- Dan AAlpharetta, Georgia1,044 contributionsNiceThe condo unit we stayed in was clean and recently refurbished. Our unit had no views and the privacy fences, while apparently recently repainted, were obviously rotting. The blinds in the master bedroom were broken and couldn’t be adjusted. There were no written instructions for any of the tv’s. Luckily we were there to play golf and not to watch tv or stare out of the windows.Visited April 2023Traveled with friendsWritten April 30, 2023
- K RitterColumbia, Illinois5 contributionsGreat vacation, great unit on the beachWe stayed in The Moorings, just a few steps from the Dunes House and the beautiful beach! Our unit was very nice, clean and well stocked. We did have a credit for VayK Gear through our rental company, so we were able to have 2 bikes and 2 beach chairs waiting for us upon arrival. We loved Palmetto Dunes! Rode bikes daily, visited the pickle ball courts, beach, Dunes House, played golf, fished a little and enjoyed the pool. We saw an attendant cleaning the pool daily as he often parked right in front of our unit. No issues with our stay and we will definitely go back! NOTE: Once you arrive here, you can ride bikes to so many places, including restaurants, golf and Harbour, where we saw manatees swimming.Visited June 2023Traveled with familyWritten June 29, 2023

- Mike GNew York52 contributionsGreat golf lesson with Doug Weaver - highly recommended!!Doug is a great instructor. My index is ~10 and I asked for help with my irons. He quickly identified the flaws in my swing, which left lots of time to make adjustments and practice. Doug talks "with" you, not "at" you to find out what learning techniques work best for you. I especially liked that he recorded most of the lesson with my cell phone camera, including narration in the background while I was making the adjustments, so I can refer back to in when needed vs. relying on my memory. Another thing I liked was being able to stay on the range and continue practicing after the lesson - I wasn't rushed off the practice area. If you're looking for a great lesson and want someone who will tell you what you need to hear to improve and not necessarily what you want to hear, then Doug Weaver is your man. Thanks again Doug!Visited September 2023Traveled soloWritten October 5, 2023

The resort itself is fabulous. People are nice and if you are staying in a home or hotel it is relaxing and quiet. However I would not recommend Queens Grant Villas. We have stayed twice this year. The maintenance crews run VERY loud equipment from 7 in the morning until well after 5:00 pm. You can't sleep in or hear one another when you are outside. Forget enjoying the deck or grilling. You certainly can't use your phone outside. It is like being on a construction site all day every day and really annoying. I think it is inconsiderate of management not to get a handle on the noise given the money you pay to rent. I know they want to keep things pretty...but if you can't enjoy going outside it is irrelevant. We stayed for 3 weeks in the spring and tried again for another 3 weeks beginning in mid September. It is constantly loud !!! Today was the worst. Golf courses are nice and the resort is in a good location.

Hello Cath and thank you for taking the time to review Queen's Grant within Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort. We certainly apologize that you had to deal with the noise mentioned above within the sub-division as it can most definitely hamper the ability to enjoy the immediate surrounding of your unit. Unfortunately, we only manage a small percentage of the properties located within Queen's Grant and it is up to the regime and the owners there to allow remodeling and construction when needed. Obviously, there is no perfect time to schedule this as there are always visitors to the Island, but these jobs certainly have to be completed for the upkeep of the villas. Again, we apologize that your stay was interrupted, but would love to have you back at maybe one of our other properties in the future.

although the stay was ok, a few things went bad. the hills, and jones courses were in great condition. rangers rode around and picked up our balls. this happened three different times. our house 3 cartgate had to have the hot water heater reset. we had two nights with no hot water and after planning to grill out the grill had no propane. we called before 8 pm and no-one returned our call. it seems to me that after driving 5 hours and spending that kind of money we should have had a better experience. I contacted two people in charge and they didn't even respond to my email.

