The Royal Family and swathes of spectators turned out this year to celebrate the best of Scottish heritage at the Braemar Gathering.

Returning for the first time since Covid, the event has been attended by members of the Royal Family since 1832 and this year, was attended by Duke and Duchess of Rothesay and HRH The Princess Royal.

Upon their arrival, Prince Charles and Camilla cut the ceremonial ribbon of the Jubilee Arch to mark its official unveiling.

The Queen’s absence was paid tribute to in the opening speech.

Other notable appearances on Saturday included Dame Judi Dench and Hugh Bonneville who both joined the crowds in filling the park with cheers and applause as competitors battled it out for first place in a range of traditional events.

The caber toss, tug of war, the hammer throw and the sprint races proved to be among the favourites with the crowd this year while others attending the event loved the host of pipe bands performing.
