Maximilian, Maximillian or Maximiliaan (Maximilien in French) is a male given name. It was coined by Friedrich III for his son in 1459, explaining it as a combination of the names of two Roman generals, Maximus and Scipio Aemilianus. According to Wikipedia:

Bridget or Brigid is a Gaelic/Irish female name derived from the noun brgh, meaning "power, strength, vigor, virtue". An alternate meaning of the name is "exalted one". Its popularity, especially in Ireland, is largely related to the popularity of Saint Brigid of Kildare, who was so popular in Ireland she was known as "Mary of the Gael". This saint took on many of the characteristics of the early Celtic goddess Brigid, who was the goddess of agriculture and healing and possibly also of poetry and fire. One of her epithets was "Brigid of the Holy Fire". In German and Scandinavian countries, the popularity of the name spread due to Saint Bridget of Sweden.

In the Irish language, the name is spelled Brighid or Brd and is pronounced "breed" or "breej". In the Scottish Gaelic language, the name is spelled Brghde and is pronounced "breej-eh" At one time the name was so popular for Irish girls that Bridey was used as a slang term for an Irish girl in English-speaking countries. Some Irish servant girls were called Biddie or Biddy by their employers even if that wasn't their real first name. It has been steadily used in the United States throughout the 20th century, though never among the top 100 most popular names for girls. It was most popular in the 1970s, when it ranked as the 153rd most popular name for girls born in that decade in the United States. In 2006, it was the 349th most popular female given name in the United States; in 2007 it fell to 357th place. It was ranked as the 367th most common name for girls and women in the United States in the 1990 census.

I know Isabella is a form of Elisabeth/Elizabeth, but I kept this out of the current listing:

Elisabeth (or Elizabeth) is a feminine given name derived from a form of the Hebrew name Elisheva (אֱלִישֶׁבַע), meaning "My God is an oath" or "My God is abundance", as rendered in the Septuagint.

Elizabeth I (1533 1603)[  was Queen of England and Ireland from 17 November 1558 until her death on 24 March 1603. Sometimes called the Virgin Queen, Gloriana or Good Queen Bess, Elizabeth was the last of the five monarchs of the House of Tudor. Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, his second wife, who was executed two-and-a-half years after Elizabeth's birth. Anne's marriage to Henry VIII was annulled, and Elizabeth was declared illegitimate. From the start of Elizabeth's reign, it was expected that she would marry and the question arose to whom. Although she received many offers for her hand, she never married and was childless; the reasons for this are not clear.

Lady Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon (1900 2002) was the wife of King George VI, and the mother of Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon. She was queen of the United Kingdom and the Dominions from her husband's accession in 1936 until his death in 1952, after which she was known as Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, to avoid confusion with her daughter. She was the last Empress of India. She was the youngest daughter and the ninth of ten children of Claude Bowes-Lyon, Lord Glamis (later the 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne in the Peerage of Scotland), and his wife, Cecilia Cavendish-Bentinck. Prince Albert, Duke of York"Bertie" to the familywas the second son of King George V. He initially proposed to Elizabeth in 1921, but she turned him down, being "afraid never, never again to be free to think, speak and act as I feel I really ought to". In March 1922 Albert proposed again, but she refused him once more. Eventually, in January 1923, Elizabeth agreed to marry Albert, despite her misgivings about royal life. They married on 26 April 1923. Elizabeth became styled Her Royal Highness The Duchess of York. Alberts elder brother Edward decided to abdicate to be able to marry divorcee Wallis Simpson. Albert, who reluctantly became King in his place on 11 December 1936 under the regnal name of George VI. George VI and Elizabeth were crowned King and Queen of Great Britain, Ireland and the British Dominions, and Emperor and Empress of India in Westminster Abbey on 12 May 1937.

Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary)( 1926) is the Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. The first child and daughter of 2 of the Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Her father ascended the throne on the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the heir presumptive. Elizabeth met her future husband, Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark (1921), in 1934 and 1937. They are second cousins once removed through King Christian IX of Denmark and third cousins through Queen Victoria. After another meeting in 1939, Elizabeththough only 13 years oldsaid she fell in love with Philip, and they began to exchange letters. She was 21 when their engagement was officially announced on 9 July 1947. The engagement was not without controversy; Philip had no financial standing, was foreign-born (though a British subject who had served in the Royal Navy throughout the Second World War), and had sisters who had married German noblemen with Nazi links. Before the marriage, Philip renounced his Greek and Danish titles, officially converted from Greek Orthodoxy to Anglicanism, and adopted the style Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten, taking the surname of his mother's British family. Elizabeth and Philip were married on 20 November 1947. When her father died in February 1952, Elizabeth became head of the Commonwealth and queen regnant of seven independent Commonwealth countries. Elizabeth and Philip had 4 children: Charles (1948); Anne (1950); Andrew (1959) and Edward (1963).

