Interestingly enough, Ring is not offering any smart locks—as of the time of writing this review—which is why many people end up asking what the best smart locks that work with Ring alarm systems are.
The good news is that there are compatible smart locks that work well with Ring alarm systems.
The tricky part is picking the right one.
Having personally tested some of the top smart locks compatible with Ring, I can share a genuinely hands-on review of their performance. This is not just based on specifications or marketing claims – I have first-hand experience with how well these smart locks compatible with Ring work in reality.

Best Smart Locks for Ring Alarm
Yale Assure Lock SL With Z-Wave Plus
The Yale Assure Lock SL works with Ring devices. It is one of the locks that you can find listed and sold on Ring’s website so it is Ring certified and is probably one of the best options here.
This deadbolt is keyless. (It is just a touchscreen keypad.)
It has a very clean design and low profile. It also offers some quality-of-life type of features such as backlit numbers, auto-locking, and one-touch locking, as well as a 9V battery terminal for backup power.
It is ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 certified, so it may not be the toughest smart lock out there, but it is definitely one of the better ones in terms of quality and durability.
Once you pair the Yale Assure SL to your Ring app, you can monitor the lock and see who has locked or unlocked it. After adding a new user to your Ring app, you can also add them to the smart lock. Since you will be using the Z-Wave module, you will also be able to add and manage up to 250 different entry codes.
You can also set it up to automatically arm the Ring alarm system when the lock is locked and disarm the system when the lock is unlocked.
This lock also works with Alexa allowing you to manage and check the lock’s status by using the Ring Alexa skill.
The installation is pretty straightforward, and included are all the components you would need. Check this video for a quick overview of how the installation process works.
The lock is intended to be used in environmental temperatures between 22°F to 140°F, so it may not be the best option for areas with harsher winters.
Schlage Encode Smart WiFi Deadbolt
The Schlage Encode WiFi Deadbolt is another smart lock that pairs well with Ring.
It is also one of the few smart locks that you can find on Ring’s site.
Unlike the Yale Assure SL, the Schlage Encode is able to connect to your existing WiFi internet connection. Everything is already built into these smart locks, so there is no need for extra hubs.
Since this is a WiFi lock, it works a little differently than the other smart locks, which use the Z-Wave protocol. The Schlage Encode can be used remotely through the Amazon Key app, and you do not need a protection plan or the base station for it to be managed through the Ring app.
After connecting this lock to your Ring app, you can remotely lock and unlock it by using the Live View on the Ring’s video doorbell and receive real-time notifications.
Using the Amazon Key App, you can create up to 100 different entry codes that you can give out to guests and relatives.
A neat extra feature is that you can still use your physical key as a backup.
It also works with Amazon Alexa, and by using the Key smart home skill, you can lock and unlock your Schlage Encode using your voice.
This lock is definitely one of the toughest ones, as it is BHMA/ANSI Grade 1 certified. People looking for a tough and reliable lock will find this one a great pick. It can also be used safely in four-season locations that observe harsh winters or hot summers, as it has operating temperatures between -31°F and 150°F.
One of the issues with Schlage locks is that they tend to go through batteries pretty quickly sometimes. So more regular maintenance may be necessary compared to some other smart locks.
Schlage Connect Smart Deadbolt With Z-Wave Plus
The Schlage Connect deadbolt is another well-known smart lock that works well with Ring and is also very reliable and well-built.
After connecting the lock with the Ring Base Station, you will be able to remotely lock and unlock it, add or remove access codes, receive real-time notifications, and monitor the battery charge.
The lock allows for up to 30 entry codes to be set up.
The installation process is seamless and does not require anything else beyond a standard screwdriver. It is designed to work on the majority of standard residential doors.
The Schlage Connect smart locks have a very sleek design and are BHMA/ANSI Grade 1 certified.
The Schlage Connect is suitable for four-season areas and has operating temperatures between -31°F and 150°F.
Level Deadbolt
This deadbolt is also compatible with Ring systems.
By pairing the Level deadbolt to your Ring system, you can use several smart features, such as remote locking and unlocking, checking the lock’s status, and receiving notifications when the lock is used.
Using the Level app, you can also allocate guest keys and set up automatic locking and unlocking.
What sets the Level Deadbolt is that it is a very discreet and minimalistic solution that in no way advertises it is actually a smart deadbolt. (An optional keypad is also available and can be purchased separately.)
In fact, this is easily one of the smallest smart deadbolts you can find on the market right now.
The deadbolt is designed to fit most standard residential doors, and the installation process is very simple.
The Level lock will work very well in most locations, even the ones that have a little rougher winters, as its operating temperatures are between -4°F and 140°F.
That said, there are some considerations that should be kept in mind.
For the Level lock to work with the Ring app, the Ring Video Doorbell Pro is required, and they have to be connected through Amazon Sidewalk. This applies to both the standard Level lock and the Touch Edition (reviewed below). This can be problematic because the Ring Video Doorbell Pro is a hardwired model.
Level Lock Touch Edition
This one expands on the base model adding extra features such as allowing owners to open it with a single touch or a key card.
You can also make use of other features, such as shared access, auto-Lock, and unlocking, using the Level app.
Level Lock- Touch Edition is also Certified BHMA AAA, so it is a very tough and secure lock and has a really good battery life.
The biggest downside to this one is that it is noticeably more expensive than many other smart locks.
Kwikset 888 SmartCode Deadbolt
This is one of the fairly popular models sold by Kwiksets simply because of how reliable they tend to be.
Kwikset 888 is compatible with Ring alarm systems. It is Z-wave Plus compatible, and it does require the base station.
By using the Ring app, you can check the status of the lock, lock and unlock it, receive notifications, and automate the arming and disarming of the Ring alarm system. You can assign and manage up to 30 different entry codes.
That said, this lock can also be used with a standard physical key. The neat thing here is that this lock is designed to be extremely easy to rekey.
Kwikset 888 is one of the better locks when it comes to four-season locations with operating temperatures between -40°F to 150°F.
One downside is that Kwikset motors tend to be louder, and compared to many of the other smart locks, you are more likely to hear your Kwikset smart lock when the motor is locking or unlocking the door. This is something that is generally observed in Kwikset smart deadbolts.
Also, the numbers are paired on the buttons, which makes things a little awkward at times, and in theory, it might be easier to guess one’s code.
Kwikset 916 SmartCode Deadbolt
The Kwikset 916 works with Ring alarm systems.
By pairing it to Ring’s Base Station and connecting it to your Ring app, you can lock and unlock the door remotely, check who used the lock, and add and remove access codes. The integration process is easy and intuitive.
You can set up up to 30 different entry codes for guests and relatives. If necessary, it can also be used with a physical key.
The Kwikset 916 can also be rekeyed extremely fast, which will be very useful to homeowners and renters.
The downside to this model is that the 916 model has a touchscreen that may be a little difficult to operate if there is too much moisture or humidity. Moisture is known to mess with touch screens, so you will have to make sure the touchscreen is wiped clean, and your hands are dry.
That said, the Kwikset 916 also does not disappoint as it can be used in very rough conditions and is designed to work at temperature ranges between -40°F to 150°F.