Hello Will. Thank you for taking the time to review the resort and we certainly apologize that you left less than 100% satisfied. Also, as far as communication, not sure where the breakdown was as we always try to take care of any issues immediately with our guests so they can get right back to enjoying their vacation. If you would still like to discuss the issues that you encountered while here, please call 843.785.9100 at your earliest convenience so hopefully we can make things right with you and have you back in the future. Thank you.

We rented a 5-BR home this week for our family (7 adults) for a cost of $5000. We were given only one car pass for 7 adults. We had a member arrive after midnight last night and it took an act of God to get him inside. Went to the “Welcome Center” today and asked for an additional pass and was told it would be $30 (I had walked and didn’t have my wallet). Unfortunately, that has totally ruined my impression of this place.

Hello Lisa and thank you for your feedback. We apologize that our pass process was frustrating for you and we will most definitely refund you the $30 as we certainly don't want this to be your opinion of us. We as a Resort also pay for the passes to the P.O.A, hence the policy that is in place, but we do understand your frustration in this instance. You will see a credit on your folio and please let us know if we may assist any further. Thank you again and enjoy the rest of your day.

It was our fifth time here in Palmetto Dunes Resort over the course of two decades. We usually rent a villa. Three generations of our family enjoyed our stays here. Most recent past time we stayed at Moorings Oceanfront villa with unsurpassed direct access to the beach. That was the best but was not available when we tried to rent. This time we got Ocean Cove one of the villas advertised as 200 yards from the beach.
Again we were satisfied and the 3 bedroom villa was pleasant and comfortable.
We were close to the tennis courts as we wanted and just a short walk to the beach. The excellent general store was a walking distance and a couple of restaurants nearby. We especially enjoyed the Dunes House which offered safe outdoor eating practically on the beach.
The rental of bikes is easy in Palmetto Dunes and instead of having to return them after our week-long rental they picked our bikes up from us - total comfort on the day of departure!
We enjoyed watching sunrises on the beach, long walks, all the interesting fauna and flora of Hilton Head Island.
Palmetto Dunes extends through the safe walking and biking passage under the William Hilton Pkwy into Shelter Cove - with beautiful waterfront Promenade, boat rentals, fishing opportunities, choice restaurants and galleries as well as the famous Neptune monument.
The day after Thanksgiving Santa arrived to Shelter Cove and a small train ride was available. The atmosphere was festive and joyful.
Will we visit Palmetto Dunes again? You bet!

Nice place, but if you come to relax and sleep later than 7:30AM you CAN NOT. Started blowing leaves around 7:30am and DO NOT get a room near the tennis courts because yes! They also started at the same time- Fantastic! Such a disappointment. Vacation is supposed to be no alarm clock, no getting up early, this trip was just like a work day schedule. The pictures show the landscapers in the bright yellow- no kidding they started when the sun came up.

If you’re interested in improving your golf game AND having fun doing it, I highly recommend working with a Doug Weaver, Director of Instruction at Palmetto Dunes. All 15 ladies with whom I took Doug’s clinics were impressed with all they learned as well as Doug’s teaching style. A must for aspiring or advanced golfers!

I am biased in my assessment of this resort as I own a vacation rental. However due to COVID I have been hunkering down here since last December and I can say that as a visitor my experience has been thoroughly enjoyable. The beach (even in the winter) is spectacular and my wife and I love our walks. Every time I see the ocean my breath is taken away.
We also enjoy the Food and Beverage and are regulars at Big Jims, the Dunes House.and Alexanders Restaurant. The 3 golf courses are spectacular and the service at all of these amenities is top notch. My only criticism is that there seems to be a disconnect between the golf course management and the property owners over the preferential rates offered to the property owners. Regrettably we have been made to feel unwelcome by course management and that has left a sour taste. It is truly a shame as my wife and I love the resort but I must say the treatment of the rental owners leads me to wonder how my guests are treated.
Otherwise I think the resort and its staff are fantastic!!!