Elisabeth Christine of Brunswick-Wolfenbttel (1691 1750) was the eldest daughter of Louis Rudolph, Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbttel and his wife Princess Christine Louise of Oettingen-Oettingen. At age 13 Elisabeth Christine became engaged to the future Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor. She married Charles in 1708. The couple had 4 children.

Archduchess Maria Elisabeth of Austria (Full name : Maria Elisabeth Amalia Antonia Josefa Gabriele Johanna Agathe)( 1737 1740), was the eldest child and daughter of Archduchess Maria Theresa of Austria, later Queen of Hungary and Bohemia, and Duke Francis of Lorraine, later Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor. During a visit to Laxenburg castle on 7 June 1740, Maria Elisabeth became suddenly ill with stomach cramps and vomiting. Throughout the day, the stomach cramps alternated with ever-renewed vomiting until the little Archduchess died that night at 9 p.m. aged 3.

Archduchess Maria Elisabeth of Austria (Maria Elisabeth Josepha Johanna Antonia)( 1743 1808) was the sixth child and the third surviving daughter of Maria Theresa I, Holy Roman Empress and Francis of Lorraine. She was an abbess of the Convent for Noble Ladies in Innsbrck from 1780 until 1806.

Elizabeth Petrovna (Russian: Елизаве́та (Елисаве́та) Петро́вна) (1709 1762), also known as Yelisaveta or Elizaveta, was the Empress of Russia from 1741 until her death in 1762. She was the daughter of Peter the Great, Tsar of Russia, by his second wife, Catherine I. In 1724, Peter betrothed his daughters to two young princes, first cousins to each other, who hailed from the tiny north German principality of Holstein-Gottorp, and whose family was undergoing a period of political and economic stress.  Anna Petrovna (aged 16) was to marry Charles Frederick, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp, who was then living in exile in Russia as Peters guest. Some time later, and in the same year, Elizabeth was betrothed to marry Charles Frederick's first cousin, Charles Augustus of Holstein-Gottorp,  the eldest son of Christian Augustus, Prince of Eutin. Anna's wedding was held in 1725 as planned, even though her father, Peter the Great, died a few weeks before the nuptials. In Elizabeth's case, however, her fianc died on 31 May 1727, before the wedding could be celebrated. This came as a double blow to Elizabeth, because her mother Catherine I (who had succeeded Peter the Great to the throne) had died just two weeks previously, on 17 May 1727. Elizabeth's response to the lack of marriage prospects was to take Alexis Shubin, a handsome sergeant in the Semyonovsky Guards regiment, as her lover. After he was banished to Siberia, Elizabeth consoled herself with a handsome coachman and then turned to a footman for her sexual pleasure. Eventually she found her long-term companion in Alexis Razumovsky, a young and handsome Ukrainian peasant serf with a good bass voice. There is reason to believe that she might even have married him in a secret ceremony. Razumovsky would later become known as "the Emperor of the Night." As an unmarried and childless empress, it was imperative for Elizabeth to find a legitimate heir to secure the Romanov dynasty. She chose her nephew, Peter of Holstein-Gottorp.

Princess Louise of Baden (1779 1826) was, later known as Elizabeth Alexeievna (Russian: Елизавета Алексеевна), the Empress of Russia during her marriage with Emperor Alexander I. Born Princess Louise of Baden, she was a daughter of Charles Louis, Hereditary Prince of Baden, and his wife, Landgravine Amalie of Hesse-Darmstadt.She was chosen by Empress Catherine II of Russia as a bride for her eldest grandson, Grand Duke Alexander Pavlovich of Russia, the future Tsar Alexander I.  Louise converted to the Orthodox Church, took the title of Grand Duchess of Russia and traded the name Louise Maria for Elizabeth Alexeievna. She married Alexander on 28 September 1793, when he was fifteen and she was fourteen. Initially the marriage was happy. She had two daughters, but both died in early childhood.

