gastronomic package". First he presented the total amont charged which would have meant a considerable amount payed twice! He then appologised and took a print of the creditcard and promised an e-mail with the outstanding amount the following day.