Our trip was cancelled due to a hurricane and we received horrible customer service, lost $3000, and had no vacation.
The attached emails will show more details but to put a long story short, our family was thrilled to be going on a beach vacation, and much to our dismay, Hilton Head had a hurricane headed there the same week. Flights were cancelled (multiple times) and ultimately we were unable to make it down for our trip. Since we didn’t (nor have we ever) bought travel insurance, we called 3 times on the day of our flight to understand our options being told that “weather related cancellations are dealt with on a case by case basis”. And the next day and following days I continued to call. It took almost 2 weeks to hear back from anyone at the resort about our $4500 we had spent on our vacation despite our many phone calls, voice messages and emails.
When we finally heard back, there was a careless response pointing blame at other staff members and quoting us a 30 day cancellation policy, as well as offering no money back and a 10% discount on a future booking. We could not have felt more angered or insulted.
After much back and forth, they agreed to refund some taxes, and fees totaling $1500 of our $4500. Despite the car rentals, airline tickets and golf tee times being refunded with no question since there was a HURRICANE, this place would not budge.
They stole our $3000 in my opinion. So don’t expect to cancel intentionally or unintentionally against their policy. Or buy all the trip insurance because these people do not care about you or your hard earned money.

My only regret is that I didn’t meet Doug Weaver 20 years ago! We talked for 5 minutes he took another 5 minutes to watch me hit the golf ball and about 5 more minutes to fix the problems. And there were a few. Doug is truly a professional golf instructor. I have found my new coach. If you truly want to get better quickly don’t wait Doug can change the way you play almost immediately.Thank you Palmetto Dunes Resort but especially Thank you Doug weaver.

We stayed in Hilton Head on Palmetto Dunes. We stayed at 1 Troon Drive. Location was great! House was not in good condition--appliances needed to be replaced, blinds broken throughout the house, bathtubs did not work as bathtubs, carpets were dirty, and many more things were not up to par with the house. Palmetto Dunes staff and maintenance people were very responsive and couldn't have been nicer. The house also appeared to not have been cleaned very well.
We would return to Palmetto Dunes because there is so much to do in the area-waling and bike trails, beaches, restaurants, the General Store! Next time we go, we will either stay in a hotel or be very cautious about our choice of a house.

I am looking to book at Plametto Dunes. It says an oceanfront resort, but reading the reviews, doesn't appear that way, or many on the ocean. We are members of RA and Coral Resorts (which are not on the ocean). Is there a specific type of room on the ocean I should be asking for when booking?

Hi Wendy! Palmetto Dunes is a 2000 acre resort with a variety of villa and home rentals throughout the community. We have villas that are classified as Oceanfront/ oceanview, near ocean, or resort view (lagoon, golf, pool, & community). If you call our reservation center and request Oceanfront or oceanview villas and number of bedrooms, we will be able to pull up what is available in our inventory for their time frame. Give us a call and we'd be happy to assist you!

Good morning Jeff
The average temperature on Hilton Head Island in the month of September is 84 and the average temperature of the ocean is about 80 degrees. September is great time of the year to visit. The weather is really ideal and the crowds aren't as big as in the summer. We offer ocean kayaks for rent through Hilton Head Outfitters located inside Palmetto Dunes Resort. Hope to see you soon!

We are staying at a property on Shelter Cove Lane in July. I'm not familiar with this area, I'm thinking it is across the highway from Palmetto Dunes, is this correct? If so, how far is the beach when you head into Palmetto Dunes? The Dune Buggy will service the Shelter Cove area right? We have always rented from an individual, this year we used a rental company and I'm feeling a bit lost because I'm not able to speak to the owner about the property and what to expect. Any tips and information is greatly appreciated!!

Yes, once inside Palmetto Dunes the beach is not far. It is a quick 2-3 min ride on the Dune Buggy. We have always had good service from the rental companies we have used. You will love the area.