Grand Duchess Elizabeth Alexandrovna of Russia (1806 1808) Youngest daughter of Tsar Alexander I and Elizabeth Alexeievna.

Wanrong (1906 1946), also known as Xuantong Empress, was the Empress Consort of Puyi, the Last Emperor of China and final ruler of the Manchu-led Qing dynasty. In 1932, when the Empire of Japan established the puppet state of Manchukuo in Manchuria (northeastern China) and installed Puyi as its nominal emperor, Wanrong became the empress of Manchukuo. During the Soviet invasion of Manchuria at the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War in 1945, Wanrong was captured by Chinese Communist guerrillas and transferred to different locations before she was settled in a prison camp in Yanji, Jilin. She died in prison in around June or August 1946 and her remains were never found. Wanrong's full birth name was Gobulo Wanrong (郭布羅婉容); she is referred to as simply Wanrong because Manchus were usually referred to by their given names only. Her courtesy name was Muhong (慕鴻) and her art name was Zhilian. She also adopted a Western name, Elizabeth, which was inspired by Elizabeth I of England. Wanrong was born in the Gobulo (郭布羅) clan, which is of Daur ancestry and under the Plain White Banner of the Eight Banners. Her father was Rongyuan (榮源), who served as a Minister of Domestic Affairs (內務府大臣) in the Qing imperial court. Wanrong's biological mother, Aisin-Gioro Hengxin (恒馨), was the fourth daughter of Yuzhang (毓長) and a granddaughter of Puxu (溥煦).

Empress Elisabeth of Austria (born Duchess Elisabeth in Bavaria)( 1837 1898) was Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary by marriage to Emperor Franz Joseph I. She was born into the royal Bavarian House of Wittelsbach. Nicknamed Sisi (also Sissi). Born Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie, she was the fourth child of Duke Maximilian Joseph in Bavaria and Princess Ludovika of Bavaria, the half-sister of King Ludwig I of Bavaria. In 1853, Princess Sophie of Bavaria, the domineering mother of 23-year-old Emperor Franz Joseph, preferring to have a niece as a daughter-in-law rather than a stranger, arranged a marriage between her son and her sister Ludovika's eldest daughter, Helene ("Nn"). Although the couple had never met, Franz Joseph's obedience was taken for granted by the archduchess, who was once described as "the only man in the Hofburg" for her authoritarian manner. Helene was a pious, quiet young woman, and she and Franz Joseph felt ill at ease in each other's company, but he was instantly infatuated with her younger sister. The couple was married in 1854. Franz Joseph was passionately in love with his wife, but she did not reciprocate his feelings fully and felt increasingly stifled by the rigidness of court life. He was an unimaginative and sober man, a political reactionary who was still guided by his mother and her adherence to the strict Spanish Court Ceremonial regarding both his public and domestic life, whereas Elisabeth inhabited a different world altogether. Restless to the point of hyperactivity, naturally introverted, and emotionally distant from her husband, she fled him as well as her duties of life at court, avoiding them both as much as she could. Franz Joseph and Elisabeth had 4 children: Sophie (1855-1857), Gisela (1856-1932), Rudolf (1858-1889) and Marie Valerie (1868-1924). Elisabeth was assinated in Geneva, Switzerland in 1898.

Archduchess Elisabeth Marie of Austria (Elisabeth Marie Henriette Stephanie Gisela (1883 1963) was the only child of Rudolf, Crown Prince of Austria and Princess Stphanie of Belgium, and a granddaughter of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria and King Leopold II of the Belgians. She was known to the family as "Erzsi", a diminutive of her name in Hungarian.  Later nicknamed "The Red Archduchess", she was famous for becoming a socialist and a member of the Austrian Social Democratic Party. Elisabeth was considered a potential bride for several princes in Europe; among them was her cousin Prince Albert, heir presumptive to the throne of Belgium. In 1900 Elisabeth met Prince Otto Weriand of Windisch-Graetz (18731952) at a court ball. Ten years her senior, he was below her in rank. Nonetheless she importuned her grandfather to be allowed to marry him. Franz Joseph resisted at first, having intended for Elisabeth to marry the German Crown Prince, but eventually relented. By many accounts it was Elisabeth alone who wanted the marriage, as Otto was already engaged to Countess von Schnborn and was reportedly dumbfounded when Franz Joseph informed him of his new engagement. Ordered by the Emperor to break his "lesser" engagement to marry his granddaughter, he complied. In order to avoid future succession issues, the Emperor made the marriage conditional on Elisabeth's renouncing her right to succession, although he allowed her to keep her personal title and provided her with a generous dowry. The couple married in 1902. They had three sons: Prince Franz Joseph (19041981), Prince Ernst (19051952) and Prince Rudolf (19071939). Their last child and only daughter, Princess Stephanie (19092005). Throughout their marriage both Elisabeth and Otto were open in having affairs. Only after the death of Franz Joseph in 1916 and the end of the monarchy in 1918 did the couple officially separate. In 1921 Elisabeth joined the Social Democratic Party, where she met Leopold Petznek. She formally divorced Prince Otto in early 1948, and on 4 May 1948 she and Leopold married.

Princess Elisabeth of Bavaria (German: Elisabeth Marie Auguste Prinzessin von Bayern)( 1874 1957) was a member of the Bavarian Royal House of Wittelsbach. She was known as Princess of Bavaria until 1918. Elisabeth was the first child of Prince Leopold of Bavaria and his wife Archduchess Gisela of Austria, a daughter of Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth of Austria. In 1893, she married, Otto Ludwig Philipp von Seefried auf Buttenheim, (1870 - 1951), Freiherr zu Hagenbach. Elisabeth and Otto eloped and married secretly, as they knew they would never be officially permitted to marry. Not only was Otto of much lower rank than Elisabeth, he was also a Protestant. In a letter announcing the marriage to his new parents-in-law, Otto stated that he and Elisabeth were so determined not to be parted that they had felt forced to choose between elopement and mutual suicide. Elisabeth's father, and especially her grandfather, Prince Regent Luitpold, were incensed upon being presented with this fait accompli. It took years for Elisabeth's relationship with her father to recover; their reconciliation was mostly due to the efforts of her mother Gisela and grandfather, Emperor Franz Joseph. Both of the latter gave the couple their blessing after the marriage was announced. The marriage proved to be a very happy one, and the couple had five children.

Countess Elisabeth von Seefried auf Buttenheim (1897- 1975) she was the 2nd child and daughter of Princess Elisabeth of Bavaria and Otto vo Seefried auf Buttenheim.

Elisabeth of Romania (full name Elisabeth Charlotte Josephine Alexandra Victoria: Romanian: Elisabeta a Romniei, Greek: Ελισάβετ της Ρουμανίας)( 1894 -1956) was a princess of Romania and member of the House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen and by marriage Queen consort of Greece during 19221924. Second child and first daughter of Crown Prince Ferdinand and Crown Princess Marie of Romania (a member of the British royal family and later Princess of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha). Elisabeth was nicknamed Lisabetha or Lizzy by her family. Named after her paternal great-aunt, Queen Elisabeth of Wied. In 1914 Prince George of Greece, then second in line to the throne and her 2nd cousin asked for Elisabeths hand. But she declined the offer. In 1920 she met prince George again, who asked again for her hand. This time she decided to accept the offer. In 1921 Elisabeth and George married. Shortly after, Crown Prince Carol of Romania, Elisabeth's elder brother, married George's younger sister, Princess Helen of Greece. In Greece, Elisabeth had great difficulty integrating into the royal family, and her relationship with Queen Sophia was particularly awkward. Meanwhile, the disaster of the Greco-Turkish War forced King Constantine I to abdicate, which pushed George on to the throne (1922). The new king, however, had no power, and he and his queen were unable to resolve the repression organized by revolutionaries who took power against the representatives of the old regime. After an attempted monarchist coup d'tat in October 1923, the situation of the royal couple became even more precarious. On 19 December 1923 King George II and his wife were forced into exile by the revolutionary government. With Prince Paul (the king's brother and heir-presumptive to the throne), they then departed for Romania, where they learned of the proclamation of the Second Hellenic Republic on 25 March 1924. In May 1935, Elisabeth heard from a Greek diplomat that the Second Hellenic Republic was on the verge of collapse and that the restoration of the monarchy was imminent. Frightened by this news, the exiled Queen of the Hellenes then launched divorce proceedings without informing her husband.
